How a Pastor Stole a $25,000.00 Open Bank Cheque During Dinner in Member's House

How a Pastor Stole a $25,000.00 Open Bank Cheque During Dinner in Member's House

A Successful Nigerian couple invited the Pastor of their Church for dinner in their home in California, United States of America.

After the Pastor left, the couple realized their cheque had disappeared. The man said to his wife; “I think the Pastor has stolen the $25,000.00 open bank check that I kept here on the table of which I had the intention to give to him”.

Angrily his wife exclaimed; “Hmmmm! All of them are just the same. If they are not fake, they are thieves. There is no need to invite him again, we shall from henceforth be attending another Church”.

Two Months Later, the woman met the Pastor on a certain street and was courageous enough to face him and said: “Good morning Pastor, you have surely realised that we no longer attend Church, this is because we're angry with you. The day you ate in our house, there was a $25,000.00 open bank check on the table but unfortunately it disappeared while we we're eating. You were the only Person who visited our house at that time”.

The Pastor said to her, “Yes, I took the cheque. I put it in your Bible to avoid spilling the sauce on it”.

The woman got so confused and asked the Pastor to forgive her.

Back in her house, she took up the Bible and found the bank check which had been there for two months.

This meant that for two months, she had not opened her bible. For two months, she and her husband falsely accused the innocent Pastor. For two months, the incident had tortured them unnecessarily.

How many times do we suspect and accuse other people without reasonable proof, evidence or testimony?

How many times do you wrongly give someone a bad name?

How many times do you misinterpret the actions of a brother or sister that means well for you?

Lesson: if you think your brother has offended you..tell him....ask him...iron it out....do not harbour a grudge or hold a beef for nothing.

Thank you.

So inspiring this is what we sometimes do to others on a daily basis God help us

Ibori and the Native Doctor Story (pt1)

Ibori and the Native Doctor Story (pt1)

It was in a commercial bus... A youngman that watched the vidoe clip of sea of people thronging to catch a glimpse of Chief James Ibori when he recently attended a ceremony in Bomadi,  was prompted to ask: "which native doctor prepare Ibori likeness medicine"? That everywhere he went people fall over themselves just to see him. Someone that left office in 2007, the show of love wherever he goes is unprecedented?

The youngman question may sound unreasonable, however, it is something  worthwhile for the sane mind to ponder on. By a way of interjection, I was quick to tell the youngman that the peoples love for Chief  James Ibori is natural hence no matter how the mainstream media labor vainly to project him negatively, the peoples love remain unwavering and unmovable. While juju induced admiration fade, natural love wax stronger and better. Chief James Ibori has the midas touch to sundry issues. Evidence of this resonated in his administration as the Executive Governor of Delta State.

As we earnestly prepare for 2023, our attention should be directed towards personalities with this excellent spirit of midas touch - going by their antecedents.

MEN WITH MIDAS TOUCH NEVER STRUGGLE TO SUCCEED WHEN ENTRUSTED WITH LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY.

No Be Juju. No Be Native Doctor.

Its a natural something...

Delta 2023: Get ready for explosion of investments in Delta - Gbagi, Delta's biggest private investor

Delta 2023: Get ready for explosion of investments in Delta - Gbagi, Delta's biggest private investor

Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, a frontline guber aspirant in Delta, has begun unfolding his programme for the people of Delta state. Gbagi, an industrialist has much on his sleeves for all Deltans.

One of his biggest plans for the people of Delta is a one million  housing units for the people in one year and four million housing units in four years. He has a dream of making life beautiful for all residents.

By 2023, if given the opportunity to govern, the state, Delta  is definitely heading to be heavily industrialised.

He explained in details that he has completed discussion with his development partners outside the country who will invest in the housing units for Deltans. He said what is important in governance is confidence. He believes that when investors have confidence in a government, investment will flow in with ease.

He said in the last five years, nobody has invested money in Nigeria. And the reasons are obvious, the investors do not have confidence in the government of the nation. But once there is confidence, investors will begin to move in and invest their money in different sectors of the national economy.

He said there is no need keeping money in banks or in homes where it is not useful. He believes that untill money is invested where it would yield, it is not useful to the owner.

