Wike lambast Umahi, says God won’t give Nigeria another President like Buhari

Wike Lambast Umahi, says God won’t give Nigeria another President like Buhari

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has hit out at his Ebonyi State counterpart, Dave Umahi, who said God will give Nigeria a president “who has a good heart like President Muhammadu Buhari” in 2023.

Umahi had made the remarks while addressing State House correspondents on Monday, after meeting with Buhari at Aso Villa in Abuja.

But Wike, in a veiled reference to Umahi, said that his colleague had lied.

Wike claimed that even Buhari himself knows that God won’t give the country another president like him in 2023.

The governor stated this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt, the state capital, while addressing business owners.

Wike said: “That was how a governor was saying that he prays that Nigeria gets another President like Buhari.

“I said what has gone wrong with him? You mean there shouldn’t be (a) psychiatric check on the governor? Sycophancy.

“And you know that the President knows that you are telling lies to him. He (Buhari) knows.

“It is unfortunate. May God help us", Wike stated.

BECAUSE YOU WERE TOLD ? By Asiayei Enaibo

In the journey of life, some fall, some rise, some move and made head ways from the unexpected root  to goal getters, some are being pillared by others to stand, some create their own forest overcoming the dangers of life to become successful Oak tree that shade others, and those whom the benevolent spirit crack their palm kernels should not mock the misfortunes of others. Such is the life story of Everyman.

Love is a very strong force in the mind of men, it is one of the pillars in the pyramidal triangle of creations as the last elements, starting from Light, Life and love.

Yes, love is a bond to  humanity, according to John Donne, a seventeenth century poet who once said "man's death diminishes me, why because I am involved in mankind"  but some find pleasure to set a pit dug to kill the aspirations of people who try to strive, today hatred has been overtaken by love. Some are linked, born out of mutual connection of people they so much believe, they think that they have infallible ideas, whatever they said seem to be correct without finding out, they are always on the yes sir nods of head of confirmation. From the head to the workers who probably do not know what lead to hatred continue in their own manner. Unknowing to them,  hatred connected through people is dangerous because no one stays in one particular place forever.

Life is a circle, as we move, we move in one enclave of life in a destination that is not certain today. The boy you hate without reasons today because you were told, can be your saviour tomorrow, who have vital information to share with you, and because your friends want to maintain to eat from you, they feed you with what you always want to hear.

How will you probably hold grudges against someone through hearsays, it is a sign that the one listener is in a big trouble to free himself, either he is hypothesized,  because those informant will continue to deprive the persons in question for them not to come in contact with you, as they too are not on the know of what transpired. But to the great mind he will quickly call for an audience of the perceived opinion, to clear doubt in the direction of reason, for such are the great philosophers and leaders of vast knowledge, can you say this when Mr. B is here? Look him in the eye then the story will change. Most businessmen and politicians can't pinpoint their enemies, rather their friends create more enemies for them to hold grudges, and they too are too busy to hear from both party, they end up being one sided. Could this be a spell?

According to Ekanpou Enewaredideke, "everything has a cosmically fixed retirement age"

No one can vindictively block your progress when the time comes, God will clear the stone unknowingly to the creator of the stone.Three world exist, yesterday, today and tomorrow, they are not responsible to man but to God.

There are leaders we have now, they have a scheme where they pay informants in a community where they came from, questioning, "who is opposing me? Record of them to connect their Network of hatred.

Yes instead of building capacity in the communities, they are buying data for their phones, feed them fat to manage their poverty upon graduation from University, such are the new Activist we see in our communities, whoever that stand for the collective benefits of our communities is an enemy, his reign as chairman or any position will not be successful, as he stands for truth, so that they can serve them and their children all their lives. While their children are leaving big, in overseas, work in ministries, wives head of departments, while some youths  become Akpasibewei 1 of Niger Delta and a perceived political enemies to people you bearly know nothing about, yes! some, instead of using their potentials for productive ventures, we are using them for praise singing. Being over loyal, neck bend towards poverty of the survival of yes throughout. When youths are making head  ways to succeed, instead of you to try to encourage them, you never responded to them, because you were told of one fairy tale about them but once it is for outsiders, you want to make name outside as a philanthropist. My brother, Charity begins at home. If you do not build from within, you will soon see the return of The Wives' Revolt, this time in a more aggressive one to change the narrative.

