Just-ln: FG Commend NNPCL, Tantita, others as crude oil production hit 1.8 million bpd, gas' 7.4billion scfd

*We remain committed to attainment of over  2million bpd - Tantita

Ecomiums have been pouring in for Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and a private security outfit, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) as the nation's crude oil production hit 1.8 millions barrels per day (1.8m bpd)

The board and management of NNPCL, which announced the feat on Thursday, also disclosed that gas production has also risen to 7.4 billion standard cubic feet per day (7.4bscfd).

Stakeholders have hailed NNPCL and private security agencies hired to safeguard the nation's economic assets, especially Tantita, for achieving the feat.

Tantita has lately led a relentless war against crude oil theft and pipelines' vandalism, pursuing oil thieves out of the nation's coastal environment as well as seizing and confiscating their equipment.

It was gathered that most of the oil thieves abandoned the nefarious business in the wake of the onslaught and ceaseless heat by the operatives of Tantita security services positioned in the coastal axis of the Niger Delta.

These collaborative efforts with other state actors significantly contributed to the latest rise in the quantum of production of crude  and gas resources.

It was gathered that Tantita has initiated clampdown measures to keep the oil thieves at bay with a view to realising 2million bpd of crude oil production by the end of December, in conjuction with other industry stakeholders.

NNPCL's Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), who announced this at a press briefing on Thursday, said the feat was achieved in compliance with the mandate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Kyari  congratulated the Production War Room Team that anchored the production recovery process.

“The team has done a great job in driving this project of not just production recovery but also escalating production to expected levels that are in the short and long terms acceptable to our shareholders based on the mandates that we have from the President, the Honourable Minister, and the Board,” Kyari stated.

Giving details of the efforts of the Production War Room, the Chief War Room Coordinator and Senior Business Adviser to the Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr Lawal Musa, said the feat was achieved through the collaborative efforts of Joint Venture and Production Sharing Contract partners, the Office of the National Security Adviser, as well as government and private security agencies.

He said the interventions that led to the recovery of production cut across every segment of the production chain, with security agencies closely monitoring the pipelines.

He stressed that when the Production War Room team was inaugurated on the 25th of June 2024, production was at 1.430 mbpd.

He noted that the team swung into action, culminating in it sustaining the production recovery to 1.7 mbpd in August and hitting the current 1.808 mbpd in November.

“We are confident that with this same momentum and with the active collaboration of all stakeholders, especially on the security front, we can see the possibility of getting to 2MBPD by the end of the year,” he added.

It will be recalled that the Chairman of TSSNL, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo,
 while speaking during an award bestowed on him by the national leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), promised to ensure that the daily crude oil production output continued to increase and boost the nation’s revenue.

“The only place I have to call my country is Nigeria, so I will do everything within my powers to see that crude oil production increases.”

Reacting to the latest feat yesterday, Tompolo, said he was excited to be part of the success story.
Tompolo, who spoke through his Special Adviser Media and Public Communication, Mr. Paul Bebenimibo, said Tantita was committed to the realisation of 2mbp by December as directed by President Tinubu.

He said, "This milestone, as you know, was achieved in collaboration with NNPCL, security forces and of course, Tantita, which has been at the forefront of oil pipelines protection in the Niger Delta . We are determined to take it to 2mbpd before the year runs out as directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu."

"All the needed machinery has been put in place to ensure that the target is achieved. No effort will be spared to ensure that the economy of Nigeria is galvanised."
"This will lead to a boost in government's revenue, thereby making more funds available for the President and his team to run the country effectively.  I am assuring you that we are not going to rest on our oars until the target is achieved and even exceeded."

"New technologies were being deployed to monitor the facilities with a view to ensuring  that there won't be any disruption and that the theft of Nigeria's commonwealth is halted."

"So the 1.8mbpd that it has got to, certainly by the end of the year, by God's grace, we will work to get it to 2mbpd and even exceed. We are working towards that,"

It would be recalled that the deworming medical outreach program is crucial in combating soil-transmitted helminths (STH) infections prevalent among preschool-age children in Nigeria. STH infections can cause mal-absorption, vitamin A deficiency, iron deficiency anemia, and malnutrition, significantly impacting children's physical and mental development.

Kestin Ebimobowei Pondi, has reached a significant milestone with the successful completion of his first oil well project in the heart of Niger Delta, South-South Region of Nigeria.