"No matter the amount of money in your house , it will not yield any interest unless you invest it in business ventures.  It is then and only then will it yield the required dividends for the owner," Gbagi restated, adding: "I will build one million housing units per annum. In four years, I would have done four million."

For some people with low mind, this is not achievable but not so with Gbagi, an industrial minded individual who is keen on deploying his entrepreneurial skills to continue from where Governor Ifeanyi Okowa will stop.

Gbagi gave kudos to the governor, he told Emerald News editor that Okowa has done excellently well in his development efforts. Today, almost all roads in the state are now motorable. Asaba, the state capital and Okpanam, a suburb of the capital city are classical examples of the development drive of Governor Okowa's administration.

Prior to Okowa's emergence, Okpanam road was a death trap. Major roads in Asaba, DLA road, Agric road, Jesus Saves road, and many other internal roads in Asaba were never motorable during the rains and even during the dry season, they were laden with heavy bumps and potholes. But the governor has changed the narrative. People living in these areas are now happy and showering praises on the governor. But in 2023, the administration will end, giving way to a new one.

Besides the roads, Okowa has completed a massive secretariat for civil servants where all ministries in the state will be housed. Also, the governor has built another massive Teachers' Development Centre in Owa Oyibu for training of teachers in the state and beyond. With these and others too numerous to mention, the governor has printed his name in gold. These are legacy projects Governor Okowa will be remembered for in years to come because they are life time investments.

Gbagi, if given the opportunity is set to build massively on the success story of the Okowa government. He has said it time without number that he is set to turn Delta to the investment hub of Nigeria. He has the blue print. He said this was done in Lagos and other parts of the world where industrialists were pulled together and there was an explosion of investment.

Gbagi insisted that he would make Delta another great place for people to live in. He noted without mincing words that Delta needed a business , security cum legal and industrial mind to turn it around. Hear him: "We cannot pretend to the youths. If we continue to pretend to the youths, they will come to our homes and chase us away. Whether we like it or not, the youths must have food on their table to survive. This is not negotiable."

For him, the narrative needed be changed. It behoves on the governor to see the potentials in him and clear the way. He said the one million housing units will be distributed across the 25 local government areas, pointing out that commerce, population and viability of each local government will determine the quantum of housing units that will be located in each.

He told this journalist on phone, "My government will recognise local government as the hub of economic activities in the state. At the end of my first tenure, there won't be any need for somebody from Ughelli South to move to Ughelli North to look for job or somebody from Ethiope East looking for job in Ndokwa West or someone from Aniocha North moving to Warri to look for job. Why, we will make all local governments substantially viable."

He went further: "What I'm telling you is that every local government in the state, within 12 months, will become viable for commerce, industry and employment for our youths. That is our plan and we are set for it. We will devolve powers to the local governments. We know what to do and how to do it. Just like I created 13 Universities  in less than one year in Nigeria, created 16 Colleges of Education, 14 polytechnics,  eight Federal Government Girls Colleges, 244 Almajiri schools, I know what to do in Delta."

He said all these institutions put together have generated over 11 million gainful employments across the length and breadth of Nigeria, adding that his administration would eradicate unemployment from the state. In this wise, he also commended the governor for the jobs he created for the youths in Delta. Through the Governor Okowa's STEP, YAGEP, and other youth programmes both in the skills acquisition programme and the ones being executed in the ministry of youths, he said the governor has touched thousands of youths in the state.

On the allocation of the one million housing units to Deltans, Olorogun Gbagi said:" We will make sure that by the time we are finishing our first term in office, every single civil servant in Delta state must have owned a home of his/her own. Hold me accountable, after my first year anniversary, you will see all those houses already occupied by Deltans. These houses will be delivered within 12 months. Government will not spend a dime on it, the investors will sponsor the buildings.

"The houses will be classified: we have one bedroom, two bedroom, three bedroom, four bedrooms and duplexes. We have the masterplan of the state already and our development partners are working on it. The United Nations has a declaration that everybody must he sheltered and our government will do exactly that without fail."

He explained  that he had done such before when he was chairman of Delta Development Property Authority (DDPA).

