Featured Article: That Asupa Who Fled Ayakoromo_By Ekanpou Enewaridideke

It appears this is a season politicians have chosen to flee from one place to another  -  sometimes on whimsical thoughts and wings!
Two prominent politicians fled Ayakoromo on the 25th of January 2025. Rather rigorously there were feeble attempts to deny and cover up this flight by some vested interests but everything has fizzled out. It is chronicled everywhere that Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi and Hon. Forteta Peter Asupa recently fled  Ayakoromo on the day of the famous Olorogun Masquerade Carnival with multicoloured bags laden with logically strong excuses. For Hon. Asupa his dramatic flight to Warri came when he was told the Olorogun Masquerade was on the verge of coming out to display. For Rt.Hon. Pondi he fled to the river away from the shoreline marked for Olorogun's dramatic performance and watched the dramatics from the safety of River Forcados on a speedboat, mesmerised to the extent that people who followed his flight were equally mesmerised beyond the power of words. Great politicians they are because they all bowed differently to the performance dramatics of the famous Ayakoromo Olorogun whose credos and ideals  they didn't want to trample upon sacrilegiously with hubris.
Before Hon. Asupa hurriedly fled Ayakoromo in frightened homage to the famous Olorogun masquerade, the G4 of ward seven  -  an ideologically dedicated collection of thinkers in Ayakoromo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State  -  narratively brought to Asupa's consciousness what he seemed to have forgotten like someone who feasted wholly  on flesh in a given pot of soup ladled into a plate for a meal.

Developmentally in a rare moment of 'appreciative epiphany' the G4 revealed narratively that it was Asupa who renovated the Ayakoromo Community Hall away from the  ravaging annual attacks of flood just as it was the same Asupa of Africa who had  architecturally inspiring blocks of classrooms built at Omotimipere Primary School, Akparemogbene, and Serikoromo Primary School, Oyangbene, in addition to identified number of political appointments he had influenced in ward seven and beyond. Right before him the G4 unambiguously held that Asupa was a king of philanthropy  -  a verifiable philanthropy attested to by the huge amount of money he showered on the Olorogun carnival and the Ayakoromo community on the 25th of January 2025.

In the thinking of the ideologically dedicated G4 Hon. Asupa has not been reciprocally recognised for his developmental strides in ward seven and beyond. It was this void and vacuum in reciprocal recognition  in relation to Asupa's developmental strides the G4 has emerged like frolicsome dolphins on the surface of River Niger, in celebratory recognition of Asupa the political motor-saw of Africa.
Moved to the marrow of their entire anatomy the G4 has appreciatively named Asupa the Development Ambassador because physiologically and anatomically, development of people and communities is the identity mark of Hon. Forteta Peter Asupa. As narrated chronologically by G4, Asupa deserves to be celebrated for his developmental strides as a former
Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, former Honourable Commissioner  and former member of the Delta State House of Assembly whose developmental contours can be traced in Ayakoromo, Akparemogbene and Oyangbene  -  even if cartographically!

The thoughts of G4 which were narratively anchored saw Asupa presented with an appreciative plaque as the DEVELOPMENT AMBASSADOR on the 25th of January 2025 at Ayakoromo on a day the famous Ayakoromo Olorogun Carnival was billed to be celebrated with pomp and pageantry. In response Asupa danced and joyously took photographs with Ayakoromites but fled unceremoniously when he was informed the famous Ayakoromo Olorogun Masquerade was on the way to tell its story of performance to the admiration of spectators.

With the great thoughts the G4 narratively shared on Asupa which eventuated in his  appreciative coronation as the DEVELOPMENT AMBASSADOR, it is incomprehensible why Asupa fled Ayakoromo on a day he was honoured.Who should be blamed? Asupa who fled Ayakoromo before Olorogun emerged? Or the famous Ayakoromo Olorogun Masquerade celebrated for merciless dexterous wielding of its OGIDI the protective weapon of Olorogun?

Memorably, Asupa has created history as the first former Honourable member of the Delta State House of Assembly to be honoured with an award as the DEVELOPMENT AMBASSADOR on the day of the famous Ayakoromo Olorogun Carnival. Asupa has also been chronicled as the first G4 honouree to fear the famous Ayakoromo Olorogun Masquerade in incomprehensible cultural deferrence and flee hurriedly to Warri without a glimpse of the performance dexterity of the Ayakoromo Olorogun Masquerade. Kudos to Hon. Asupa for his developmental strides and kudos to G4 for reciprocal recognition of Asupa's developmental strides on the day of the famous Ayakoromo Olorogun Carnival!

LETTER OF GRATITUDE TO HIS EXCELLENCY, PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU GCFR, FOR SIGNING INTO LAW THE ACT ESTABLISHING THE NIGERIA MARITIME UNIVERSITY, OKERENKOKO, DELTA STATE

His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR,
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
Aso Rock Villa,
Abuja.

DEAR MR. PRESIDENT, WE CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR THIS HEART-WARMING GESTURE

I am writing on behalf of the good people of the Niger Delta, especially, His Magesty Pere Oboro- Gbaraun II, Aketekpe Agadagba,
Council of Chiefs and proud citizens of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State,
to express our most profound gratitude and reverence, for your historic endorsement of the 2025 ACT, establishing the Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Delta State.