Engr. Kestin Pondi also known as the Ebimie Pere of Niger Delta through his company, Kalm Marine & Petroleum Services Ltd, secured an oil prospecting license in the year 2022 to develop the Ogbanabou field (PPL 213). After two years of dedicated work, Kestin’s vision has been realized, marking his entry into Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The Leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly and its Arbitrary Suspensions

The Leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly and its Arbitrary Suspensions

As a Deltan with utmost interest in upholding the principles of democracy, I am quite concerned about the current leadership of the Delta State House of Assembly led by Emomotimi Guwor.

There has been series of suspension of members by the Speaker most of which are politically motivated and serves no legitimate purpose. Under the leadership of Emomotimi Guwor, the practice of consolidating bills appears to be unknown... Any member who questions this approach faces arbitrary suspension under the pretext of "wilful and false perversion of proceedings. "

The Delta State House of Assembly has never had such poor leadership. Suspensions are taken without due process and without adequate justification and I am forced to question if this is the new way to go in legislative process. A House where suspension is employed as a tool to intimidate members who are democratically elected by their people. Moreso, in a time when the proposed budget for the 2025 fiscal year would be reviewed and deliberated by the House.

How can a member be suspended for misconduct without a clear and public explanation of the allegations? The claim that a committee will be formed to investigate after the suspension raises concerns about the transparency and fairness of the process. It appears that a predetermined outcome may have already been decided upon.

The public should note that in the plenary proceeding that led to my representative’s suspension, no member raised their hand to second the motion and that the member who seconded the motion was called out by the Speaker to second the motion.

We may not have riches but the only thing we have is our name and we will be fearless about protecting that name.

 I write as a concerned constituent of Bomadi.

Delta Ijaw Political Merchants on The Prowl Again: Moral Bankruptcy and Intellectual Poverty of a People_ By Hon. Prince Austin Edumogiren

Delta Ijaw Political Merchants on The Prowl Again: Moral Bankruptcy and Intellectual  Poverty of a People_ By Hon. Prince Austin Edumogiren

* The way out of this evil.

PREAMBLE:

"The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything" - Albert Einstein.

Truth sounds like hate to those who hate it or hate telling it. Believing in the unquantifiable benefits of truth, I have decided to take up my pen once more and truthfully address a pressing issue facing the Delta Ijaw Nation.

REMINISCING ON  PAST EVENTS.

As whispers grow about certain individuals positioning Delta Ijaws for sale ahead of the 2027 General Elections, it becomes imperative, infact, in our best interest, to stand against their evil machinations of sellout and betrayal in Ijaw Land.

The primary and perhaps only obstacle to the progress of the Delta Ijaw Nation is not external force(s); it is the Ijaw People themselves - their actions, inactions and complacency.

In 2022, a group of Delta Ijaw Men and Women led by Alaowei Broderick Bozimo, branded themselves as champions of "Ijaw Agenda 2023". A political pressure group that advocated for Governor of Ijaw extraction in Delta State, and thus campaigned across the entire State.

Contrary to their plan and expectation(s), they couldn't achieve their desired aim due primarily to the following reasons.

1. Contradictory Leadership: The key figures that led the agenda were people that have earlier opposed and battled their kinsmen with same ambition to govern Delta State to submission, resulting in Ijaw failure in 2007, 2011 and 2015.

2. Historical Failures: For over two decades, these leaders consistently failed woefully to represent the interest and welfare of the Ijaw People, resulting in minimal delivery of the dividends of democracy or spoils of their offices in the mould of particularly infrastructure and human capital development.

3. Self-serving Motives: The actions of the foot-soldiers of the agenda reflected the pattern of their principals - largely a balance sheet of self-serving and a charade of self, family and very few cronies enrichment, rather than the broader Ijaw Nation.

GRAND CONSPIRACY TO SELLOUT.

This backdrop brings us to the recent visit by certain Delta Ijaw Men and Women, mostly PDP Members, who paid homage to Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori at Government House, Asaba.

Widely reported in Leadership Newspaper and other news outlets, Bozimo led his group in expressing gratitude to the Governor for, as he claimed "keeping faith with the Ijaw People". He praised the Governor for the allegedly numerous appointments and development projects purportedly benefitting Ijaw Land since he took office on May 29, 2023.

In what can only be described as political expediency, Bozimo effectively offered loyalty and support of the Ijaw Nation for the Oborevwori Administration beyond his first term, stating, “Seeing is believing, and you don’t need to go about campaigning in 2027. We will campaign for you, and I know that we can't remain the same in Delta any more.”