For him, there is nothing one is living for other than making life beautiful and good for others who are less privileged. "We need to be selfless and help the masses with our foresightedness. You will be shocked when we take over government, you will see a tsunami. The whole place will change," he said.

He said Delta is bigger, larger by population, landmass and everything than 42 countries of the world. Hence, he said Delta is a country "and I'm going to operate Delta as a country. I have a masterplan to operate Delta as a country and not just a state.  And being the biggest investor in the state with 12,000 people earning their livelihood from his investment daily, he is keen on using his entrepreneurial gifts  to make Delta a haven for all.

I.N.C to be Wrested from Financial Captivity by Alaowei Fred Owotorufa

I.N.C to be Wrested from Financial Captivity by Alaowei Fred Owotorufa

One of the serious problems bedeviling I. N. C has been identified to be its slavish dependence on government patronage.

Government would continue to run the organisation like one of its insignificant ministries if deliberate efforts are not wielded to evolve sustainable mechanisms to give I.N.C the necessary financial independence.

Owotorufa will never compromise his integrity and bring the Ijaw nation to disrepute by moving from one office to another, using the name of  I. N.C as a medicant's identity.

In Lagos, FREDRICK ENDOROKEME OWOTORUFA was blunt when he explained to the Ijaws of that Chapter how he intends to work hard to imbue I. N. C with a new life and vitality.

With him as President of I. N. C, an IJAW TRUST FUND (ITF), which will be managed by seasoned professionals to fund the programmes and needs of I.N.C, is expected.

Owotorufa understands the language of the International Oil Companies (IOCs), he knows the button that forces them to submission. He is ready to speak that language and click on that button for the financial virility of the I. N. C.

Read what Delta Governor hopeful Gbagi told Idjerhe youths that will interest you

Read what Delta Governor hopeful Gbagi told Idjerhe youths that will interest you

Over the years,  governorship aspirants who later had the opportunity to be governors have come and gone with bogus promises that never materialized.

Their electioneering promises ranged from revamping the education sector, ailing industries, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, agricultural programmes, health schemes, scholarship programmes and the likes that never saw the light of the day.

From 1999 till date, successive governments under their leadership never did  up to 50 per cent of what they promised the youths, rather they made them end up as political thugs trained for election purposes.

But every four years, politicians come to the youths, promising what they know they would never do even if given all the resources in the world.

As soon as they come into either elective or appointed offices, the places reserved for the youths, the "Leaders of tomorrow", are given to family members, cronies, loyalists and sometimes,  exorbitantly sold out.

The appalling show has continued for decades and the 2015 and 2019 crop of politicians,  particularly in Delta State,  are not left out of this politics of self enrichment and have made youths to continuously look up onto them for shelter, food and virtually everything.

The jobless and helpless youths chant "Father, your boys are here", "Anything for the boys? "Our leader", "Make way for the man who know road" and many other phrases just to put food on their tables.

Some of these shameless politicians are again planning to come to the same youths they have kept and left below poverty line for decades to canvass for support, votes and as usual,  empower them  with guns come 2023.

However, there seems to be a new awareness that things should not continue the way they are in Delta,  many reflect on the stone they earlier rejected the past - entrepreneur and  biggest private investor in the state, Olorogun  Barr. Kenneth Gbagi,  and say for 2023, there is light at the end of the tunnel for Delta youths.

Gbagi's plan to build 100 industries in 100 days, no doubt has made him the man of the youths, the right governorship choice for the state, the best and sellable  aspirant across political divide.

On Thursday April 8th 2021, the  most visible aspirant in the 2023 governorship race,  an industrialist,  criminologist and lawyer by training, Olorogun Gbagi, stormed the Palace of the monarch of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal  Majesty, Ovie Monday Whiskey, his maternal home to hint him of his gubernatorial intention.

After  the king and chiefs received and prayed for him,  the mammoth crowd , predominantly youths, took over the premises chanting solidarity songs for the man they love, respect, honour and cherish. But while addressing the men and women, the internationally recognized legal luminary with  connection to people who would drive home his vision and mission for the  state, said: "It is my hope and desire and by the grace of God, I will eradicate poverty from our youths".