Bank of Ogiren, once you have unproductive people around you, what you get is unproductive ideas, they only talk about people not what value that could improve your career but their interest is to form stone on the path of others, unknowingly, it is a temporary practice that won't last forever.

Because "you were told" is a dual phenomenon, it can create prospect of Grace and hatred. Love head the prospect, hatred tailed the second aspect which is very common.

When you hear something, look for a second source, and find out directly. Not all followers are good followers and not all preconceived enemies are actually your problem but they are created by your own doing with a close mind of hearsays. Just Because "YOU WERE TOLD".

YOUTHS AND POTENTIALS-By KINGSLEY BURUTU OTUARO

YOUTHS AND POTENTIALS-By KINGSLEY BURUTU OTUARO

The world does not need university thesis or any peer reviewed article to be awakened that economies of different countries have been battered and impacted adversely by the covid-19 pandemic. The ravages of the covid-19 pandemic are still in the world, particularly now that its mutations have given birth to rampaging variants of the global scourge. With once productive industries and companies left comatose by the global scourge of covid-19, huge job losses have become the next scourge in the world because companies, industries and government  have become disastrously too incapacitated to engage and employ the teeming youths annually thrown into the labour market. This is why youths, their talents, potentials, skills and capacities should be healthily and sufficiently channelled to the growth of the society.

The sad commentary everywhere is the scourge of fast rising inflationary trend, job losses and unemployment. To contain this scourge and live sustainably in the society, priority attention must be given to talent-discovery, talent-development, potential-development and commercialization of talents and potentials. Through hardwork, Nigerian youths should discover their potentials, develop their talents and potentials and commercialise them. Sustainable survival possibilities of youths become endangered if talents and potentials discovered and developed are not deliberately built into a commercial framework . Talents and potentials discovered and developed without being commercialized  are open invitation letters to impoverishment because it is like giving fish to somebody without teaching him how to fish. Here it is far better to develop and commercialize your potentials by imbibing Zenko Suzuki's words that: 'If you give a man a fish, he has but one meal; if you teach him how to fish...', (512, FROM THIRD WORLD TO FIRST).

Talents and potentials could be discovered and developed in music, journalism, agriculture, sports, comedy, business, wrestling, oratory, crisis-management and crisis-resolution. The moment youths are able to discover and develop their talents and potentials in any of these mentioned fields of human endeavour, the next stage is the commercialization of the talents and potentials.

A well developed and commercialized talents and potentials would be the road to economic independence, economic sustainability and economic invulnerability because hundreds of thousands of people would flock to such persons to engage them commercially for various engagements. In commercialised talents and potentials lies the 'yawu' of wealth-creation, the yawu of prosperity, the yawu of social and economic transformation, not the yawu of ritual killings and internet-consolidated manipulative gimmicks. Development and commercialisation of potentials is a legalised 'yawu' of wealth-creation and sustainable growth for Nigerian youths in an environment dominated and ruled by the scourge of covid-19-induced economic hardship, inflation and unemployment.

For a society animated by visionary transformation of its teeming youths, a vision of deradicalising them away from banditry, armed robbery, terrorism, drug-addiction, rape, prostitution, 'yahoo-yahoo', ritual killing and kidnapping, a solid foundation must be laid for them to discover, develop and commercialise their potentials. To develop and commercialise the talents and potentials of youths is to deradicalise them in advance and channel their minds towards profitable productive ventures. This explains why my development theories are geared towards redirecting the youths positively within the developmentally elastic and impactful framework of Governor Okowa-led SMART agenda from which  my development theories are derived and built as an appendage or accompaniment because  the Governor Okowa-led SMART agenda is the pivotal element of my development theories.

Youths are the lifeblood of a nation. There is no country or state without youths because youths determine the direction of society; youths determine the developmental trajectory of tomorrow in a nation. Youths constitute an integral part of the growth and transformation of society based on their current productive engagements viewed against the background of future development matters now seen in their promising outlines. In every state everything must be done to develop the talents and potentials of youths for commercialization. This is the awareness, the orientation, the consciousness, that underpins most of my development theories. This is even more importantly why Governor Okowa has created the enabling structures to engage the youths entrepreneurially and agriculturally through his skills and capacity-development platforms such as YAGEP (Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurship Programme), STEP (Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme), RYSA (Rural Youths Skills Acquisition Programme), WESAP (Women Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme), GEST (Girls' Entrepreneurship and Skills Training Programme) and GEEP (Graduate Employment Enhancement Programme).

