Special Feature: Inside Story Of How Dr. Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku Rescued The Soul Of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC)
Wisdom Ikuli
The history of the most revered Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) shall be incomplete, doctored and grossly mutilated without the mention of Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku.
Now, it is important to note that before the formation of IYC, there were so many pro-Ijaw right groups that were fighting against the ills that were perpetrated against our great people. But the need to have a harmonized position on key issues gave birth to IYC.
Some of the groups which also participated in the famous and historic 11th December, 1998 KAIAMA DECLARATION include; Ijaw Council for Human Rights (ICHR), the Movement for the Survival of Ijaw Ethnic Nationality in the Niger Delta (MOSEIND), Elimotu Movement, Meinbutu, the Ijaw Justice Association, Arogbo Freedom Fighters, Ogbe-Ijoh Justice Front, Ijaw National Congress in the United States of America (INCUSA), Bayelsa Youth Federation (BAYOF), Adaka Marine, Ijaw Peace Movement, Okpolom Imo Engenni, the Nembe 1895 Movement, National Union of Izon-Ibe Students (NUIS), National Union of Bayelsa State Students (NUBSS), etc.
So one will not be wrong if you describe IYC as an embodiment and conglomeration of many groups that were all devoted and committed to the emancipation cum liberation of our great people from economic and political servitude.
Before narrowing to the crux, it is pertinent to highlight the various Epochs, Stages and Phases of the Niger Delta Renaissance and Struggle beginning with the Legitimate cum Slave Trade Era where our great Kings like King Jaja of Opobo, King William Fredrick Koko of Nembe, King Amakiri (Amachree) of Kalabari, King Ibanichuka of Okrika, King Akalisuo of Okarki-Engenni, King Nana of Itsekiri, Oba Ovoramwen N'gbaisi of Benin and other Kings fought against the European explorers, adventurers and imperialists.
The Second Epoch which was the Intellectual Phase of the struggle was led by High Chief Harold Dappa-Biriye, Chief (Sen.) Dr. Melford Obiene Okilo, HRM Frank Opigo, Prof. JP Clark through his intellectual works.
The Third Epoch which was Armed Struggle against the Nigerian State was led by Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, Captain George Amangala, Captain Boardman Nyananyo, Captain Samuel Owonaru, Lieutenant Nottingham Dick and others in the Twelve Day Revolution that led to the declaration of the first Country (Niger Delta Republic) in Nigeria after the post-1914 Amalgamation of Northern and Southern Protectorates.
The Fourth Epoch which is the Ogoni Struggle was led by Kenule Beesom Saro-Wiwa.
The Fifth Epoch which I describe as the Reawakening Renaissance Era after the formation of the MOVEMENT FOR THE SURVIVAL OF THE IJAW ETHNIC NATIONALITY IN THE NIGER DELTA (MOSEIND) was led by Chief (Elder) Timi Kay Ogoriba. MOSEIND activities and its ability to mobilize and also reunite all Ijaw people after the Boro Revolution of 1966, led to the formation of the most revered IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL (IYC). But before IYC, our great leaders and fathers like Chief Dr. Harold Dappa-Biriye who was getting old by then alongside Chief F.H.E Brisibe, Chief George A. Weikezi started the movement for the formation of the exalted IJAW NATIONAL CONGRESS (INC). The historic meetings of 25th, 29th and 30th October, 1991 that gave birth to INC were held at the residence of Chief George A. Weikezi at No. 29 Calcutta Crescent, Apapa-Lagos.
The Sixth Epoch which is fused with the 7th Phase is the Contemporary Struggle where Chief Timi Kay Ogoriba, Barr. Oronto Natei Oronto, Dr. Felix Tuodolo, Dr. Kingsley Kuku, Dr. Isaac Asume Osuoka aka Thomas Sankara, Dr. Patterson Ogon, Sergeant Weinipre Digifa, Kuromiema Miabiye, Famous Daunemigha, Ebi Waribigha, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, Ann Kio-Briggs, Mummy Primrose Kpokposei, Elfreda Olungwe, Rosebella Jackson, Dr. Oboko Bello, Elder Tunde Anaye-Kio aka CIA, Dimieari Von Kemedi, King Ateke Michael Tom, Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo GOC, Henry Okah, Patrick Ziedekie Akpobolekemi, Hendrick Opukeme, Peterside Sofiri, Doifie Buokaribo, Nnimmo Bassey and other leaders led and also played the most prominent and very commendable roles.
The above list shall be incomplete without paying tribute to Chief (Dr.) M.T. Akobo a refined Ijaw man from Kalabari Kingdom. He was a former Federal Minister of Petroleum. He was the owner of No. 13 Agudama Street in D/Line, Diobu Port Harcourt. ERA office was situate there and later, Alhaji (Alabo) Mujahid Asari Dokubo also occupied part of the building. This great leader beside giving out his building free to serve as a meeting place for Ijaw youths also served as father to all Ijaw youths without discrimination. He was even arrested because of IYC.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF IYC
Thousands of Ijaw youths and non-Ijaws have gained employments through IYC. Same way many have gotten University scholarships both home and abroad through IYC. One cannot count university admissions that are secured through IYC but above all, IYC has helped to foster peace and unity among Ijaw youths.
DR. KINGSLEY KEMEBRADIGHA KUKU AND IYC
Beside contributing and also making immeasurable and invaluable sacrifices before and during the formative stage of IYC, Elder Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku has remained a strong pillar behind the success story of IYC.
IYC would have been history but for the strategic role that Kuku played during the 2010 National Convention at Ogulagha in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Before then, some individuals wanted to hijack the Council to front and also promote their inordinate ambitions.
In the history of IYC, there have never been any election where Delegates were paid up to Three Hundred Thousand (#300,000) Naira by an Aspirant except in that election.
Some notable Aspirants in that election drove on long convoys and spent Millions of Naira on campaign. It would have been an election where the highest Bidders would have had the day. I remember, I contested for the revered Office of the National Spokesman with four other noble Ijaw youths and came second.
Dr. Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku as the Chairman of the Electoral Committee never allowed the money bags to influence him. He stood his ground and insisted on doing the right thing. He never allowed anybody to influence him. Almost all Ijaw leaders in the struggle were there. Even Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo GOC was in Ogulagha his maternal community, even though he never went close to the venue. Ironically, his Candidate for Secretary General failed.
Chief (Hon.) Farah Dagogo was also at the venue of the election but his presence did not save his presidential Candidate: Eferebo.
Alhaji Asari Dokubo's presence never influenced the victory of his wife Mrs. Caroline Asari Dokubo aka Mama Aluta who won with less than five votes due to her popularity and sacrifices in the struggle.
General Sobomabo Jackreece aka General Egberipapa also failed the IYC Presidency during that election.
We had a replay of almost the above scene at Okrika during the 2017 National Convention that was hosted by King Ateke Michael Tom who spent millions to host thousands of Ijaw youths for days but ironically, none of his Candidates won. The Elder Ebi Waribigha aka Skido never allowed external influence. They conducted a free, fair and credible election.