It gave full legal backing to the institution, a validation we can’t find enough words to express appreciation.

This magnanimous gesture, thus symbolizes your goodwill towards the region and the unwavering commitment to the advancement of learning and development of its people.

It is an act that came in the nick of time, when all hope was almost exhausted.

Thank you Mr. President, you touched base with us, with this act of courage.

The Nigeria Maritime University Okerenkoko, established in 2014, has been existence, but the absence of an enabling Act hindered its full operationalization and potentials.

For a decade, the institution functioned, but without full legal status. It was on a life support, gasping for desired breath to stay alive.

Therefore, your unexpected approval and signing of the Bill into law caught us unaware and brought with it a total feeling of euphoria.

Now, the ACT will provide the necessary legal framework for the university to thrive.

This milestone ratification will undoubtedly promote education not only amongst indigenes of the Niger Delta, but Nigeria in its entirety, bridging the knowledge gap in the nation’s maritime sector.

Nothing skips Mr. President’s constantly roving attention.
As you are aware, Ghana was the only country in the West African subregion with a Maritime University. As it is, your visionary stewardship has bridged this gap, and Nigeria is now poised to improve its capacity and manpower in the maritime sector.

The university will not only bring development to the oil and gas communities in the Niger Delta, but also curb the pervading youth restiveness in the region. It will create employment opportunities for our teeming youths, and others across the country.

The objectives of the university, as outlined in the Act, align with your administration’s commitment to encouraging the advancement of learning, developing and offering academic and professional programmes, and promoting research and innovation.

Mr. President, your signing of the Bill into law is indeed a testament to your friendship and dedication to the growth and development of the South/South zone .

Indeed, it authenticates and validates your mantra of RENEWED HOPE, for all Nigerians, no matter where they are domiciled.

I recalled that when you visited Oporoza, the ancestral headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, on Friday, November 25th, 2022, you made a pledge to our people to sign the Act establishing the university into law upon your election as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This is promise made and promise fulfilled.

Once again, let me express our sincere appreciation for this landmark achievement.

Your leadership has rekindled enthusiasm amongst Niger Deltans.

It’s on this note that I also wish to congratulate and salute all of us in the South/South belt. Mr. President has done this for all of us. Let us continue to sustain the prevailing peace in our region and unite behind Mr. President in order to attract more development strides to our zone.

Our dear Iyelawei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, we are confident that your government will continue to prioritize the development of the Niger Delta.

Your Excellency, sir, you have in this regard engraved your name in the hearts of the citizens of the Niger Delta, through this decision.

Please accept the assurances of our highest esteem and unwavering support for your administration.

Yours sincerely,

HIGH CHIEF (DR.) GOVERNMENT OWEIZIDE EKPEMUPOLO (ALIAS TOMPOLO) IBE-EBIDOUWEI OF IJAW NATION & CHAIRMAN, TANTITA SECURITY SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED (TSSNL).

US President, Donald Trump Sacks Team Of Lawyers Who Prosecuted Him

US President, Donald Trump Sacks Team Of Lawyers Who Prosecuted Him

United States President, Donald Trump, on Monday, sacked more than a dozen Justice Department lawyers who brought two criminal cases against him.

The officials were sacked after the Acting Attorney General, James McHenry, a Trump appointee, concluded that they could not be trusted to faithfully implement the President’s agenda because of their significant role in prosecuting the President.

According to the termination letter, McHenry cited Trump’s power as chief executive under the U.S. Constitution to justify the firings.

It was gathered that the lawyers worked with Special Counsel, Jack Smith, who led the two federal prosecutions of Trump that the department dropped after his November election.
Smith, however, resigned from the department earlier this month.

The sacking came the same day that Ed Martin, the top federal prosecutor in Washington and a Trump appointee, opened an internal review into the use of a felony obstruction charge in prosecutions of people accused of taking part in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The U.S. Supreme Court raised the legal bar for that offense in a 6-3 ruling last year, prompting prosecutors to drop the charge in several cases.

The moves reflect a willingness by the Trump administration to follow through on threats to seek retribution against prosecutors who pursued Trump and his supporters during his four years out of office.

Trump and his allies view the Justice Department with deep suspicion after prosecutors accused the president of national security- and election-related crimes.

The move came after the Trump administration already assigned up to 20 senior career Justice Department officials, including Bradley Weinsheimer, the top ethics official, and the former chief of the public corruption section, Corey Amundson, from their roles.

Amundson, whose section provided advice to Smith’s prosecutors, announced his resignation on Monday.

The moves to shake up the Justice Department’s workforce have happened before the U.S. Senate votes on Trump’s attorney general nominee, Pam Bondi.

Bondi’s nomination is set to be voted on by a Senate panel on Wednesday.
CN reports that Smith, who was appointed by former Attorney General, Merrick Garland, brought cases accusing Trump of illegally retaining classified documents at his Florida social club and attempting to interfere with the certification of the 2020 election.

However, Trump pleaded not guilty to all charges, arguing that the cases reflected a weaponization of the legal system.

Smith dropped both cases after Trump’s election, citing a longtime-policy against prosecuting a sitting president.