The statement aroused a loud ovation from the youths. To them, the youth-friendly governor has come with the message of hope.

Stirring their hope further with more firm assurances, Gbagi, continued:

"These young boys you are seeing today, by the grace of God, I have removed them from the street. We have to form them into a vanguard arrangement. When the campaign starts, we will form you into a group and we will move from one local government to local government, " he asserted.

Olorogun Gbagi, is ready to create jobs for the youths, give them opportunities that would make them excel,  self-employed and self-reliant and become employers of labour.

Media Assistant to Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi, FNIM.

Alaowei Fred Owotorufa is for Resource control and Resource Management

Alaowei Fred Owotorufa is for Resource control and Resource Management

From all accounts about the life of Owotorufa, the fact that he is a man of integrity with a capacity to provide competent and unbendable leadership is in consistent consensus.

Owotorufa's records of works and dealings in the past are without blemish. The records are kept in archives, and are also in accessible public domains; straightforward and impeccable. If you care to search, you will encounter an astounding finding that he was a representative on the 'Presidential Special Security Committee on Oil Producing Areas' where the Ijaw nation was given voice by his capacity and integrity.

Ask and you will receive the amazing answer that, out of his astute belief in the struggle for a better Ijaw nation, Owotorufa used his position as the representative of the International Oil Companies (IOCs) to lobby and influence members of that august 'General Alex Ogomudia Committee' for favourable recommendations.

One of the three key recommendations that emanated from that Committee is the:

"upward review of the minimum 13% derivation to NOT LESS THAN 50%".

This recommendation is no longer valuable to Owotorufa as he is poised to "engage with critical stakeholders of the Ijaw nation to articulate and push the Ijaw position on Restructuring, Resource Control and Resource Management".

Man turns church premises to kidnappers’ den arrested in Delta

Man turns church premises to kidnappers’ den arrested in Delta

....I did it to divert attention

Chioma Okezie-Okeh

For two years, residents of Agbarho community in Ughelli North area of Delta State had been thanking God for the life of a member of the community who they all saw as a hugely successful businessman.

The man, Victor Dominic Ovo, owns an exotic building in the community. And he was generous enough to donate a part of the building to a pastor, who has been using the space as a fellowship centre.

But there was something the pastor and other members of the community did not know. The well-built bungalow believed to be the residential apartment of this ‘successful businessman’ was nothing but a hideout where several kidnap victims were kept.

Members of the church and indeed, the community got the shock of their lives recently when detectives attached to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Led by DCP Abba Kyari who had arrested Victor Dominic Ovo at a different location, stormed the compound. Several persons who gathered for their fellowship took to their heels when they saw Dominic in chains. He led the operatives to the main house where different arms and valuables believed to belong to previous victims were found.

A reliable police source informed the reporter that Dominic is a leading member of a notorious kidnap gang whose members have been smartly picking high profile persons in the state. He and three others identified as Owesi Okpaka, Lawrence Kevwe Egagah, Alex Okoun and Usobotie Sylvester were nabbed when of one their victims summoned courage and petitioned the Inspector General of Police.

The victim, identified as Daniel, a staff of Zenith Bank, Urhobo College Branch, Warri said that he was abducted on October 5, 2020 about 8am by heavily armed men who took him to a house at Agbarho community.

The police source informed that the suspects, during interrogation, also said they abducted two other staff of the bank and carried out several high-profile kidnap operations in the state. The abduction of the bank workers was made possible, it was gathered, through the information provided by Owesi Okpaka, who was a staff of the bank as at the time of the operation. They were nabbed with 14 rounds of live G3 ammunitions, AK-47 rifles and several other weapons. They also led the operatives to another house in the neighbourhood used as a hideout, and which belongs to Lawrence Kevwe Egagah.

Daniel in kidnappers’ den

Recounting his ordeal, Daniel said that he was on his way to work when he was trailed and abducted by heavily armed men.