The forthcoming 2020 National Convention of IYC should be a great thing of concern to all sons and daughters of the Ijaw nation especially the way and manner some elders and leaders of IYC are going about the process.
IYC can never be sold to the highest bidder. IYC is presently serving as the most vocal mouthpiece of our great people, thus we can never make the mistake of handing over IYC to few persons who want to use the Council to further their personal inordinate ambitions. We cannot hand over IYC to any President who will do the biddings of external forces who want to use IYC to promote their personal agenda.
We want an IYC President that is well grounded on the issues of the Niger Delta Question. We want an IYC President that is very experienced. We want a President that is eloquent, articulate, vibrant, courageous, audacious, sagacious and very vast. We want a President that can stand and address the United Nations General Assembly, the US Congress and any other congregation. We want an IYC President that will be a Resource Person wherever he goes as a Worthy Ambassador of the Ijaw nation.
We do not want a President that belong or identify with any political party. We do not want a President that is sponsored by an individual and will later serve as a stooge and puppet to those individuals. We want a President that will be President and Servant of all Ijaw people. We want a President that will truly serve as the CROWN PRINCE OF THE IJAW NATION and not a stooge and puppet to any individual.
Haa Izon!

Panic ln Govt. House As Delta SSG, Information Commissioner Test Positive To COVID-19
Panic ln Govt. House As Delta SSG, Information Commissioner Test Positive To COVID-19
As Delta State Government intensifies efforts at combating the spread of COVID-19 in the state, it said on Sunday that two top officials of government had tested positive to the virus.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, who made this known in a statement in Asaba, named the officials as Secretary to the State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie and Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu.
Ifeajika said both officials showed mild symptoms of the virus and consequently subjected themselves to the test.
He said that both men had been moved to an isolation centre and were stable, and responding well to treatment.
Ifeajika called on residents of the state to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 protocols as anyone, irrespective of status, could contract the virus.
"Let me advise all Deltans to, as a matter of top priority, always obey the COVID-19 protocols, which have been in public domain, so as to curb further spread of the pandemic.
"The fresh cases in our hands in Delta further testifies to the fact that COVID-19 is not a scam. It is real and people should take the issues of the virus and personal hygiene seriously.
"COVID-19 is not a death sentence; so, when you begin to feel unwell, reach out to approved government hospitals for appropriate tests to be carried out.
"We can save ourselves and others from this virus if we obey all the protocols of wearing face masks, regular washing of hands in running water, use of alcohol-based sanitisers and maintaining physical-distancing while congregating in any form.
"All our hospitals and isolation centres across the state are on 24 hours alert to receive any case(s) of the Coronavirus or other health challenges," he stated.

Press Statement
Adieu Our Tireless Leader, Dispassionate Elder, Chief Francis Doukpola- Amb. Igali, PhD, OON
It all sounded like a hear tale but reality soon dawned that you and your earthly journey had come to an end. Quite unimagined, typifying the Biblical "Day of the Lord" coming like a thief in the night. Yes, no man knows that dreary hour, but it shall surely come. My family and l mourn your quick passing.
Yet we give God praise, worship and adoration for your worthy life of great superlatives and impact. Truly, your 76 years were full of fulfilments and varied activities.
Your top administrative antecedents and acumen, lofty banking and financial footprints and untiring political activism remain easy reminders of your worth and versatile gifts. No less was your imprimatur in the fight for the nasence of Bayelsa, it's growing up so fast and continued development.
In all spheres, from effective traditional governance in your beloved home town, Agbere to the more sterling, Bayelsa Elders Forum, you left indelible marks. What about the countless committees we served in to further the things that matter most to our dear dear Ijaw nation - peace, development, fight for our environment, struggle for equity, fairness and justice within Nigeria.
Night and day, we coalesced ideas, under PA Edwin Clark to form the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF). You soon became National Deputy President. From there, we worked together, meeting upon meeting, from Yenagoa to Uyo, Warri to PortHarcourt, Benin to Asaba, Abuja to Ibadan, Akwa to Markurdi, Lagos to be Enugu be and so on to form the Leaders and Elders of Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt Forum. I got the no small task, with Prof GG Darah to Co-Chair the South South Rally on Restructuring and develop a position on the topic, you were, as usual, the Chairman of the LOC and reduced our sleepless nights. It turned out great and far reaching.
The chroniclers would definitely be fair to you and adulate more graphically and in finer prints your sterling qualities and personae. Non obtrusive, bridge-building, tireless, forward looking and contentment with the undulating stations of life.
Can we question God? No! But our hearts go to Mrs. Doukpola and the children, all of Bayelsa and Ijaw nation and indeed friends, nationally and worldwide. As we keep praying for you lets all remember the time honoured words of Apostle Paul in First Chorithians 15:55 "Oh death where is your sting". Of course and truly, no stings and pain because his life had been momentous.
Generations after now will remember Chief Doukpola in dirges of highest pitch and brightest memories of human accomplishment. Olotu keme, Doo, bai oooo!
May his soul rest in peace.

Kalanama Smiles In Akugbene-Mein Kingdom- Ekanpou Enewaredideke
Kalanama Smiles In Akugbene-Mein Kingdom- Ekanpou Enewaredideke
Radiant, unbeatably radiant, smiles sit on the face of Kalanama the son of Kor who is the son of Mein the eponymous father of Mein Clan.Besides the radiance of smiles on the face of Kalanama,it is known everywhere that smile is the carrier of an irrepressible magnetism that takes a master position in every space because it is a massive, positively charged element. Its magnetism parallels the occasional dance of waves in the river in their span of entertainment whenever a speed boat takes over the stage with its talented orchestra.
Kalanama I is the founding father of Akugbene-Mein kingdom. Whenever the founding father of the clan smiles, the kingdom becomes the recipient of the smiles because the visible fragrance occupies every space. The smile of Kalanama I can only be the smile of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom in Bomadi Council of Delta State - a kingdom that is held together beyond the Achebic 'things-fall-apart' by Kalanama's directional principle of pragmatic biologism ingeniously built around the prevention of meiosis in an ancient kingdom.
Always - for a traveler who negotiates a consuming bend either at sea or on the road - smiles become the undeniable inheritance, the natural accompaniment, though not without the aching moments manufactured by merchants of violence, confusion, chaos and misrepresentation. It seems Akugbene-Mein Kingdom has just witnessed the bumper harvest of smiles in her kingdom today through the smiles of Kalanama I.
My apologies, my readers! That Akugbene-Mein Kingdom has witnessed bumper harvest of smiles did not start today. The smiles walked to the kingdom yesterday - a yesterday that enjoys historical measurement or calibration captured unchangeably as the years 1969/1970 when that Commission of Inquiry gave a categorical pronouncement on the wind of confusion and destabilization that once walked frighteningly on the surface of the earth carrying a protruding stomach stocked with dynamites programmed to be released upon marked faces of different ideological persuasion bordering on the affairs of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom.