Nothing gladdens  the heart much more than the realization that engagement programmes like  GEST, YAGEP, WESAP and many others  which create a vista of possibilities for youth talents, skills and potentials to be developed and commercialised, Governor Okowa has built the supportive framework for MSMES (Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises) to thrive and grow in Delta State, showing clearly that the Delta State Government is committed to the welfare of its teeming youths.

Sufficiently developed and commercialised talents and potentials, a component of 'human resource development', treasured by Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore as highlighted in the book, FROM THIRD WORLD TO FIRST, must be viewed with all the seriousness in the world. Alongside developed and commercialised talents and potentials, youths must have aspirations to take society ideologically to a higher level of achievement and growth. Stagnation is the word in a society where youths don't aspire to attain great heights. Our youths should therefore be ready to attain heights envisioned to make our environment grow like a mustard seed. There is no mustard seed-like development in  the society where youths are not fired by aspiration to attain new and greater heights of transformation.

However, for the purpose of emphasis, clarity and better comprehension, let it be known that developed and commercialised talents and potentials are tantamount to teaching somebody how to fish. We must therefore inspire and teach our youths how to fish by creating platforms and structures for the youths to commercialise their talents and potentials and become economically strong and sustainable in the face of covid-19-induced economic challenges ravaging the economies of various countries in the world. These are the benefits of what I would rather terminologically call 'economies of commercialised talents and potentials'.  The enablers for the economies of commercialised talents and potentials had long been provided by Governor Okowa through the entrepreneurial, agricultural and skills development platforms and structures.

In Delta State there are already existing structures created by Governor Okowa as enablers for the discovery, development and commercialization of talents and potentials of youths who are ready to discover, develop and commercialise their talents, skills and potentials for a sustainable living away from the scourge of inflation and unemployment caused by the covid-19 pandemic. The entrepreneurship, skills development and empowerment platforms of the Delta State Government must be embraced by youths with commitment.

To align myself ideologically with the thinking of Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore  who believes that 'that trained talent is the yeast that transforms a society and makes it rise' (544, FROM THIRD WORLD TO FIRST), developed and commercialised talents and potentials, which constitute the passport of sustainable living and survival in a world of covid-19-induced economic challenges, must be cultivated by youths for unstoppable growth and development for both at the societal and individual levels. This should be the focus of Nigerian youths, particularly the youths in Delta State for whom Governor Okowa has already provided the structures and platforms that make realisable this focal dream of economically independent and sustainable living in a world of covid-19-induced economic challenges where the individual or the youths are equipped with their developed and commercialised talents and potentials to navigate and negotiate the bends in the society within the developmentally meaningful and impactful framework  of His Excellency  Dr. Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa-led SMART agenda.

....... promises to move Delta to the next level when given the mandate

Francis Tayor

Chief. Mulade, who is a Gbaramatu born foremost, highly respected global Human/Environmental Rights activist cum philanthropist noted that he decided to join the race because he has what it takes to transform Delta state from the shadows of underdevelopment when given the mandate.

He said the ljaws in Delta state had over the years supported other ethnic groups in the state to become governor, stressing that it is now the turn of the ljaws to produce the next governor of the state.

Ovuozourie Macaulay is a blessing to lsoko Nation, says Amb. Enarise Ogheneyole

Ovuozourie Macaulay is a blessing to lsoko Nation, says Amb. Enarise Ogheneyole

A former Delta State House of Assembly aspirant in lsoko North Constituency under the platform of SDP in 2019, Amb. Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole Enarise, has described the former Secretary to the State Government and Director General of the Warri, Uvwie and Environs Development Agency, Mr. Ovuozourie Macaulay as a blessing to Isoko nation.

He further maintained that Mr. Ovuozourie Macaulay is a political role model who worked so hard to get to the top and lowered his shoulders for many current Isoko leaders to climb to political lime light. He noted that if you take a head count of current Isoko prominent politicians, only a microscopic few can boldly tell the political story without the input of Ovuozourie Macaulay.

According to him, said: " I must maintain that Macaulay's entrance into politics changed the political dynamics of Isoko Nation. He Laboured so hard to bring Isoko to its pride of place in the comity of ethnic groups. He also gave a good account of himself by attracting several projects to Isoko nation as dividends of Democracy.