Said he: “On October 5, 2020 about 8am, I was abducted by a gang of kidnappers. There were four of them in a Mercedes Benz Car; I’m not too sure of the colour of the vehicle. Another car that I had also seen opposite my street followed and blocked me from the rear. I was taken into the Mercedes Benz and we went to a location suspected to be Agbarho community, owing to the duration and number of turns we made before I was dropped. I was kept in a bungalow and made to stay in the passage of the building. The building had four rooms, two toilets, a kitchen and I could hear women fetching water in a well. I was blindfolded, chained in both hands and legs. During the negotiation, they would take me and drive around while I was allowed to talk to my family. I was there for five days and my family paid N15 million before I was released on October 10 2020.”

Why I used church building as hideout for kidnap victims

Dominic, a native of Oghara in Sapelle Local Government Area of Delta State claimed that he was the one who handled the negotiation of ransom. “I dropped out of university and went into wood business and illegal oil bunkering. I also have a poultry farm by the side so that if anyone queries my source of income, I will show them my farm.

“Once you are into anything illegal, you will naturally meet bad friends. This was how I met the others and we formed a five-man gang. I own exotic cars, which we normally used for our kidnap operations.

“The Zenith Bank staff kidnap was arranged by Okpaka who was a staff of the bank. The first person paid us N15million in dollars as ordered by us. The second and third victim also paid the same sum. Okpaka chose the rich ones among them and just as he predicted, they paid good money and my total share from the three victims was about 5million.”

Dominic said his house was used to camp the victims because of the location. “I am seen as a big boy in my area and my house is massive. I gave out the front part to a pastor who knows nothing about my illegal business. People respect me because of that, this is why it is very easy to keep victims there even while people come to the compound to fellowship.

“There was a time the police tracked a number to my area. They did not enter my compound because people were there praising God. This is the reason why whenever we are calling for negotiation with victim’s number, we will move the person to another location before he or she will be allowed to talk to their family.

Apart from kidnapping, I have participated in high profile organised robberies in Ondo state. I did that only three times in 2020.”

Greed drove me into crime

A native of Ubogo Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, Okpaka told the police that he was the one who suggested that the three staff of Zenith bank should be abducted.  “I am not legally married but I have a woman –  Loveth Owhayovwe – who gave birth to a child for me.  I studied Business Administration at Oghara Polytechnic and graduated in 2017, while I was in Oghara Polytechnic, I was working in Zenith Bank as a driver.

“I was the person responsible for the three kidnapping incidents that involved Zenith Bank staff. The first person that we kidnapped was one Daniel. I was the person that monitored him and gave my gang members the location of where he is staying and the type of car that he usually drives. The said Mr Daniel is the Zenith Bank Manager of Urhobo College in Warri and we kidnapped him sometime in the month of October 2020.

“My role was just to provide every needed information about him. I monitored things in office while he was away till the point where I was told by my colleagues in the bank that ransom had been paid. I got N2.5million as my share.

“I could not believe that I made my two years’ salary in one day. So I decided to give them another one. The second was that of Mrs Zowa, the woman is very rich. I monitored her by getting closer and running errands for her.

“I told them exactly when she would get to the spot where she was kidnapped. Just like I predicted, she did not spend up to a week and her family paid. I also got N2.5million as my share.

“I was carried away by greed and decided to give them another one. She is known as Mrs Isioma and is a manager of one of Zenith Bank branches in Delta. I choose her because she is rich but stingy. I got N3.5million as my share. I resigned from the Zenith Bank job in January, 2021 because the money that I collected was enough for me to start up a good business.”

Okpaka said while the three victims were still in their custody, he made sure that no one suspected him. “I was always showing my concern when the news of their kidnap broke. I had money but I would pretend that I am broke so that no one would suspect me. I was not their personal driver but as a bank driver, I know everything about most of the managers of the areas that I cover. They normally send me on personal errands.

“All these happened in October and I waited till January before I resigned. I was shocked when police arrested me through one of the gang members who mentioned my name. I am sorry and beg for mercy.”

Another suspect, Egagah, also from Delta state claimed that he went into crime when he was deported from Dubai. “I got a job in Dubai where I worked in a cargo company as an accountant. Unfortunately, something went wrong and I was deported.