However, to strike a chord historically, the exact dating of Kalanama's smiles should be in the 14 Century, not in the 16th century, because the 16th century dating is historically wrong and questionable as regards the history of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom though the contextual smiles could enjoy virtual documentation as 1969 and 1970 as the initiatory journey of the smiles - smiles tempted to scamper like the monkeys of Odugburugbu Canal in Opuapale town whenever the biologism principle of Kalanama I is threatened on earth. Did Kalanama I actually smile?
That famous Kalanama I must be a great historian yet to be dissected and captured appropriately in historiography. That he was not sufficiently talked about by historians could be a historiographical felony - a questionable historiographical recklessness, a targeted historical antagonism. Beyond being a possible historian, Kalanama I must equally be a biologist vast in the deployment of biologism in the governance of the entire Mein Kingdom in Western Ijaw Division when he left Ogobiri in Bayelsa State and settled in Akugbene in the 14th Century followed by five of his brothers - Ngbile, Ogbolu, Akan, Eze and Ogide. He must have studied Biology long to know the dangers of meiosis (cell division) applied to the human environment as it could cause dislodgement of ancient roots of brotherly bondage and linkage.
Meiosis, as a biological
process, is purely for cells within the living organism, not for the human society. Kalanama's knowledge of Literature also appears legendary; he must have read Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart or its equivalent in the 14th Century long enough to know the dangers of disintegration in any society. His vast knowledge of Literature and his pragmatic biologism principle of governance made him rule the Mein Kingdom from Akugbene without any destabilising cell division and disintegration while his famed sole Pereship lasted. Are Donubebe, Onurun, Obirigbo(Obirikpo), Amounpere and Akpanaka aware that their father kalanama I ruled the Mein kingdom peacefully, animated by his vast knowledge of Literature and pragmatic deployment of biologism, resulting in a kingdom happily inhabited by great men and women who are both autotrophic and heterotropic in nutritional orientations?
Kalanama's legendary literary knowledge built from vast readership of novels and his pragmatic biologism penetrated the Akugbene-Mein Kingdom through the processes of osmosis and diffusion even after his death. It was for this reason Akugbene-Mein Kingdom had no molten lava or magma of disintegration from the kingdom until the departure of F.B.O. Kalanama VI in 1965. That Akugbene-Mein kingdom was no longer immune to volcanic eruption weighted with disintegrating conflagration reared its bald-headed ugly head after the death of Kalanama VI. This was the first time that Kalanama's legendary vastness in Literature and his pragmatic application of biologism in the administration of his kingdom had been muddied by his descendants who had no knowledge of the water-side of Kalanama because they did not accompany him in all his fishing and hunting expeditions.
Precisely, Pere F.B.O. Kalanama VI died in September 1965 though the formal traditional pronouncement of his death was in December 1965. Immediately after his death two schools of thought became radiant and dominant in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom. All the two schools of thought were dominated by the descendants of Kalanama I. The two schools of thought held different ideas on ascension to the Pereship of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom. One school of thought led by Okporiopo (Oporopo)Agidee and others representing the Donubebe Family held the position that ascension to the kingship of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom is by right of primogeniture based on Ekieretubor birth. It was also the stand of this school of thought that Donubebe was the only ruling house in the kingdom based on the 18 January 1958 declaration on Chieftaincy matters made in Akugbene-Mein Local Council at a meeting attended by Pere Kalanama VI,Chief J.O.Bozimo,Chief M.F.Agidee,Chief Alli Opudu(for Ogodobiri town),Chief T.E.Carter(for Akugbene town),Chief J.D.Ujobolo(Esanma town),Messers Ashaka Biogors(for Ezebiri town),Solo Okumaphayi(for Ezebiri town),P.S.Atonlogbo(for Ogodobiri town),N.E.Odubolu(for Ogodobiri town),Yangar Ekpodor(for Ogodobiri town),R.S.Akekah(for Akugbene town),F.T.Narebor(Ensanma town)S.O.Embelegha(for Kpakiama town),Yelele Gbenewei(for Kpakiama town),J.L.Egoro(for Kpakiama town),B.Olodiama(for Kpakiama town) and Rose Nugba(for Okoloba town). By these positions the deduction was that, among the five children of Kalanama - Donubebe, Onurun, Obirigbo(Obirikpo), Amounpere and Akpanaka - only the Donubebe Family had the traditional right to produce the next king of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom anytime the Pereship became vacant by death, and that the other four families should be content with their debarment from the Pereship of Akugbene-Mein kingdom. Could this be the second biblical Babel in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State?Specifically, was Asolo the son of Onurun who founded Ogriagbene aware of this exclusion? What about Okoro,Ekpedenyan,Enainemughan and Anduwo the great siblings of Asolo who is a respected grandson of Kalanama?Should Asolo the great founder of Ogriagbene be deprived of the right to kingship when he is a grandson of Kalanama?
The second school of thought in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom led by Chief T.E Carter and others on behalf of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom held the position that the right to the Pereship of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom was by Braeretubor birth exampled by sound health and non-conviction in any court of law and that there were five ruling houses in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom designated as Donubebe, Onurun, Obirigbo(Obirikpo), Amounpere and Akpanaka. This school of thought also challenged the January 1958 declaration and dismissed the quoted section as a deliberate infusion unknown to the minutes of the meeting held at Akugbene on that day when Pere F.B.O.Kalanama VI,Chief Jonah Oyadongha Bozimo, R.A.Bayoko and F.T.Narebor were still there as the President,Chairman,Secretary and Councilor of Akugbene-Mein Local Council - at a time when Akugbene was still the Headquarters of the Akugbene-Mein Local Council prior to its relocation to Bomadi as the Headquarters.
Confronted with the spectacle of a great kingdom about to be torn apart by two vociferous schools of thought unwillingly to shift their activist positions for brotherly accommodation, a Commission of Inquiry was set up in 1969 chaired by Mr. Amadi-Emina as the Sole Commissioner unlike the Ngbilebiri-Mein kingdom's Commission of Inquiry of 1965 which was led by R.C Nwabolu. Memoranda were accepted from the two schools of thought which had people testified from Ogriagbene, Ogbeinama, Ogodobiri, Ekameta and Akugbene. The outcome of the Commission of Inquiry was awaited with baited breath after the memoranda-submission and the testification by people was over.
It was precisely in May 1970 that the Amadi-Emina led Commission of Inquiry categorically recommended that Akugbene-Mein Kingdom had five ruling houses designated as Donubebe, Onurun, Obirigbo(Obirikpo), Amounpere and Akpanaka, and that the right to Pereship was rotationally (among the five ruling houses) only by Braeretubor birth. These recommendations put a final end to the brotherly conflagration that once threatened the ancient unity of the ancient Akugbene-Mein kingdom.
