Warri _____ Ogbe-ljoh Warri Kingdom, headquarters of Warri South-West Local Government Council of Delta State was over the weekend soaked up with caliber of personalities from all walks of life across the Niger Delta region, as the remains of the former Transition Committee Chairman of WSWLGA, High Chief (Hon.) David Nane Pere (JP), the lbediwei of lzansa/ljelejele/ Ekeremor communities of Ogbe-ljoh, who is a big father in-law to the famous young Niger Delta emancipator who doubled as the Chief Security Officer, CSO to the General Manager Operations Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Alaowei Louis Preye Ogbeghan aka Okpolokpo as he buried his late father in-law in a grand style to the amazement of friends, dignitaries and well wishers at the occasion.
The late Chief David Pere was a renowned politician and critical stakeholder of ljaw National Congress, INC who lived a well fulfilled life in serving humanity over seven decades before passing unto eternal glory.
He was a dedicated christian and elder of the Living Faith Church aka Winners Chapel, Water Resource regional headquarters, warri.
He died at age 72 after brief illness. He was survived by a wife, 9 children, 16 grandchildren, brothers, sisters, son and daughter in-laws and many relations.
Meanwhile, the body of late David Pere leaves Vennel Hospital Mortuary Warri at about 8:45AM on Friday in a motorcade to Miller Jetty NPA via barge to Ogbe-ljoh Community for christian funeral/night burial at Ewein primary school field.
While on the barge to his home town Ogbe-ljoh, there was a fanfare and carnival like musical interlude and cultural dance entertainment as the popular talented Ayakoromo born ljaw owigiri high life music maestro, Gen. Best May JFred mount the center stage to thrilled sympathizers with scentilating lyrics of ljaw owigiri songs.
The corpse was accompanied by the Ogbe-ljoh traditional council of chiefs. It arrived Ogbe-ljoh at about 11:30AM for a brief stop over at his compound before onward procession round the community. This was followed by lying in state at Ewein primary school for funeral service conducted by a team of pastors from the Living Faith Church Ogboroke, Effurun warri.
Delivering his sermon at the funeral service, pastor Oluwatimileyin Adetokunbo described late elder David Pere as a great man that made positive impact in the church in particular, and the society at large.
Adetokunbo said resurrection and judgement were at hand, hence he admonished believers as well as sinners for a positive change of heart as there is no repentance in the grave.
While praying God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest, pastor Adetokunbo charged his children to immortalize their late father legacy by promoting the good traits he radiated while on earth.
Immediately after the sermon and funeral service in accordance to the living faith church, the remains of Chief David Pere was taken to the graveside by the undertakers and interred at about 2:50PM.
At the grand reception, Alaowei Okpolokpo was joined by friends and well wishers, families, colleagues from Tantita Security Services among other sympathizers to bid his amazing father in-law final farewell.
The afternoon social wake keep reception was eventful and colourful as the children and inlaws of Papa danced with their loved ones and well wishers to the melodious and captivating ljaw owigiri highlife music soundbeats of Dr. Alfred lzon-ebi alias Jking.
The late lbediwei of lzansa/ljelejele/ Ekeremor communities of Ogbe-ljoh Warri kingdom was also given a befitting night social wake keep till dawn in accordance to the ljaw tradition as the popular Ogbe-ljoh born Mienkuro ljaw highlife owigiri music taliban, Chief Kingsley Takemebo thrilled guests with electrifying performance at his compound in Ogbe-ljoh.
However, CSO Okpolokpo has expressed gratitude and appreciation to God Almighty for the successful burial rites of his beloved great father in-law over the weekend amidst fair weather, crisis and accident free.
He further appreciated his immediate family, in-laws, colleagues, friends and well wishers for their solidarity and show of love before, during and after the burial ceremony, praying God to grant their heart desires in a thousandfold, he remarked.