“I have known Okpaka for more than ten years and he used to work in Zenith Bank as a driver. He was the one who came up with the idea to kidnap his former boss. He was still a staff of the bank when he brought the job. He assured us that the man is so rich that he will be able to give us N10million. I called the others and they brought their cars and arms for the operation. The meeting took place in my house. Luckily the man paid more than N10million and my share was N2.5million.

“On the day of my arrest, I was at home when policemen invaded my home and when I tried to run away, they shot me on the leg. It was at the hospital that I got to know the reason for my arrest. I thought they came after us because of fraud which is another business that I do by the side.”

Another suspect, Usobotie, who is also from Delta claimed that he got all the arms from one Emmanuel, claiming that the man was dead.

“I was not part of the gang that kidnapped those bankers. I only helped them to get most of the weapons they used for that operation. I got it from Emmanuel my friend who was a political thug. He was gunned down during one robbery operation at Ughelli and since I knew where he normally hides his arms, I took it and sold it to Egagah. They only gave me N80, 000 and returned it after use.”

Alaowei Fred Owotorufa and the ljaw interest agenda

Alaowei Fred Owotorufa and the ljaw interest agenda

He said ljaw nation is wobbling and there is urgent need to reposition lNC to the right direction. For ljaw nation to make drastic progress and attain the desired recognition in Nigeria,

"We must first of all as a people be united. If we speak in one voice in unity, ljaw nation will surpass her numerous challenges one after the other. We cannot run lNC under the template of lYC. I am coming to change the narrative by intellectually engaging the government, IOCs and other foreign agencies to bring the needed development to ljaw nation.

Because of our crude oil, the lbos and Yorubas wants to annex us forcefully in their maps. Ijaw nation is not Biafra neither Oduduwa, but we are Niger Deltans and can go to our separate ways (Niger Delta Republic), if the need arises. But l tell you, as far as Nigeria is concerned, INC under my leadership will vehemently resist any attempt by the Biafrans and the Oduduwa's to annex any part of ljaw territories. Entrust me and my team with your votes comes 30th April, 2021, pray to God and support me, ljaw nation would be great again."

The words of Alaowei Fred Owotorufa, during the meeting with Lagos state chapter delegates of INC on Sunday.

Barr. Frederick Owotorufa is to pursue Tourism as Alternative to crude

Barr. Frederick Owotorufa is to pursue Tourism as Alternative to crude

The grim reality that oil is now a wasting asset that irreversibly declines in value and viability has begun to stare us squarely  in the face. Truth is, the regime of Petro-economy is phasing out without waiting for the Ijaw man  to wake up from his deep sleep.

Alaowei Fred Owotorufa comes with a determination to pursue Tourism as a leading alternative to the Oil business that has taken so much away from us. He, in his own words, made it clear that he will,

*work with Ijaw leaders of thought, professionals and development partners to optimise the vast but largely untapped tourism potential of Ijaw land*

Owotorufa took good time to explain to the people of Arogbo and Apoi clans of Ondo State in Akure how fertile and suitable our environment is for international tourism. The Agge Palm Beach in Bayelsa State is one fitting example of the tourism prospects in ljaw land that he mentioned.

He has an experience that is vast and profound enough to drive this agenda to good success.

Support Alaowei FRED ENDOROKEME OWOTORUFA with prayers and your VOTE to make the Ijaw land the next destination for International Tourism.

Together, let us work towards a greater, united Ijaw nation.

Security is Alaowei Fred Owotorufa's Primary Constituency

Security is Alaowei Fred Owotorufa's Primary Constituency

The minority status of the Ijaw nation makes the people vulnerable to the vicious predators within the Nigerian State who are already on the prowl to conquer territories for geographic extension and political domination.

Alaowei Fred Owotorufa is a celebrated security expert with impeccable records of excellence and distinction. He comes with that expertise to set up a formidable indigenous SECURITY and INTELLIGENCE ACHETECTURE to protect the the Ijaw territory from external invasion.

He stated in Benin City yesterday, when he interacted with the leaders, stakeholders and delegates of the Benin Chapter of I. N. C that he would,

*work with relevant stakeholders, professionals, and leaders of thought to institute an appropriate security and intelligence architecture indigenous to the Ijaw nation for the protection and policing of all Ijaw communities and her territories*

This can only be fearlessly pursued by a man with the passion and the learning.