Since Akugbene-Mein kingdom virtually strayed from their ancient historical path of unity nourished by Kalanama's bequeathed vast literary knowledge and famed pragmatic biologism when the two schools of thought emerged with opposing views on Pereship, the kingdom has resumed her ancient peaceful co-existence and unity. From Kalanama VII to the present S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII, the kingdom has not made any attempt to stray from the ideals of Kalanama - directional ideals that have no loopholes even in this digital world where ancient ideas and ideals hardly survive retirement, expurgation, expulsion, dismissal and condemnation to the dustbin of forgetfulness.
The deployment of pragmatic biologism in the rulership of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom has become an integral component of the governance style of every traditional ruler in the kingdom because it is the most dependable mechanism of peaceful co-existence and unity as it is geared towards building institutions and structures bound to prevent cell division (meiosis). It is a proactive governance mechanism derived from a knowledge of biological processes witnessed in the wake of cell division in living organisms.
I know that cell division may have a metabolising anchor in scientific studies but when applied to human institutions and structures in administration, it destabilises, destroys, dismantles and disorganises hierarchically arranged components or system of administration because a divided cell leaves a dangerous chasm, schism, abyss, crater, etc. in human relationship.
Armed with the famed Kalanamaic pragmatic biologism coupled with a passion to walk on the approved historical path, it was Applied Biology the present king of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, Pere S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII, studied at the university. Indeed the Kalanamaic pragmatic biologism flows in the blood of every king in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom as they have all been historically initiated into the famed Kalanamaic mechanism of peace-building and unity in a kingdom.
I think it would be historically meaningful for me to add quickly that for communities like Ezebiri,Ogriagbene,Adekagbene/Kalafiogbene,Okoloba,Esanma,Ogbeinama,Bomadi,Kpakiama,Ekameta,Ogodobiri,Akugbene and others, they are so attuned to the hypnotising workability of the pragmatic biologism principle of Kalanama 1 and now extended to Kalanama VIII that they are daily imprisoned by thoughts of indivisibility in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom as that hated virus of kingdom-divisibility walks 800 nautical miles away from them, and so they sleep so well at night - even soothingly deeper and better than that Shakespearean Lucius in JULIUS CAESAR who had no thorny thoughts of disorientation and destabilization at night - unlike that troubled Brutus of dangerous stratagems.
Having geograhically claimed some reasonable nautical miles in my voyage today, some of my readers may be bothered to ask to know how many novels Kalanama 1 read or wrote, how many journal articles he wrote to justify his vastness in Literature. Please note that Kalanama's vastness in Literature is not measured by how many books and journal articles he had written or read, but by the applicability of his lessons gathered from his reading to his kingdom's administration, particularly his knowledge on preventive disintegration in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom he must have derived from Chinua Achebe's THINGS FALL APART - possibly from the 'collective unconscious' because there was no Achebe's THINGS FALL APART then, but there were only Achebes and their equivalents in the 'collective unconscious' of Carl Jung's creation.
It is therefore my beloved meditative dance that may Akugbene-Mein Kingdom never stray from the ancient pragmatic biologism of Kalanama I as an administrative mechanism that systematically builds and embodies structures positioned as the antidote against cell division in any kingdom, as cell division kills the smiles of a kingdom. If the pragmatic biologism of Kalanama I is the medication for the Covid -19 of cell division in a kingdom, S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII may become the administrative epidemiologist since he intentionally studied Applied Biology at the University to improve and update his knowledge on the Kalanamaic biologism and historically become the king who aligns ideologically with Kalanama I and be armed historically to consolidate and continue the biologism principle in governance bequeathed by the Kalanamas.
Taking a look at my historical voyage again and again it is no longer subject to infantile argument that the pragmatic biologism of Kalanama I which has been institutionalised as a historical continuum in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom as the antidote against disintegration, should be treasured and continued by Pere S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII since it has historically become the carrier of the smiles and unity of the kingdom - the carrier that could be deployed to negotiate any man-made bend in the kingdom.
Personally, I believe that for somebody biologically initiated into the importance of ecology, ecosystem and biodiversity, Pere S.P. Luke Kalanama VIII would be a dependable institution for the preservation, perpetuation and continuation of the pragmatic biologism of Pere Kalanama I long bequeathed by Kalanama I for the historical documentation of Kalanama's smiles because the smiles of Kalanama are progressive smiles meant for every neighbourhood in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom and beyond.

Neglect Of Rural Roads: A Youth Leader ln Gbaramatu Kingdom, Isaac Brubor Appeals To Gov. Okowa To Resurrect Projects
Neglect Of Rural Roads: A Youth Leader ln Gbaramatu Kingdom, Isaac Brubor Appeals To Gov. Okowa To Resurrect Projects
When in 2007, the Delta State Government awarded some 252 inter/intra city and rural roads and 58 drainage contract projects at a total cost of over N114 billion and N1.7 billion respectively, with some of the road projects situated in the riverine communities of the state, indigenes occupying those territories had thought that the neglect of coastal communities by the government, in terms of infrastructures, has come to an end.
Some of the awarded road projects sited in the Gbaramatu Kingdom axis in Warri South West Local Government Area of the state, were the Ubafan / Inikorogha / Azama / New Jerusalem Zion / Oporoza / Opedebuobor / Okpele-Ama / Ikpokpo / Madangho Road and the Okerenkoko / Pepe-Ama / Kokodiagbene Road.
In a Ministerial Press Briefing which held on Tuesday 21 February 2012, the then Delta State Commissioner in the Ministry of Works, Chief Funkekeme Solomon, while interacting with the media to inform and educate them on the state of activities, responsibilities and functions of the Ministry of Works, hinted on the above rural road project that, “Work on these projects which run through difficult swampy mangrove terrain, and in which substantial earth fill was achieved before the projects suffered setbacks caused by the crises of Okerenkoko in 2010, will resume soon after re-appraisal of the project.”
But after close to a decade, the rural access road project have failed to see the light of day, prompting some of the indigenes in the Kingdom to voice their concerns and fears over the continuation of the project and with appeals made to His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who is dubbed as the 'road master', to ensure that the road project come to fruition before the end of his second term in office.
Mr. Isaac Brubor, the Public Relations Officer (P.R.O.) of Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, a major community which is a beneficiary of the road project—the Okerenkoko / Pepe-Ama / Kokodiagbene Road—while speaking on the development, said the rural access roads linking the various communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, if completed, would to a large extent reduce transport challenges and hardship on indigenes including students of the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), whose permanent site is at Okerenkoko.
“The Okerenkoko / Pepe-Ama / Kokodiagbene Road project was awarded to one Workson Construction Company Nigeria Limited in March 2nd 2007 by the Ibori government," Mr. Brubor affirmed. "Although, the crises in the area led to the stoppage of works, since then till now, no word has been heard about the project.
“While the excuse for not continuing the project was the state of insecurity then, however, currently, for over the years that peace had returned to this area, no mobilisation to site by the contractor handling the project has been witnessed," he observed.
On the plight of indigenes over inaccessible roads, he said, "From where we are, Kokodiagbene community, our other sister-communities like Pepe-Ama and Okerenkoko are just around the corner. But because of no accessible roads, we usually embark on an Israelite journey by water which is costly and time consuming. Also, it hinders free movement as well as hinders trade among our people.
