Ovuozourie Macaulay is a blessing to lsoko Nation, says Amb. Enarise Ogheneyole

Ovuozourie Macaulay is a blessing to lsoko Nation, says Amb. Enarise Ogheneyole

A former Delta State House of Assembly aspirant in lsoko North Constituency under the platform of SDP in 2019, Amb. Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole Enarise, has described the former Secretary to the State Government and Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, Mr. Ovuozourie Macaulay as a blessing to Isoko nation.

Amb. Ogheneyole, who is Special Assistant (SA) to the Director General of Delta State Orientation Bureau and the DG of Revive Africa Initiative, stated this in Owhelogbo immediately after paying a courtesy visit to the former SSG last week to informed him that he has officially decamped from SDP to the People's Democratic Party, PDP.

He further maintained that Mr. Ovuozourie Macaulay is a political role model who worked so hard to get to the top and lowered his shoulders for many current Isoko leaders to climb to political lime light. He noted that if you take a head count of current Isoko prominent politicians, only a microscopic few can boldly tell the political story without the input of Ovuozourie Macaulay.

According to him, said: " I must maintain that Macaulay's entrance into politics changed the political dynamics of Isoko Nation. He Laboured so hard to bring Isoko to its pride of place in the comity of ethnic groups. He also gave a good account of himself by attracting several projects to Isoko nation as dividends of Democracy.

When asked why he chose to visit Macaulay first. He said " Okiroro is the undisputable leader of PDP in Owhelogbo which happens to be my ward. He is also a foremost leader of the party in Isoko North and Isoko nation by extension. More so Ovuozourie Macaulay is a fine wine politically, respect nationally by the party structure, he has a bime that opens great doors and his goodwill is overwhelming. I have chosen to allign with him as my political leader as I join the PDP family and we are willing to learn from him and consolidate on his lagacies.

Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole Enarise until his decamping to PDP was the leader of SDP in Isoko North and the house of assembly aspirant of the party in the 2019 elections.

Taskforce Seal Residential buildings in Warri over discharge of faeces to public drain

Taskforce Seal Residential buildings in Warri over discharge of faeces to public drain

Following complaint by neighborhoods, team of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment has on Thursday sealed up six residential buildings along Eboh, Odibo extension road in Warri South LGA, of the State over indiscriminate discharge of toilet faeces to natural water canal, thereby causing air pollution that is inimical to human health when inhaled.

It was discovered that most landlords in Etseghan street, off Eboh and Odibo extension road does not have soakaway neither sceptic tanks in their buildings. Rather they channel their toilet, bathroom and kitchen waste pipes directly to the natural water canal thereby polluting the environment.

A tenant who don't want her name to be mentioned narrated that due to the human excretion deposits at the canal, reptiles such as boa and other wild creatures use to terrorize the environment. " l have stopped using my toilet because most times snake normally pass through the pipe from the canal to the house. We  are no longer safe in our home as result of the menace. We have complained to our Landlord to provide soakaway and the project is ongoing," the woman stated.

However, Chairman of the State Taskforce on Environment, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, has charged Landlords in warri, Uvwie, Udu and other parts of the State to provide soakaway in their homes, stressing that channelling toilet pipes to public drain as well as natural water canals is punishment offense.

" Let's help government to serve you better. What we are doing is to ensure serene habitable environment for all Deltans. Support Gov. Okowa led administration to safeguard our environment so as to attract foreign investors to the State, Oromoni remarked ".

Meanwhile, the state taskforce had issued a fine ranging from fifty thousand naira (N50, 000) and above to each of the various landlords in the area to pay over violating the law. They where further urged to immediately provide soakaway and sceptic tanks in their buildings, so as to be at the safe side of the Delta State Environment Law.

Anxiety as PDP fears loosing Jonathan to APC, visit Ex-President, Beg him to stay

Anxiety as PDP fears loosing Jonathan to APC, visit Ex-President, Beg him to stay

The People's Democratic Party, PDP leaders has urged the former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to participate more in the affairs of the party.

The PDP Chieftains on Tuesday, August 31, also appealed to Jonathan not to abandon the party at such a trying time.

On his part, the former President assured the leadership that he is solidly behind the party and has no intention of abandoning it.

The perceived silence of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over the ordeals of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, has become a recipe for worry among party leaders. This was majorly why a delegation led by the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Yemi Akinwonmi, paid him a visit in Abuja on Tuesday.

Wisdom lkuli Appeals to ljaw youths not to neglect ljaw girls for marriage, gives reason

a Critical Stakeholder in the Ijaw Project, I condemn the increasing cases where our Ijaw youths often abandon their Ijaw girlfriends to marry outsiders.