Delta 2023: Top 6 contenders ( check who is most qualified in the race)

Delta 2023: Top 6 contenders ( check who is most qualified in the race)

The race to Delta Government House, Asaba, has started in earnest. It is open basically to the Urhobo people of Delta Central,  but Ijaws of Delta South are also clamouring for the office.

Ijaw people  are of the belief that since  governorship  has rotated round the three senatorial districts with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa ending it for Delta North, 2023 is appropriate  time to move it to the ethnic group. With that opinion, Senator James Manager, representing Delta South in the National Assembly and Deputy Governor, Kingsley Otuaro, are in the race from the Ijaw axis.

However, majority of the people of Delta state are of the view that the  power arrangement based on senatorial district, not necessarily zoning, that has worked in the state since 1999 be  sustained.

In point of fact, the power arrangement that has seen governorship move from Delta Central to Delta South and now in Delta North did not come easy, but has worked for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Leaders of the party were  understood to have adopted the power arrangement of senatorial district to senatorial district, but not excluding any party faithful from another senatorial district that wants to exercise his constitutional rights.

Many believe that the senatorial power arrangement will usher peace to the political landscape of the state and not the tribal option that some persons are advancing. By the existing PDP power arrangement, majority of Deltans already know that Okowa's successor will emerge from  Delta Central, which is land of the Urhobos.

Although several names are being mentioned as possible contenders for the exalted position, a number of them are pretenders while  very few are contenders. Among the known contenders are Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, a philanthropist, lawyer, criminologist and highest private  investor in the state; David Edevbie, chief of staff to the Governor of  the state ; Commissioner for Justice, Peter Mrakpor; Commissioner for Works, James Augoye; James Manager and Kingsley Otuaro.

These six men are the major contenders for the office of the governor in 2023. The race has since started and there are various schemings  among the contenders to outdo each other and eventually etch their candidacy in the hearts of the party members, especially delegates that will determine their fate in  the governorship  primary.

But among the aspirants,  one manifestly  stands out with his history of achievements, as the man that can boldly build on the legacies  of the incumbent governor, Senator  Ifeanyi Okowa. Undoubtedly,  Okowa has made great strides in the state, especially in terms of road construction across different cities and communities in the state. Even in the hinter land, he  has also made quite some inroads and brought development closer to their doorsteps.

The contender who stands out among others is Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, who is gearing up to consolidate and build on the achievements of the governor from 2023. Gbagi stands out as the  man to beat in the PDP governorship primary.

Though there are political distractions around him, Gbagi stands shoulder higher than others in terms of programmes and plans to industrialise Delta and make it a haven for investors.

Checks around the state show that among all the contenders for the office, Gbagi is the only man with visible investment in the state. Many others are dwelling on the achievement of the sitting government since they are part of the present administration. But Gbagi, being an industrialist, has rolled out the best blue-print so far to transform the landscape of the state.

Many are seeing Olorogun Gbagi from a distance, if he could carry out the investments he has in the state as a private individual, then one can imagine what he would do when he emerges governor. Many do not agree with him when he said he would build 100 industries in his first 100 days in office. Gbagi , who has the gift of turning nothing into something, spoke from his experience as an entrepreneur.

During a  chat with journalists in Asaba, he said when he was minister for  education (state),  within 30 days after his appointment, he made a proposal to the Federal Executive Council, FEC,  for the establishment of 13 universities, among which is Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE in Effurun, Delta state. He said the 13 were approved without stress by the then sitting President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

He explained how he influenced programmes in the education sector, even in the secondary education system. That was when he was not in charge of the entire system. But for the governorship,  he will be in charge of the affairs of the state. As an investor with special interest in industrialization, Gbagi is poised to raise the bar of business growth and economic life of the people of Delta state.

Looking at him, Gbagi is determined and focused in his agenda to make the state a better place for residents. What is heartwarming about Gbagi is that he is a self-made man that has been tested and found not to be corrupt in the previous government appointments he accepted after much pressure.

And there are facts to that. During the media briefing, he revelead that among all the ministers of former President Goodluck Jonathan, he was the only one not invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigation and questioning.