"The need for accessible roads cannot be overemphasized. With the rate of poverty in the creeks arising from the after effects of pollution that has rendered our sources of livelihood meaningless, the availability of road networks linking our communities would go a long way to help ease the suffering of our people. It would save us cost and time," he added.
He therefore appealed to the governor of the state to use his powers to do everything possible to ensure the project is kick started by mobilising contractors back to the site of the project.
“I want to appeal to the state governor, His Excellency, the road master himself, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to not let this project go uncompleted. We are aware that his administration is one of the first governments the riverine people have benefitted from and we are grateful. But we need more development after the so many decades of neglect of the riverine communities by other past governments.”
Despite some coastal communities in southern Nigeria playing host to oil and gas exploration activities in the Niger Delta region, they remain one of the most underdeveloped areas in the West Africa sub-region. This neglect is largely evidenced in poor educational infrastructures and health facilities to the lack of other basic amenities like drinkable water, power supply, and of course, inaccessible roads and bridges, that have made life in coastal communities, difficult.
This neglect had led to tensions in the region, which later paved way to conflicts between armed militant groups and government forces. But since the granting of amnesty to militants by the Federal Government (FG), not much have been achieved in terms of infrastructural development as the agency of the FG responsible for the region’s development, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has been fraught with issues of corruption.
For the coastal people of Gbaramatu Kingdom and environs, the NDDC is too far away and so they have continued to cry out to the state government over their marginalisation, infrastructure-wise. It is only hoped that Governor Okowa's administration would make a huge difference by resurrecting the rural road projects as a way to reduce the plights faced by coastal dwellers in the riverine areas of the state.
IPDI MOURNS LATE OWONARU, SYMPATHIZES WITH HIS FAMILY

IPDI MOURNS LATE OWONARU, SYMPATHIZES WITH HIS FAMILY
We received the news of the demise of our late hero Captain Samuel OWONARU with a rude shock. His demise is a big blow to Ijaw nation. He was a shining star. The last pillar standing has fallen. He among others were the progenitors of Niger Delta struggle. Niger Delta struggle wouldn't have been in view if not men like Owonaru, Adaka Boro etc. We have loss a rare germ. His demise is a monumental lost. It is sad and painful. Most painful is that he died especially at a time where his wealth of experience is needed most.
Owonaru good deeds and immense contributions in the Niger Delta struggle will be forever remembered. He was a proud son of Ijaw nation and Niger Delta at larger. Indeed his death has thrown the Ijaw nation into mourning. He was the only remaining soldier who fought for Niger Delta republic. He was together arrested with Adaka Boro, after the successful Kaiama Niger Delta republic declarations and promoted by the military to the position of military captain at the civil war.
He served Ijaw nation and Niger Delta meriterously. Captain OWONARU was a torch bearer in Niger Delta struggle until his death. He was an illustrious son of Ijaw nation. His meriterious services will be forever remembered.
We pray that May God almighty gives Owonaru family and Ijaw nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.
Signed
Comrade Ozobo Austin

Delta To Prosecute Defaulters Of Environmental Sanitation Law
Delta To Prosecute Defaulters Of Environmental Sanitation Law
DELTA State Government has warned that anyone caught in the act of indiscriminately dumping refuse in places not designated for such purpose, would be prosecuted and made to face the full wrath of the law.
The State Chairman, Taskforce on Environment Hon. Sylvester Oromoni disclosed this recently at Governor's Office Annexe in Warri.
Oromoni who was represented by the Coordinator, Delta Central and South senatorial districts, Comrade Kingsley Iweka, said indiscriminate dumping of refuse causes flooding and degrades the environment.
According to him, the raining season is here again and NIMET has predicted that Delta State will be flooded.
"To reduce the effects, wastes should not be thrown into water channels. Let me appeal to all Deltans and community executives to assist the government by clearing all drainages and link them to their natural routes.
He called on Coastal communities to be vigilant and watch the water level so they won't be overtaken by water according to NIMET prediction.
According to NIMET, rainfall is expected to be near normal, “heavy rainfall may result in flooding, which could disrupt traffic, delay construction activities, and weaken or wash out the soil and culverts that support roads, tunnels, and bridges. Temperatures can cause the pavement to soften and expand. This can create pot-holes, particularly in high-traffic areas and can place stress on bridge joints. Therefore, drivers are advised to drive carefully, especially during onset and cessation as this period is characterised by heavy downpour that can impede visibility.
He urged Deltans to report Environmental abuses through our Facebook channel (TASKFORCE ON ENVIRONMENT).
He charged members of taskforce on Environment to be faithful and maintain the established unity of command, even as he emphasised on the need for them to work as a team to achieve better results.
He commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for empowering the Ministry of Environment Taskforce through making funds available to enable it discharge its delegated functions.

I did not at any time author, sign any publication to withdraw OMS Job from Capt. Hosa who is also our Niger Delta leader from Edo State.
The said Publication is an attempt to discredit, assassinate my untainted character as a Stakeholder.
I have often warned Comr Ozobo Austin to halt meddelling into some sensitive issues of this magnitude as this.
Being an activist is not a yardstick to create enemity with our leaders because you are endowed with intellectual propensity.
However, I wish to cease this medium to calm fray nerves over the malicious publication emanated from overzealous Ozobo Austin.
Since Hosa was Contracted to Manage OMS Job, the area have been very peaceful working with other critical stakeholders and there has been no reason for anyone with no sinister motive to call on Federal Government, NNPC and heads of security apparatus to terminate oil Surveillance Job.
Ozobo intention is aimed at causing disaffection and rancour between me and leaders from the said Area. More so I am my Ijaw brother's Keeper, a Protector, a champion of the Ijaw Course over the years and not a Alien as painted on the said Publication by Ozobo.
In same vein, he Ozobo have also impersonated me Sometime ago without my knowledge to petition Rt. Hon. Nicholas Mutu, brother over a purported abandonment of Akugbene Community NDDC shore protection job which am not abreast of. How could a learned Civil rights Activist author a petition, sign it in another person's name and office without his knowledge or drawing his attention to it ? is what am yet to comprehend. If not for my ally from Bomadi L.G.A, l could not have been informed that l was impersonated by Austin Ozobo.
The general public should please disregard such call by mentally overzealous Cmr Austin Ozobo, President of IPDI, the statement adds."

PIPELINE SURVEILLANCE: IPDI ACCUSES HOSA OKUNBOR FOR SPONSORING CRISIS IN OIL COMMUNITIES, DESCRIBES OMS GBARAMATU CHAIRMEN, DON DICKSON, GOOD LUCK JOEL, BURUTU MORZU AS FACELESS, INSTISTS ON TERMINATION OF OMS CONTRACT
Press Statement
15th June, 2020
PIPELINE SURVEILLANCE:
IPDI ACCUSES HOSA OKUNBOR FOR SPONSORING CRISIS IN OIL COMMUNITIES, DESCRIBES OMS GBARAMATU CHAIRMEN, DON DICKSON, GOOD LUCK JOEL, BURUTU MORZU AS FACELESS, INSTISTS ON TERMINATION OF OMS CONTRACT
Our attention has been drawn to a malicious, mischievous, frivolous and misguided publication accredited to some miscreants and uncivilized and isane persons parading under non-existed surveillance chairmen of Gbaramatu Ocean Marine Solution Limited ,OMS, attempting to mislead the gullible public for ulterior reasons over the ongoing genuine agitation by aggrieved youths of the affected oil communities for inclusion.