In conclusion, Bozimo said, "We, the Ijaw Nation, have risen to support you. When we say it, we mean it, and that's how it will be in your second term; we will stand behind you when the time comes, because you are a 'talk-and-do' Governor."

There is an almost surreal audacity by using Delta Ijaw Nation to endorse Oborevwori, when the Urhobos who are not only his kinsmen, but on whose land Multi-billion Naira Projects are awarded to the giant of construction, Julius Berger, and construction work at advanced stages, have not endorsed their son. It smacks of hypocrisy!

But wait: doesn't this corroborate the description of some Ijaw Leaders as "Cash and carry"?! Anywhere belle face, give them Ghana-Must-Go, they will turn to you!

There is no arguing the fact that Bozimo and his fellow-travellers are leaders in their right. However, it is surprising that they now posture themselves as the mouthpiece of the Ijaw Nation. What legitimacy do they hold when the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), elected representatives of the Ijaw Nation Worldwide, stand undisputed?

QUADRENNIAL RECYCLED RHETORIC FOR STOMACH INFRASTRUCTURE

Talk is cheap! For their stomach infrastructure, every four years you hear this same recycled rhetorics from these avaricious old foxes to any government in place. They are political merchants that care about themselves and their immediate families only. They are moral bankrupts that suffer intellectual poverty!

The presence of these so-called leaders mark an alarming rise in detrimental and divisive rhetoric, encouraging younger and small minds they have recruited, emboldening them to follow their treacherous part, thereby stoking flames of wider division amongst Ijaw People.

I have often asked myself what drives Bozimo and his cohorts to embark on such self-seeking and self-debasing movements that makes them an object of ridicule without getting any answer. Why continue this self-destructive cycle when there are more profound and pressing concerns in Ijaw Land?
With the wealth and influence Bozimo, an octogenarian, is blessed with, including but not limited to him being a Successful Senior Lawyer, former Commissioner when he was under thirty years in the defunct Bendel State. Recently Minister of Police Affairs and Minister of Interior (State), highly placed wives, children, grandchildren, visible money yielding properties, etcetera, and some of his septuagenarian associates that are not less blessed, what do they still want?

Paying courtesy call on the Governor in the name of any other body than Ijaw Nation would have been noble. Presenting list of projects and asking for more appointments for fellow Ijaw People is laudable and commendable.

LAND WITHOUT GOVERNMENT PATRONAGE

However, what are the development projects Governor Oborevwori has awarded, executed and commissioned in Ijaw Land since assuming office on May 29, 2023? What special preference(s), be it appointment or whatever, has his government given to the Ijaws to warrant the Bozimo Group to thank and appreciate him to the high heavens, and endorse him for Governor in 2027? NON!

For a people on whose land the Oborevwori Administration have not awarded any project, not to talk of executing any project, including abandoned projects to completion, to be quick, infact, be the first ethnic nation in the State, to sing his undeserved praises and endorse him for second tenure in far away 2027 is absurd and unacceptable.

The grim reality remains that since the administration of Governor James Onanefe Ibori from 1999-2007, aside from Bomadi Bridge, no significant development has been witnessed in Ijaw Land.

Ayakoromo Bridge that was awarded and work started in the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan Administration since 2012 was abandoned by same Uduaghan Government. Governor Ifeayin Arthur Okowa who promised to complete it during his electioneering campaigns in 2015 and 2019, succeeded in deceiving the Ijaw Nation throughout his eight years two tenure. Now Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, who like his predecessor, promised to complete it during his campaigns in 2023, took few granites, pipes and rods to the site at the beginning of his administration. He has not returned to site to make good his promise since then. Ayakoromo Bridge is abandoned, and a death trap to fishermen and others whose means of livelihood is mainly dependent on the river.

Bomadi/Ojobo Road abandoned;

Bomadi/Ohorho Road abandoned;

Bomadi/Gbekebor Road (though a federal road) abandoned, even as the Gbaregolor/Esanma Bridge head along the road hangs in the river, far from the Esanma axis;

Agoloma/Toru-Agiama/Uduophori Road, abandoned;

Asaba Ase/Abari Road abandoned;

Bomadi Polytechnic moribund;

Kiagbodo Technical College abandoned;

Akugbene Technical College abandoned;

Ijaw Land in Delta State is where there is no single Campus of the about five State owned Universities;

Bomadi, Burutu, Patani, Warri Southwest and Warri North where the Ijaws are domiciled in the State are the only local government areas not linked to electricity from the National Grid.