"All of us are aware that in the first term of President Muhammadu Buhari, his government wielded a very big stick against the personnel who served in the government of Goodluck Jonathan. Besides the personnel who served directly in the government, some officers of the opposition party were invited and quizzed by the anti-graft agency. But there was no mention of Gbagi all through the life of Buhari's first administration and now," he asserted.

This is a great testament to the integrity and honesty of the man, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi. This is an assurance to the people of Delta state that at the likely emergence of Gbagi as governor, their money will be safe and used only  for the business of governance and industrialization of Delta, beginning from where Okowa would stop.

Gbagi also has a good plan for  youths of the state. He has said it loud and clear that  youths will be given a major priority in his government. His industrialization programme is essentially meant to pull Delta youths from the streets of the oil-rich state. He is extremely concerned about the welfare of youths.  Okowa has empowered many with his youth empowerment programme, so it is a foregone conclusion that Gbagi will build on the giant strides.

Finding shows  that his desire to contest for governor is not to enrich himself as practically everybody in the state and nation knows that he is financially blessed even more than many governors and had boasted years  back that God was biased in blessing him with too much wealth. But his interest in governance is to industrialise the state for the good of all. His election will , therefore, be a blessing to all Deltans, both indigenes and non-indigenes resident in the state.

Gbagi is set to build a model state beginning from where Okowa stops. He is set to create a technological and advanced Delta which will be a model of excellence to other states. It is  a good move for Gbagi to have stepped into the race. Deltans, both party members and non-party members,  should embrace his dream for a greater, lovelier and beautiful state.

l will vigorously pursue additional states, LGAs creation for ljaw nation, says Owotorufa

In his bid to bring back ljaw National Congress (l.N.C.) to limelight, the foremost Presidential aspirant in the forthcoming election, Alaowei Fred Owotorufa has assured ljaw nation of his pain to pursue the creation of two additional states as well as local government areas for his people when elected.

He gave the assurance on Saturday in Benin and Akure Chapters of lNC during his campaign trip to delegates from the various ljaw clans in Edo and Ondo States, noted that Toru-Ebe and Oil Rivers states were among the demands contained in the ljaw National Congress (INC) Memorandum that was submitted to the National Assembly in January, 1996.

He stressed that among the three states creation demanded by INC at that time, the former Nigeria Head of State, late Gen. Sani Abacha reluctantly approved and created Bayelsa state only with eight local government areas that was not up to the Nigeria constitution required number of ten. " The reason was that the ljaws are from minority ethnic group at then, hence they took advantage on us."

He proved his profound understanding of the long history of ljaw nation agitation for state creation and unveiled the necessary approaches and steps he intends to adopt in the pursuit of its actualisation.

Speaking further on the areas of traditional institution, Barr. Owotorufa promised Edo and Ondo state ljaws that he will use his good office to intellectually engage any powers that may be to ensure that the five ljaw kingdoms, Egbema, Olodiama, Okomu, Furupagha, Gbaraun in Edo, and Apoi as well as Arogbo clans in Ondo state are given the needed recognition in the state in particular, and Nigeria at large.

According to him, additional states and local government area creation is dearest to his heart and shall take much of the good part of his time in office WHEN elected as President of the prestigious Ijaw National Congress (INC).

" l will vigorously engage traditional institutions, leaders of thought, and relevant stakeholders to seek for the actualisation of the remaining two (2) culturally homogeneous and geographically contiguous states namely Toru-Ebe, and Oil Rivers States which were part of the demands contained in the Ijaw National Congress (INC)  Memorandum that was submitted to the National Assembly in January 1996."

He lamented that Burutu LGA in Delta state and Southern ljaw in Bayelsa state are big enough to be divided into three or more separate local government areas. " If Emir palace in Kano is a local government area on its own, why Burutu and Southern ljaw cannot be divided into six ? It is my utmost desire to use my contacts and connections to actualize this for ljaw nation when given the mandate."

However, Owotorufa speaks not to impress or entertain his audience but, demonstrates the immutable fact that with God and quality leadership all things are possible. He pleaded with the various clan delegates to vote him as the next President of congress for a greater, united Ijaw nation, he asserted.