We want to state unequivocally that the self-styled and un-existed body is being sponsored by Captain Hosa Okunbor to distract and divert attention of the genuine agitators who are demanding for inclusion for the pipeline surveillance contract in their communities.
It is appalling that Hosa Okunbor, CEO/chairman OMS, instead of addressing core and leading issues raised by the aggrieved youth bodies of OMS operational communities, he is sponsoring cheap war against youths demanding for inclusion in OMS operations in Oil producing communities in the riverine area.
This is a ground why Hosa Okunbor contract must be terminated as no responsible contractor will sponsored attack on his host communities. The general public should disregard these sponsored lies peddled by mischievous persons.
We also read some frivolous online reports issued by some faceless and sponsored Don Dickson, Goodluck Joel and one Burutu Morzu, purported OMS beneficiaries. The faceless Don Dickson said aggrieved youths of OMS operational areas and Bullet Otuaro should be held responsible for any attack on oil facilities in OMS operational areas. This is treacherous, it is an act of betrayal. This threat was meant to silent the well-embraced demands of aggrieved youths. Bullet Otuaro and aggrieved youths haven't said they will attack pipeline in their areas. Don Dickson may have intention to attack pipeline and framed it on aggrieved youths. We are not strange over how some surveillance beneficiaries connived with pipeline contractors to burst oil pipelines and slammed it on militant. This is another attempt of such. The self-acclaimed Don Dickson should be placed on security watch for anticipating possible attack on oil pipelines in the OMS operational areas.
It was also wrong for the said mischievous Don Dickson to accused Bullet Otuaro and other aggrieved youths of making case for Global west Surveillance Firm. The aggrieved youths only make some comparations on how they were well-treated by the former. They never said the contract should be reawarded to Global West surveillance. It is a pity that the self-acclaimed Don could talk from both sides of his mouth and condescend so low to be used against his brothers. He is a traitor and a middlesome interloper, after all his name was not mentioned by the aggrieved youths in their publications.
We wish to state that Okunbor sponsored group can't distract the aggrieved youths from pursuing their genuine demands. He is only complicating issues for himself. It is a pity that Okunbor is sponsoring a cheap war to cover up his evil deeds as to continue with his exploitation in OMS oil communities.
The purported and non-existed OMS chairmen are traitors ,a clog in the wheel of progress and we are disappointed in them. The public should disregard their falsehoods and sponsored attacks against genuine youths being sidelined in OMS operations.
The purported sponsored group can't speak for Ijaw youths in OMS surveillance communities. They were sponsored to disorganized their house for selfish interest.
They are betrayers for allowing themselves to be used to fight their house. Selling your house because of small money given to you may attract the law of Karma, let them be warned.
It is wrong for purported OMS beneficiaries to fight their aggrieved brothers. You are lucky to be considered through backdoors do not mean your brother should not be given opportunity. Those fighting against aggrieved youths agitating for inclusion in the surveillance contract are enemies of Ijaw nation as creating a space for the aggrieved youths will helped to reduce unemployment and crime in the state.
We however, call on President Muhammadu Buhari, the national assembly, NNPC director, Delta State governor, his excellency senator Ifeanyi Okowa and other various security heads in the country to terminate the oil surveillance contract awarded to Hosa Okunbor for instigating uproar and crisis which may jeopardize the existing peace in Niger Delta region.
Signed
Mayor Timi Ogobiri
Spokesperson Ijaw People's Development Initiative, IPDI.
Delta to enforce ban on tricycles plying highways
Delta to enforce ban on tricycles plying highways
Francis Tayor
Warri____ Delta State Government is set to begin enforcement of ban of tricycles popularly known as Keke Napep from plying federal highways.
This was made known today at the Government House Annexe Warri during a meeting with the State Taskforce Chairman on Environment, Honourable Sylvester Oromoni and the Keke Union Executive of both warri and Uvwie.
According to Oromoni, the prohibited routes includes, NPA express way Warri, Asaba Onitsha express way, DSC express way Udu, Effurrun roundabout to Oghara express way, PTI junction to Abraka-Agbor axis, DSC roundabout to Ughelli, Patani and Ozoro, Kwale- Asaba.
Honourable Oromoni noted that the meeting is all about maintaining free flow of traffic in Warri, Effurun and its environs, saying any Keke Napep applying federal highways henceforth, would be arrested.
He reiterated that only Buses,Taxi and other four wheel vehicles are allowed to ply such routes, stressing that the essence is to reduce untimely deaths as result of avoidable road crashes as well as to control heavy traffic jam on the highways.
According to him: " The Delta State government has banned tricycles from plying federal highways in Delta since Dr. Uduaghan tenure as governor and Governor Okowa upon assumption upheld same.
"It is very unfortunate that Keke Napep drivers have refused to obey the law due to improper monitoring. We are here to reinforce the law, and any one that violates the directive will pay a fine of #20,000.
"I want to sternly warn tricycle operators that, after today's meeting, they should desist from plying the highways stated above, noting that governor Okowa led government will not tolerate it anymore, he stated."
In his response, the Chairman Keke Napep Drivers Union Association of Delta State, Evang. Paul Onyema, said: " They are partnering with the environmental taskforce in order to stop Keke operators from using the above mentioned highways in Warri and its environs.
"One of our major challenge is that many of the keke riders are based in Ughelli, Agbarho and other nearby villages. And with this, they will have to drive through the prohibited route but we will discuss with them, if you must work around warri, you will have to get a place to keep your keke to resume the next day.
"As the Chairman, l have equally warned Keke operators from Agbarho, Ughelli to either operate where they are staying or risk been arrested by taskforce officials, he added."
Mr, Samuel Atiyota Egere, Uvwie Chairman of the union in his statement said that he agreed that the keke is constituting nuisance by parking indiscriminately, disobeying traffic rules and road crashes.
He said that he was also aware that there was no park alloted to keke operators in the state but the state should out of their magnanimity look into that.
Finally, he said that the union will abide by the agreement with the Government not to ply Delta highways.

Gbaramatu's Superiority Dance-By Ekanpou Enewaridideke
Gbaramatu's Superiority Dance-By Ekanpou Enewaridideke
Dance is an artistic form of expression rhythmically built into man from the womb before expulsion, or after expulsion when man is carried pickaback by nursing mothers. It derives the mainspring of performance from the type of choreographic excellence or ingenuity that underpins the dancing fame of Amgbare Embeleakpo,Augustine Ferebo and Tosi Pafiye. Gbaramatu kingdom's dance is arrogantly spiced with condiments of historical superiority complex. It is this aroma of historical superiority complex perpetually characteristic of the Gbaramatus that makes them perpetually and disgustingly 'Gbaramatuic' in any gathering they are spotted in their usual identifiable dance. Why are the Gbamaratus so annoyingly arrogant, hysterically carrying a superiority complex too complex in altitude to be trapped and measured geographically? Is this what they learn from their so-called Ijo, Gbaraun and Oporozawei?