Etcetera! etcetera!! Etcetera!!!

WAY OUT OF THE EVIL/CONCLUSION.

At a time our annual visitor has submerged the entire Ijaw Landscape, killing our people, destroyed farmlands and properties worth billions of Naira, we should mobilize efforts and be focused on calling on government, the private sector and wealthy individuals to come to our aid, like it was obtained at Borno State. Praise-singing at this time is rather sordid, awful and a display of inhumanity. It baffles the mind!

According to Leo Tolstoy, a giant of World Literature and Noble Russian who owned a large Estate and great fortune, "if you feel pain, you are alive, but if you feel the pain of others, you are human".

Bozimo and some of his comrades have since started replacing themselves with their children, occupying the few juicy positions statutorily for the Ijaw People.

Folks, you have served these men and women, do you still want to serve their children along with your children? We must not forget that the political machinations of these leaders place future generations of Ijaw in a virtual state of servitude - serving their interests and the interests of their family. "Servitude for one's family is slavery for all." We must awaken to the reality that our silence and tolerance of these deceptions will perpetuate a cycle of exploitation.

In the science of life, anyone using you without commensurate payment is pushing you to stand on your own. The person is pushing you to greatness that you have been unwilling to embrace. Self realization and actualization is key to life.

Therefore, stop frustrating yourself with your sleepy dependence on the crumbs you get from the table of these hawks. You are a treasure of hidden wealth waiting to unveil yourself.

No longer should we allow our destinies to be dictated to by a handful of political merchants; there is no better time than now, for we, the people, to come together faithfully, be assertive and desperately work to reclaim our power. Else, we and our children will continue to be abused, used and dumped or age tells on us to retire to complete defeat and failure in life. God forbids bad thing!

Okowa clears air on alleged diversion of 1.3 trilion derivation funds, mocks political enemies

Okowa clears air on alleged diversion of 1.3 trilion derivation funds, mocks political enemies

Former Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has not established any fraudulent case against him.

Okowa said he willingly reported to the EFCC office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to clear himself of any fraudulent act.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain said he has nothing to do with the alleged 13 percent derivation fund diversion.

He issued the clarification through his media aide, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika in a statement.

The statement reads partly: “The allegation that the former governor allegedly diverted N1.3 trillion oil derivation funds is as ludicrous as it is outlandish.

“This is just a rehash of the same spurious allegations that some malicious, myopic, vindictive, and prejudiced persons concocted while Okowa was still in office.

“The first point that needs to be made is that the EFCC has not established any case against Dr. Okowa.

“As is customary with the anti-graft agency, the former governor was invited to answer questions relating to some petitions that were filed against him by some disgruntled elements.

“Upon his return from vacation, and as a man with a clear conscience, Dr. Okowa proceeded to the EFCC office in Port Harcourt as requested.

“The substance of the petitions was that Dr. Okowa allegedly corruptly enriched himself and used state resources to acquire 80 percent stake in Premium Trust Bank.
“He was also alleged to have diverted state resources to build housing estates in Asaba and Abuja and two hotels.”

Veteran Journalist, Sola Adebayo Empowers NUJ Warri Members With N25 Million Endowment Fund

Veteran Journalist, Sola Adebayo Empowers NUJ Warri Members With N25 Million Endowment Fund

Veteran journalist and Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Lawal Iyanda Farms Limited, Sola Adebayo, has launched a N25 million endowment fund for members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Warri Correspondents Chapel.

Adebayo, in his magnanimity presented the dummy cheque of the whopping sum, on Tuesday during a brief ceremony attended by some of his friends, and business associates who also made awesome donations to his welfare package for members of the chapel.

The fund, which exceeded its initial target of N10 million, was conceptualized by the renowned media consultant in October, to support journalists in need and promote the well-being of chapel members.

Speaking at his residence during the presentation of the cheque to the leadership of the chapel, Adebayo who had a long standing media practice in Warri before venturing into farming, urged journalists to uphold the profession’s tenets, cultivate lasting relationships, and remain dedicated to their craft.

“As journalists, keep your friends. Journalism is a tool that makes you come in contact with people, therefore, make friends and sustain the relationship.