When asked why he chose to visit Macaulay first. He said " Okiroro is the undisputable leader of PDP in Owhelogbo which happens to be my ward. He is also a foremost leader of the party in Isoko North and Isoko nation by extension. More so Ovuozourie Macaulay is a fine wine politically, respect nationally by the party structure, he has a bime that opens great doors and his goodwill is overwhelming. I have chosen to allign with him as my political leader as I join the PDP family and we are willing to learn from him and consolidate on his lagacies.

Ugagaoghene Ogheneyole Enarise until his decamping to PDP was the leader of SDP in Isoko North and the house of assembly aspirant of the party in the 2019 elections.

Taskforce Seal Residential buildings in Warri over discharge of faeces to public drain

Taskforce Seal Residential buildings in Warri over discharge of faeces to public drain

Following complaint by neighborhoods, team of the Delta State Taskforce on Environment has on Thursday sealed up six residential buildings along Eboh, Odibo extension road in Warri South LGA, of the State over indiscriminate discharge of toilet faeces to natural water canal, thereby causing air pollution that is inimical to human health when inhaled.

It was discovered that most landlords in Etseghan street, off Eboh and Odibo extension road does not have soakaway neither sceptic tanks in their buildings. Rather they channel their toilet, bathroom and kitchen waste pipes directly to the natural water canal thereby polluting the environment.

A tenant who don't want her name to be mentioned narrated that due to the human excretion deposits at the canal, reptiles such as boa and other wild creatures use to terrorize the environment. " l have stopped using my toilet because most times snake normally pass through the pipe from the canal to the house. We  are no longer safe in our home as result of the menace. We have complained to our Landlord to provide soakaway and the project is ongoing," the woman stated.

However, Chairman of the State Taskforce on Environment, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, has charged Landlords in warri, Uvwie, Udu and other parts of the State to provide soakaway in their homes, stressing that channelling toilet pipes to public drain as well as natural water canals is punishment offense.

" Let's help government to serve you better. What we are doing is to ensure serene habitable environment for all Deltans. Support Gov. Okowa led administration to safeguard our environment so as to attract foreign investors to the State, Oromoni remarked ".

Meanwhile, the state taskforce had issued a fine ranging from fifty thousand naira (N50, 000) and above to each of the various landlords in the area to pay over violating the law. They where further urged to immediately provide soakaway and sceptic tanks in their buildings, so as to be at the safe side of the Delta State Environment Law.

Anxiety as PDP fears loosing Jonathan to APC, visit Ex-President, Beg him to stay

Anxiety as PDP fears loosing Jonathan to APC, visit Ex-President, Beg him to stay

The People's Democratic Party, PDP leaders has urged the former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to participate more in the affairs of the party.

The PDP Chieftains on Tuesday, August 31, also appealed to Jonathan not to abandon the party at such a trying time.

On his part, the former President assured the leadership that he is solidly behind the party and has no intention of abandoning it.

The perceived silence of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan over the ordeals of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, has become a recipe for worry among party leaders. This was majorly why a delegation led by the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Yemi Akinwonmi, paid him a visit in Abuja on Tuesday.

Wisdom lkuli Appeals to ljaw youths not to neglect ljaw girls for marriage, gives reason

a Critical Stakeholder in the Ijaw Project, I condemn the increasing cases where our Ijaw youths often abandon their Ijaw girlfriends to marry outsiders.

It is inhuman to abandon the young girls that suffered with you when things were rough and difficult only to go and marry outsiders when the economy improved.

In most cases, the outsiders are not even more beautiful than our angelic Ijaw girls/ladies. Again, beauty goes beyond outward physical appearance.

I am yet to see girls that are more accommodating, patient, loving and caring like our outstanding Ijaw girls.

Our young men should stop finding faults and excuses to justify their actions of dumping Ijaw girls whenever it is time to enjoy the fruits of their labours.

It is important to know that those ladies our young men abandon Ijaw ladies that laboured with them and run after whenever they make success could have acted worst if they found themselves in the pitiable condition our Ijaw girls were with you.

It is good for our girls to also enjoy the good things of life and not always suffering only to be abandoned whenever it is time for enjoyment.

JAMB Cancels General Cut-off Marks for Schools to Decide across the country

JAMB Cancels General Cut-off Marks for Schools to Decide across the country

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cancelled the national admission benchmark also known as cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions.