Yes, I know Gbaramatu kingdom has a well-packaged history, though hysterically packaged rather. With their hysterically packaged history, drawing on all their intellectual arsenals anywhere in the world, I see in Gbaramatu Kingdom a songbird with a diseased and dislocated syrinx churning out musically a succession of notes that have alienated thousands of their hitherto mesmerised enthusiasts. Has Gbaramatu Kingdom become the songbird with a diseased syrinx that urgently requires epidemiological attention?
From now till the bones of this generation grow weary and yield way to oceanic waves in their tireless crested dance for another generation to surge wave-like, the truism will always grow ageless in the assertion that nobody swallows tolerantly being awfully hooted at by owls in the forest without a responsive exercise of exorcism prayerfully cast in any language of choice - Urhobo, Ijaw, Isoko, Itsekiri, Ibo, Yoruba, Hausa etc.
When a particular kingdom in Ijaw nation historically places itself above Ngbilebiri-Mein, Ogbolubiri-Mein, Akugbene-Mein kingdoms and many other kingdoms in Nigeria, a boat of anger journeys towards that kingdom. That the Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State has historically projected herself above other kingdoms is tantamount to the imprecatory hooting of owls in the forest, frightening forest-dwellers and occasional forest visitors towards meditative thoughts of exorcism harboured instantly to harmonize mystically the threatened environment inhabited by awful owls. Today is therefore no day to chart a laudatory path to Gbaramatu kingdom over some commendable achievements attained by pure dint of hardwork, rather than by the Achebic 'benevolent spirits' imbued with the power to break kernels for men without formal solicitation.
My mother Timiebi whose failing memory now subjects her to fitful forgetfulness of my existence,my mother who told me that Ogbolomo is the father of Mein the eponymous father of Mein Kingdom,my mother who taught me how to hollow canoes out of Kuru trees, still knows that I am a canoe-carver.All through my canoe-carving business I have always operated convivially on identifiable wavelength with Gbaramatu kingdom because some of their men have often entrepreneurially constituted the solid base of my canoe-carving career. But today I have to take a different path to interrogate and silence the historical arrogance of Gbaramatu kingdom and be gladly labelled the perpetual enemy of the Gbaramatu Kingdom.
Dear Gbaramatu Kingdom, if the route to losing your friendship is through an intellectual interrogation and faulting of your historic historical arrogance, I am glad to go down in history as your number one enemy in 2020 because my hatred of historical arrogance and historical superiority complex is instinctual and inextinguishable.
Can anything be more maddening and arrogant than the historical placement of Gbaramatu Kingdom's existence in the 13th Century? Where did you get that historical dating from, dear Gbaramatu Kingdom?
Which historical data gave Gbaramatu Kingdom this 'objectionable', 'excommunicated', 'redundant', 'unpalatable', malodorous historical superiority complex and arrogance intellectually deodorized as the history of Gbaramatu Kingdom? Have we sailed into the season where kingdoms like Gbaramatu kingdom are at liberty to claim historical superiority dressed and passed off as deodorized historical excrement?
However, though instinctually provoked by Gbaramatu Kingdom,I hope I have not just morphed into that ridiculous Lakunle of Wole Soyinka's creation in LION AND THE JEWEL?
In the deliberate move to win the first prize of historical superiority in the neighbourhood and deodorize their stinking historical claims, the Gbaramatu kingdom shamelessly tells their story thus: Gbaramatu is historically the first dispersal unit of Ijaw nation - possibly after the historically claimed position of B.O.Agidee,Y.Agidee and F.O.Penawor of the ancient Akugbene-Mein Kingdom that Ijo migrated from Mecca to Ile-Ife and other places with his brothers Idodo and Oduduwa though Simon Koromoweri Owonaro claimed contrarily, historically that Lamurudu is the father of Oduduwa who gave birth to Ijo,Lufou,Ajibota and Godo.By Owonaro's historical claim, Ijo had three brothers dispersed into different parts of the world - which is different from the historical stand from the Gbaramatus at some level. It was from Gbaramatu kingdom,as historically claimed, the entire Ijaw nation dispersed South- Eastward and beyond. Is this a deliberate historical fictionalization? Has Simon Koromoweri Owonaro equally read the questionable historical claims of the Gbaramatus?
Steadily and fearlessly, in their deodorized dance of deliberate historical superiority, the Gbaramatu Kingdom poled their way historically in the River down the course that Gbaraun was the first son of Ijo (Ijaw, Izon) who had many children. The man called Ijo first lived in Oporoza in Gbaramatu Kingdom with his children before his expansionist tendencies moved him away to Gbaraun town in Bayelsa State where Ijo eventually died at old age and got befittingly buried in Gbaraun. Here historical divergence can be located between Gbaramatu Kingdom's account and that of Simon Owonaro whose historical stand maintains that Ijo died in Apoi - a place in Ondo Province of Yoruba land - later named after one of Ijo's grandson called Apoi. Between the two accounts, which one stridently strikes notes of believability? Who deserves and qualifies for the trophy of historical arrogance here?
Gbaramatu kingdom became a void after the departure of Ijo from Oporoza to Gbaraun town and his death at old age there. Gbaraun the first son of Ijo died in the early 13th century. Upon the death of Gbaraun, Usaka the founder of Usakubiri and his kinsmen named Tomibi and Oporozawei journeyed to Gbaramatu kingdom to relocate the creek (Oporoza-Uba) in the Escravos River where Ijo first lived and left a thunder-stone as a historical marker of his first place of sojourn. Oporoza was located as the place where Ijo first lived when he migrated having left his father Oduduwa, his grandfather Lamurudu(as Simon Owonaro would say historically). To the Gbaramatus,Okita the son of Oporozawei had Gbaranwei, Kabowei and Kumbowei as his three sons. However, these three sons got separated and went different ways as Gbaranwei dwelled in Taylor creek on the way to Kaiama and founded Nedugoama, Polaku, Ogobiri, Agbia and other towns.Kabowei founded Aven, Trofani, Adagbabiri, Elemebiri, Abari and others. Kumbowei founded Agolomo, Toru-Angiama, Sagbama and others. Perebiyenmo the founder of Arogbo-Ijo Ibe in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State had lived in Oporoza before he founded the Arogbos of Ondo State.
