Bayelsa: Timipre Sylva Calls Party Faithfuls To Maintain Law And Order, Apologises To President Buhari
...... Says Stolen Mandate Will Be Restored
Press Statement By His Excellency, Chief Timipre Sylva Calling For Calm And Hope In Bayelsa State
I want to use this moment to call on all the people of our dear state, Bayelsa, to kindly shun all acts of violence and lawlessness.
Also of great importance to me is to extend my profound apology to our President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, over the avoidable disruption to his busy schedule which was caused by the events of the moment.
I am aware that Mr. President and his lovely wife Her Excellency Aisha Buhari had concluded arrangements to travel to Bayelsa to witness the inauguration of the APC Governorship candidate as Governor of Bayelsa State. I therefore extend my apology to Mr. President and members of his entourage.
To the good people of Bayelsa state, I would like to emphasize the need for restraint at all times. No doubt the events of the last few days are as provocative as they are regrettable. But however tempting it might be for anyone to take the law into their hands, such temptation must be resisted in the greater interest of our state and the political stability of the country at large.
The leadership of our great party the All Progresives Congress (APC) has directed its team of legal experts to study the situation critically and proffer legal options available to the party accordingly. We should therefore all remain faithful to, and have confidence in, the wisdom and ability of the party leadership to provide direction at this very sensitive time.
Once again I call on all people of Bayelsa state irrespective of whatever differences there may be to eschew violence and respect the security measures put in place by appropriate authorities. Let me conclude by assuring Mr. President and our party hierarchy that despite this temporary setback, APC in Bayelsa remains strong and its members resolute in our support for the ideals of a greater and prosperous Nigeria as envisioned by our President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari.
The mandate will be restored and that dream of a better, greater Bayelsa State will be actualized
Thank you and God bless Bayelsa State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Signed:
His Excellency Chief Timipre Sylva

Bayelsa: APC Chieftain, Chief. Perekeme Kpodoh Accuses Sylva, Oshiomhole Of Been Responsible for David Lyon, APC’s Woes At Supreme Court
Francis Tayor
Yenagoa____ A former Chief Security Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government, Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, has blamed the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva for Thursday’s Supreme Court Judgement which nullified the party’s victory.
The Supreme Court had on Thursday nullified the election victory of Chief David Lyon as governor-elect of Bayelsa State and his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo over certificate forgery leveled against the APC running mate.
Kpodoh, reacting to the apex court verdict, said the duo of Oshiomhole and Sylva to take the blame for the latest development in the state.
According to him, the two party chieftains’ manner of selection of APC flag bearers was the reason the party lost at the Supreme Court.
Chief Kpodoh told newsmen in Yenagoa that the divide and rule and wrongful actions of Sylva and Oshiomhole is costing the state chapter of the Party victory handed to the APC by the majority of Bayelsa voters.
“Because he has deceived everybody within the party, both in the state and national level, the verdict from the Supreme Court has brought the party and President Muhammadu Buhari to disrepute.
“In the last few years, Chief Timipre Sylva has created enmity among the party structure. All the people that started these party race, all of them have been sidelined. He brought new people, he brought a man with fake certificate and you call yourself a leader of the party.
“He has even put the president into serious disgrace including the party. Even without this thing even happening, the type of people he was selecting to become appointees in the government, were all stooges. See what happened between him and Lokpobiri? Why must he raise Lokpobiri so high and serious that he doesn’t want to see Lokpobiri.
“If it was Lokpobiri, this matter wouldn’t have come into this matter. We said it during that period, but nobody listened to those who fought for the stability of the party. I am the man who fought for the APC in the state. I fought for this party, starting from new PDP to APC and at the latter part of the day, he abandoned us”, the former security adviser noted. Kpodoh, however, called on protesting APC members in the state to remain calm.