It is inhuman to abandon the young girls that suffered with you when things were rough and difficult only to go and marry outsiders when the economy improved.

In most cases, the outsiders are not even more beautiful than our angelic Ijaw girls/ladies. Again, beauty goes beyond outward physical appearance.

I am yet to see girls that are more accommodating, patient, loving and caring like our outstanding Ijaw girls.

Our young men should stop finding faults and excuses to justify their actions of dumping Ijaw girls whenever it is time to enjoy the fruits of their labours.

It is important to know that those ladies our young men abandon Ijaw ladies that laboured with them and run after whenever they make success could have acted worst if they found themselves in the pitiable condition our Ijaw girls were with you.

It is good for our girls to also enjoy the good things of life and not always suffering only to be abandoned whenever it is time for enjoyment.

JAMB Cancels General Cut-off Marks for Schools to Decide across the country

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cancelled the national admission benchmark also known as cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions.

This allows each of the nation’s tertiary institutions to peg its admission benchmark.

The decision was taken at the 2021 policy meeting which was held virtually and chaired by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

The board’s registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, stated: “Some universities such as University of Maiduguri proposed 150, Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto proposed 140, Pan Atlantic University proposed 210, University of Lagos 200, Lagos State University 190, Covenant University 190, Bayero University Kano, 180.

“Institutions have now been given the liberty to decide cut off marks, there will be no cut off from JAMB.”

On the deadline for the closure of admissions, the stakeholders resolved to allow the ministry to decide as they could not agree on the December 31, 2021 deadline for all public institutions and January 31, 2022, for all private institutions.

Stakeholders also adopted the 2021 admission guidelines, which provide that all applications for part-time or full-time programmes for degrees, (NCE) National Certificate In Education, OND (Ordinary National Diploma), and others must be posted only through JAMB.

The meeting approved that for Direct Entry, the maximum score a candidate can present is 6 and the minimum is 2 or E, as required by law.

Late. Muammar Gaddafi of Libya and his Concept of a United States of Africa

Late. Muammar Gaddafi of Libya and his Concept of a United States of Africa

Did you know that the concept of a 'United States of Africa' takes its origin from Marcus Garvey's 1924 poem "Hail, United States of Africa", and that the proposed federation would have been the largest total territory of any state, and the third most populous state after China and India?

The United States of Africa is a hypothetical concept of a federation of some or all of the 54 sovereign states and two disputed states on the continent of Africa. The idea of a multinational unifying African state has been compared to various medieval African empires, including the Ethiopian Empire, the Ghana Empire, the Mali Empire, the Songhai Empire, the Benin Empire, the Kanem Empire, and other historic nation states.

During the late 19th and early 20th century the majority of African land was controlled by various European empires, with the British controlling around 30 percent of the African population at its peak.

The term "United States of Africa" was mentioned first by Marcus Garvey in his poem Hail, United States of Africa in 1924. Garvey's ideas and formation systems deeply influenced former Africa leaders and the rebirth of the African Union (AU). All African states are members of the AU.

In February 2009, upon being elected chairman of the 53-nation African Union in Ethiopia, Gaddafi told the assembled African leaders: "I shall continue to insist that our sovereign countries work to achieve the United States of Africa."

The BBC reported that Gaddafi had proposed "a single African military force, a single currency and a single passport for Africans to move freely around the continent". Other African leaders stated they would study the proposal's implications, and re-discuss it in May 2009.

The focus for developing the United States of Africa so far has been on building subdivisions of Africa - the proposed East African Federation can be seen as an example of this. Former President of Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade, had indicated that the United States of Africa could exist as early as 2017. The African Union, by contrast, has set itself the task of building a "united and integrated" Africa by 2025. Gaddafi had also indicated that the proposed federation may extend as far west as the Caribbean: Haiti, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and other islands featuring a large African diaspora, may be invited to join.

Gaddafi also received criticism for his involvement in the movement, and lack of support for the idea from among other African leaders. A week before Gaddafi's death during the Libyan Civil War, South African President Jacob Zuma expressed relief at the regime's downfall, complaining that Gaddafi had been "intimidating" many African heads of state and government in an effort to gain influence throughout the continent and suggesting that the African Union will function better without Gaddafi and his repeated proposals for a unitary African government.

Gaddafi was ultimately killed during the Battle of Sirte in October 2011. While some regard the project to have died with him, Robert Mugabe expressed interest in reviving the project. Following the 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état, Mugabe resigned as President. On 6 September 2019, Mugabe died.