This allows each of the nation’s tertiary institutions to peg its admission benchmark.

The decision was taken at the 2021 policy meeting which was held virtually and chaired by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

The board’s registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, stated: “Some universities such as University of Maiduguri proposed 150, Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto proposed 140, Pan Atlantic University proposed 210, University of Lagos 200, Lagos State University 190, Covenant University 190, Bayero University Kano, 180.

“Institutions have now been given the liberty to decide cut off marks, there will be no cut off from JAMB.”

On the deadline for the closure of admissions, the stakeholders resolved to allow the ministry to decide as they could not agree on the December 31, 2021 deadline for all public institutions and January 31, 2022, for all private institutions.

Stakeholders also adopted the 2021 admission guidelines, which provide that all applications for part-time or full-time programmes for degrees, (NCE) National Certificate In Education, OND (Ordinary National Diploma), and others must be posted only through JAMB.

The meeting approved that for Direct Entry, the maximum score a candidate can present is 6 and the minimum is 2 or E, as required by law.

Late. Muammar Gaddafi of Libya and his Concept of a United States of Africa

Late. Muammar Gaddafi of Libya and his Concept of a United States of Africa

Did you know that the concept of a 'United States of Africa' takes its origin from Marcus Garvey's 1924 poem "Hail, United States of Africa", and that the proposed federation would have been the largest total territory of any state, and the third most populous state after China and India?

The United States of Africa is a hypothetical concept of a federation of some or all of the 54 sovereign states and two disputed states on the continent of Africa. The idea of a multinational unifying African state has been compared to various medieval African empires, including the Ethiopian Empire, the Ghana Empire, the Mali Empire, the Songhai Empire, the Benin Empire, the Kanem Empire, and other historic nation states.

During the late 19th and early 20th century the majority of African land was controlled by various European empires, with the British controlling around 30 percent of the African population at its peak.

The term "United States of Africa" was mentioned first by Marcus Garvey in his poem Hail, United States of Africa in 1924. Garvey's ideas and formation systems deeply influenced former Africa leaders and the rebirth of the African Union (AU). All African states are members of the AU.

In February 2009, upon being elected chairman of the 53-nation African Union in Ethiopia, Gaddafi told the assembled African leaders: "I shall continue to insist that our sovereign countries work to achieve the United States of Africa."

The BBC reported that Gaddafi had proposed "a single African military force, a single currency and a single passport for Africans to move freely around the continent". Other African leaders stated they would study the proposal's implications, and re-discuss it in May 2009.

The focus for developing the United States of Africa so far has been on building subdivisions of Africa - the proposed East African Federation can be seen as an example of this. Former President of Senegal, Abdoulaye Wade, had indicated that the United States of Africa could exist as early as 2017. The African Union, by contrast, has set itself the task of building a "united and integrated" Africa by 2025. Gaddafi had also indicated that the proposed federation may extend as far west as the Caribbean: Haiti, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas and other islands featuring a large African diaspora, may be invited to join.

Gaddafi also received criticism for his involvement in the movement, and lack of support for the idea from among other African leaders. A week before Gaddafi's death during the Libyan Civil War, South African President Jacob Zuma expressed relief at the regime's downfall, complaining that Gaddafi had been "intimidating" many African heads of state and government in an effort to gain influence throughout the continent and suggesting that the African Union will function better without Gaddafi and his repeated proposals for a unitary African government.

Gaddafi was ultimately killed during the Battle of Sirte in October 2011. While some regard the project to have died with him, Robert Mugabe expressed interest in reviving the project. Following the 2017 Zimbabwean coup d'état, Mugabe resigned as President. On 6 September 2019, Mugabe died.

However, the nations of Eritrea, Ghana, Senegal, and Zimbabwe, have supported an African federation. Others such as South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria have been more skeptical, feeling that the continent is not ready for integration. North African countries such as Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, and post-revolution Libya who have traditionally identified more with rival ideologies like Arab nationalism, Berberism and Islamism have shown less interest in the idea.

Doubts have been raised about whether the goal of a unified Africa can ever be achieved while ongoing problems of conflict and poverty persist throughout the continent.

The proposed federation of the United States of Africa would have been the largest total territory of any state, exceeding the Russian Federation. It would also be the third most populous state after China and India, and with a population speaking an estimated 2,000 languages.