“Develop core friendship and don’t sacrifice the ultimate for the immediate. I appeal to all of you to be responsible,” he said.

According to the renowned Journalist, the target for the project which commenced on Oct.1, 2024 was N10 million.

He, however, expressed joy that the process was able to hit N25 million.

Acknowledging the contributions of the various donors, Adebayo expressed gratitude to his friends, associates and well-wishers for the success of the project.
“I want to sincerely appreciate all my friends who contributed generously towards this project. When we started the process, the target was N10 million. I am grateful, we exceeded the target,” he said.

Presenting the dummy cheque of N25 million on behalf of Mr Adebayo, Rt. Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Member representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representative called on the public and good spirited individuals to imbibe the culture of giving and assisting one another and groups.

The lawmaker who was highly elated noted that ability to impact on peoples life was significant because a person would be remembered for his/her positive impact and legacies.

According to Chief Ereyitomi, “Sola has been a very good friend and we have been relating well. What we are doing here today is significant in the sense that it has to do with humanity.

“Service to humanity is very key because all of us will grow old and one day leave this planet. What will people say about you? Our ability to impact on others is very key. We need to be conscious of it,” he said.

Chief Ereyitomi called on members of the Chapel to ensure the fund was used judiciously to encourage the donors .

According to him, “when we see that this fund is put into judicious use, we will be encouraged.

“Now that Sola has used this platform to impact, we expect that it will trickle down, to encourage us to do more. Not only for this profession but for others who also want to impact on humanity”.

Also speaking, Hon. Ben Eteanabene, Member representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency said that the project has not ended but a work in progress.

Tackling Insecurity ln Nigeria: A Call for Police Reform_By Akpovoke Otiti

Tackling Insecurity ln Nigeria: A Call for Police Reform_By Akpovoke Otiti

To effectively combat banditry, kidnapping, and armed robbery, the government must scrutinize top police officers. While many Nigerian police officers are dedicated professionals, some exploit their positions to perpetuate evil.

Challenges:

Corruption - Some police officers engage in extortion, intimidation, and falsifying evidence.

Innocent detainees -  Many languish in police custody for crimes they didn't commit.

Police cartels - Rogue officers form networks within the force, undermining justice.

The Nigerian police force is at a crossroads, facing mounting criticism for corruption, misconduct, and ineffectiveness.

Internal affairs require urgent attention. Establishing an Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) will investigate misconduct, while body cameras and dash cams will monitor police interactions. Community policing initiatives will bridge the gap between law enforcement and citizens, promoting mutual understanding.
Merit-based recruitment and promotion processes are vital. Regular training on ethics, human rights, and procedural justice will equip officers with essential skills. Performance evaluations and enhanced welfare will reduce corruption incentives. Collaboration between police and community organizations will further solidify trust.

A multifaceted reform framework is necessary. Institutional reforms will streamline police structure and processes. Operational reforms will enhance investigation and prosecution practices. Cultural reforms will instill accountability and transparency. Key stakeholders, government, police leadership, civil society, and community leaders must collaborate.

Effective implementation requires policy reforms, training, community engagement, monitoring, and evaluation. International expertise can provide valuable insights. Expected outcomes include reduced corruption, improved public trust, enhanced effectiveness, better human rights protection, and safer communities.

Sustained commitment is crucial. Additional measures include a national police database, whistleblower protection policies, psychological support for officers, and community-led policing initiatives. By tackling corruption and misconduct, Nigeria can build a just and secure society, where citizens and police work together for the greater good.

Amnesty Office Clears Ex-N'Delta Agitators on Delay in October Stipends Payment to Some Delegates

Amnesty Office Clears Ex-N'Delta Agitators on Delay in October Stipends Payment to Some Delegates

The Presidential Amnesty Programme wishes to clarify that the delay in the payment of October stipends to some delegates is not from the Office.

The PAP Office had since fulfilled its obligations in the process of payment of stipends to delegates.

In fact, the Office caused payment to be made on October 24 following authorisation by the Administrator, Dr Dennis Otuaro.

It is very likely that the banks of the affected delegates have challenges with their payment systems, and should be able to pay once they resolve the issues.

The Office is concerned that some delegates have not yet received their stipends, and advises the affected delegates to remain calm as they would definitely receive their stipends.

The PAP Administrator prioritises the payment of delegates' stipends, and would never hesitate to fulfill the Office's obligations in the process of payment.

The Office thanks all delegates for their cooperation and understanding.