In the historical stand of Simon Owonaro who dances fractionally different from the Gbaramatu kingdom is that Gbaraun had Fieowei, Arigbo and Isuku as his children. Fieowei gave birth to Oporoza who gave birth to Gbaran, Kumbo and Kabu. Isuku gave birth to Tuo, Effurun, Tubuigbe, Tamuigbe, Torugbene and Ikerre. Despite the fractional divergence between Simon Owonaro and Gbaramatu Kingdom, it is a clear historical truism that Oporoza, Kunukunuma, Okerenkoko, Benikurukuru, Azama, Inikorogha, Kokodiagbene, Igoba, Opuede and Kantu are the nine communities that make up the Gbaramatu kingdom though eight communities out of the nine are the eigtht ruling communities traditionally empowered to produce kings with the exception of Okerenkoko whose power does not go beyond the production of king makers (Pere-tuabu) and the Regent when the king dies.
The historically arrogant Gbaramatu also had it in their deodorized historical account that the Gbaramatu Kingdom had 52 years of Interregnum when the British stormed Nigeria with their indirect rule of adminstration. Because the Gbaramatu kingdom refused to kowtow to the British administration, the traditional institutions were dismantled in favour of Warrant Chiefs. For effective adminstration of Gbaramatu kingdom, Chief Uwenegha (1918( Chief Oluba (1924), Chief Ogelegbanwei (1925) Chief Osokiri (1925) Chief Okrika (1925), Chief Osiboge (1925), Chief Ogun kale-Egran (1925) and Chief Ukere Okoh (1925) were appointed Warrant Chiefs by the British Colonial administration. When the era of Warrant Chiefs died, Zai-Teimo Gbaraun II was traditionally made the king of Gbaramatu kingdom in 1976, and he died after 24 years of rulership - 1976-2000.
Radiantly arrogant as the Gbaramatu Kingdom in historical dance steps, her traditional traditional institution was phenomenally well-organized before the arrival of the British Colonial administration and after the death of the era of indirect rule, their traditional institution staged an unbeatable dance of admirable resurgence demonstrated here by their questionable historically dated, deodorized account of systematic Pereship in their ancient Kingdom traced to the life of Ijo the Progenitor of Ijaw nation and his first son Gbaraun - Pere Gbaraun I (Gbaraun Ijo) 1372 - 1421, Pere Oporozawei I (Oporoza Gbaraun) 1421-1426, Pere Oporozawei II (Fiebai Oporozawei) 1426-1468, Pere Ogei I (Egbelou Ogei) 1468 - 1495, Pere Ikiretimi I (Sei Ikirentimi) 1495-1560, Pere Oboro I (Burut Oboro) 1560-1590, PEre Ebiabu I (Ebiabo Ofomini) 1590-1627, Pere Arugu I (Ebiowei Arugu) 1627-1652, PEre Daugeregha I (Veke daugeregha) 1652-1670 Pere Dein-Owei I (Agidi Deinowei) 1670-1689, Pere Ugborugbo I (Ebime Ugborugbo) 1689-1711, Pere Saisai I (Ekiri Saisai) 1711-1728, Pere Tomitibe I (Ebilade Tomitibi) 1728-1739, Pere Ogbeyama I (Amakubu Ogbeyama) 1739-1760, Pere Usaku I (Suaru Usaku) 1760-1761 PEre Usaku II (Bojo Usaku) 1761-1800, Pere Fieowei I (Brabai Fieowei) 1800-1825, Pere Etibo I (Ikiyan Etibo) 1825-1848, Pere Kenebra I (Ofini-Ege Kenebra) 1848-1861, Pere Agbo I (Ofomini Agbo) 1861-1872, Pere Gbazo I (Egbene Gbazo) 1872-1892, PEre Ekpesin I (Furuh ekpesin) 1892-1913, Pere Ukpolukpo I (tanga Ukpolukpo) 1913-1924, Interregnum (1924-1976), Pere Zai Tiemo Gbaran II (Zai Teimo) 1976-2000, Regency (Chief Alfred M. Bubor, Chief Wolo Ukulor (2000-2008), Ogeh-Gbaraun III (DSP Godwin K. Bebenimibo) 2008-2013, Regency (Chief Elder Oyagha P.T Heavens JP) 2013-2016 Oboro-Gbaraun II (William Ogoba) 2016 till date.
Interestingly, a familiar sense of quotable historicity is struck only when kingdoms trace their historical roots of origination from 1923 - 1927 or from 1927 to eternity after the Intelligence Reports of various kingdoms had been written by the whitemen. Kingdoms hardly trace their roots of Origin beyond the Intelligence Report territory. That is a repellent intellectual laziness!
Stubbornly, the Gbaramatu Kingdom traced their roots of origin from IJo the progenitor of Ijaw nation to his son Gbaraun and his grandson Oporoza, indicating historically that there was Gbaramatu Kingdom long before the advent of the Colonial Masters and after the departure of the Colonial Masters. Before reaching their questionable historical position, the Gbaramatu Kingdom depended on the quotable authoritative voices of people like .A. Talbort, Professor E.J. Alagoa, William Moore, Daurte Pacheco Pereira and many other oral and archaeological authorities. These written, oral and archeological authorities either gave the Gbaramatu Kingdom direct or indirect historical cartography merged into this so-called deodorized historical narrative that gave them away as lovers of historical superiority complex and historical arrogance. Were the Gbaramatus aware of the existence of historical superiority complex and historical arrogance while they were collating their history?
It is a fact, not a fiction, that whenever an invention sails beyond the identifiable territory of historical orthodoxy, it is often blessed with trophies of derogatory language and infantile accusations. The G5 technology is yet to recover from its season of bashing and derogatory categorization. It is only natural that the Gbaramatu Kingdom would be derogated as historically arrogant animated by thoughts of historical superiority complex when their own history of origin is intelligently and systematically traced along verifiable historical contours using names of places and people whose historicity can be verified.
That some so-called intellectuals are too lazy to trace their history of origination along verifiable historical contours long documented and date it chronologically is no license for the use of derogatory language on the Gbaramatus over their history of origin traced beyond the orthodoxy of Intelligence Reports though the historical echoes of the Intelligent Reports are still there in a subdued tone.
I do not see any historical arrogance and claims of historical superiority complex in the historical accounts of the Gbaramatu Kingdom. If the intelligently traced contours of Gbaramatu Kingdom's account of origination can be associated with a conscious dance of historical arrogance and historical superiority complex, it should be attributed to the controversial avant garde stylistic arrogance of the village writer whose words now stray either like the detected pen's vagabondage of Benike Joseph's creation or the Jpclarked Fulani Cattle known for 'the drunken journey from desert, through grass and forest, To the hungry towns by the sea...'
Likely, 'contrition will now strike and 'twine' my readers 'like a snake' upon the discovery that my pen has strayed once again vagabond-like and Fulani-Cattle-like to the extent the Gbaramatus are derogated and minimised as historically arrogant people carrying a historical superiority complex on their heads. Oh! when will the reckless stray of Ekanpou's vagabond pen stop and silence Benike Joseph's projected pen's vagabondage in this era of Covid - 19 pandemic when the Gbaramatu Kingdom gracefully dances out quotable and verifiable historical steps in a historiographical language that goes back to the 13th century?