However, the nations of Eritrea, Ghana, Senegal, and Zimbabwe, have supported an African federation. Others such as South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria have been more skeptical, feeling that the continent is not ready for integration. North African countries such as Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, and post-revolution Libya who have traditionally identified more with rival ideologies like Arab nationalism, Berberism and Islamism have shown less interest in the idea.

Doubts have been raised about whether the goal of a unified Africa can ever be achieved while ongoing problems of conflict and poverty persist throughout the continent.

The proposed federation of the United States of Africa would have been the largest total territory of any state, exceeding the Russian Federation. It would also be the third most populous state after China and India, and with a population speaking an estimated 2,000 languages.

Amaechi's Confession shows that Quiet stealing is a policy of APC govt, Says PDP

Amaechi's Confession shows that Quiet stealing is a policy of APC govt, Says PDP

August 30, 2021

Press Statement

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the confession by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, that stealing is going on quietly under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC), vindicates its stand that the APC is a haven of thieves and treasury looters.

The party asserts that the confession also further confirms that the Buhari-led APC administration has been providing official cover for corrupt officials, who have turned government agencies to cash cows and Automated Teller Machines (ATM) for themselves, their cronies, family members and mistresses.

The situation as presented by Amaechi shows that 'quiet stealing' is a policy of the APC administration. This explains why the administration is heavy on propaganda and has failed to prosecute its officials and APC leaders openly indicted for corruption, but only resort to “easing out” such thieves with a pat on the wrist.

The confession by Amaechi exposes why the APC administration has failed to recover the over N25 trillion naira reportedly stolen by APC leaders in various government agencies.

Nigerians now have a clearer picture on how the N9.3 trillion as detailed in the reported NNPC memo was stolen, how over N2 trillion was allegedly siphoned under fraudulent subsidy regime as well as how the N1.1 worth of crude oil was reportedly stolen using 18 unregistered vessels.

This is in addition to the revelation by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen. Babagana Monguno, that billions of naira meant for security under the APC could not be traced.

Nigerians now know how billions of naira reportedly stolen from various agencies including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in which a very top APC government official was indicted, as well as the N500 billon Social Investment Programme fund, as revealed by First Lady, Aisha Buhari, were siphoned.

Amaechi’s confession has also shed more light on the circumstance behind the alleged stealing of N165 billion in the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) under his ministerial purview, the N1.5 trillion and $9.5 million reportedly stolen from Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the $65 million (N31 billion) frittered from the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) as well as the N90 billion looted from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), among others.

This is in addition to the alleged secret looting of huge part of foreign loans and repatriated funds placed at the disposal of the APC and its administration.

The APC has looted our nation into two excruciating economic recessions in a space of six years, and turned our nation into the poverty capital of the world, where over 83 million citizens live in abject impoverishment and unable to afford basic necessities of life.

The PDP charges Nigerians to hold the APC and its leaders responsible for all the woes that have befallen the nation in the last six years and ensure that the fizzling APC is not allowed anywhere near the governance of our nation, come 2023.

Kola Ologbondiyan

Bonny River attack, Nigeria military denies gun fire at Cargo boat

Bonny River attack, Nigeria military denies gun fire at Cargo boat

August 29, 2021

Press Release

 DHQUpdate

The attention of the military has been drawn to a purported report by some print and online media stating that "the military fired at a cargo boat conveying people and food stuff from Port Harcourt to Bonny”. This report is false and calls to question the credibility of the online news medium.

Contrary to the report, the Air Component of the  Joint Task Force Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS) recieved reports from ground troops who were on clearance operations but encountered resistance at the point of encounter. On receiving the report a combat helicopter was despatched to provide close air support mission along the Cawthorne Channel.

The helicopter encountered an illegal oil bunkerers' boat popularly called "Cotonou Boat". The boat  which was being escorted by 2 speedboats was suspected to be carrying  illegally refined oil products in large drums along the Channel in the direction of OPDS patrol boats. On sighting the boat, warning shots were fired to dissuade the crew from hostile action. The crew fired back at the helicopter and the boat was engaged accordingly.

The 2 speedboats detached from the convoy at high speed leaving the "Cotonou Boat" which was neutralised. The helicopter later went after the 2 speedboats but was unable to track it.  The suspects are still at large and a manhunt has been sent out to apprehend them.

The military remains a professional institution that operates in line with best practices through the application of rule of engagement and code of conduct. It is also positioned to protect the populace rather than victimising them. Efforts by anyone to protect criminality by disparaging the actions of the Military in preventing economic sabotage and other sundry crimes need to be condemned by all.

The general public is therefore enjoined to disregard the report and  continue providing accurate information to troops that will lead to the attainment of own operational mandate of safeguarding lives, properties as well as government assets in the South South region.
