Lagos_____ The 2020 Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) National election Electoral Committee Chairman, Barr. Bekewei Ajuwa has congratulated former MEND leader, Philanthropist cum ljaw freedom fighter, High Chief. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo as Justice Ibrahim Buba of Federal High Court Lagos acquitted and discharged over charges of N45.9bn fraud against him.

In a congratulatory message released on Thursday morning at Warri, Bekewei stated that God Almighty and the gods of ljaw nation has finally vindicated Tompolo's innocent over the political motivated charges against him.

It will be recalled that  Justice Buba led Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday upheld the no-case submission filed by Tompolo and others. Government Ekpemupolo, known as Tompolo, was the leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), the main militant group in the region.

Nigeria’s federal high court in Lagos had repeatedly summoned the former militant leader from the country’s oil-rich Niger Delta region to appear in court to face charges of alleged corruption but never appeared.

Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) took Tompolo to court to answer questions on a 40-count charge of alleged money laundering, conspiracy, stealing and diversion of funds.

However, Bekewei applauded the Federal High Court judgement as a welcome development, and thank God for His mercy upon the life of our leader through out the trying time of the case. He therefore, celebrates with the peace maker of Niger Delta as he triumph at the Federal High Court Lagos yesterday over the political motivated trump up allegations against him.

Featured Article: Our Oil, Our Suffering, A View Of The Incessant Pollution/Gas Flaring In Ogulagha Kingdom__Keneware Emmanuel

In spite of the environmental pollution rocking the land and water as a result of crude oil pollution, resulting to dead fishes and other aquatic organism. Gas Flaring, one of the deadliest. Which affect the ecosystem and the ozone layer resulting to respiratory problems by affecting the lungs, ribs  and other organs consequently leading to slow agony of death.

Pathetic to state that those enjoying the oil wealth live outside the region. They live on luxurious houses in Abuja, Lagos, etc.
Majority of Those living in the areas eat from hand to mouth, with no hope for the future.

However, few years ago, research carried out by microbial scientists revealed that the Niger Deltans have shorter life expectancy than people outside the region due to the poisoned and polluted terrain they lived in vis a vis the polluted air they inhale daily.

The oil companies and the Nigerian government are very much aware of this grave danger, but because they value the oil more than the People on whose soil they extract it, nothing is done practically to tackle this avoidable calamity. Thus, the oil wealth is now a trade-off for the People's comfort and progress. The lands is no doubt a contagious marshland for all manners of deadly diseases.
Suffice to say that some death happening in our areas is as a result of the accumulated inhaled poisonous substance.

The Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State is a host to various oil and gas flowstation operated by SPDC, Chevron, Agip, Mobil, Brittina U etc.
And they've in one way or the order constantly involve in this  act of environmental/air pollution.

The discharge of toxic chemical substance to both the land, water and air is now unbearable. Enough is Enough.

Just today at Sokebolou Community in Ogulagha Kingdom, host to the Yokiri Flowstation with over 30 oil wells witness again the discharge of  poisonous substance (gas flaring) in the environment.
See Proof below......

How long are we going to die because of our God given wealth.
I hereby call the Federal government of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of State Petroleum, Chief Timipre Slyva and the Delta State Government of Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Commissioner Oil and Gas, Mr. Emmanuel Agbaduba to cautioned the SPDC, and urge them to compensate the host community with immediate alarcrity.

People will not die because of their own wealth. It is unacceptable.

SPDC Hazardous Chemical: Ogulagha Youths Clarify General Public On The Source, Location And Cause Of Dead Fishes

SPDC Hazardous Chemical: Ogulagha Youths Clarify General Public On The Source, Location And Cause Of Dead Fishes

...... Says SPDC Waste Disposal line is located in Ogulagha Community and 7KM away from Odimodi

Warri _____ The youths under the leadership of Mr Anthony Okilo Waterwei in Ogulagha Community under Ogulagha kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State has faulted and Debunked an online publication made by the youth president of Odimodi Community, Mr Akin DC, Claiming SPDC Waste disposal line and Forcados Terminal has been "located in Odimodi Community" which in it's entirety is not true.

Mr Anthony refuted the said publication in a press statement which was made available to newsmen in Warri.

The statement Reads;

" The dead of fishes found floating on our sea and shorelines particularly in Ogulagha kingdom, neighboring kingdoms and villages in Burutu and Warri South West LGAs, Delta State and other parts of Niger Delta region is not new to us and even the Government.

We want to thank God that one of our Neighbour who happens to be the youth president of our neighbouring community "Odimodi Community",  Mr Akin DC who made efforts to find the cause and source of the dead fishes.

We are pleased with your findings and doggedness as regards the cause of the dead fishes. it was a good one but, we wish to draw your attention to paragraph three (3) of the  said publication stating that  the "dead fishes were caused as a result of  SPDC's Hazardous chemicals Discharged into our sea through their waste Disposal line in ODIMODI FORCADOS TERMINAL" which we the Ogulagha Community youths find as not true, false claim and misleading.

For the sake of clarity and to Educate you of your Ignorance, we want to categorically state it that Odimodi Community is never a host to SPDC but, just an impacted Community.

We find your statement worrisome and incorrect because, Ogulagha Community in Ogulagha Kingdom, is the legitimate host to SPDC and FORCADOS TERMINAL where the water disposal line is also located.

We hereby call on  the general public to disregard such a misleading publication as Odimodi community is about 7KM far away from the SPDC water disposal line and hereby warn Mr Akin DC to decease from such act as we will not take it from him or any other group persons next time"

Mr Anthony stated.

Below is Distinguished Comrade Akin Dc, a Youth Leader from the Oil rich region of the Niger Delta. Who dared to make a difference. He took his time to investigate the reasons why Fishes are dying on the shore lines and this is what he found.

The dying fishes are Caused by SPDC pouring hazardous chemicals into our sea through their waste disposal line in Odimodi forcados terminal. Yesterday, he was invited to the Senate of Federal Republic of Nigeria for a public hearing on the issue...

Guess what, he did Justice to the topic. That most Senators from the region had to give him handshakes... This is how advocacy should go in the 21st Century... Mr Akin Dc, you have made NDU Geology Department proud. Keep been our ambassador and the people you represent as the Odimodi Youth President. To your rising, there is no limit.

What's your take on this? Do you also agree with the experimentation done by the young man. Comment and share your thoughts, also don't forget to click on the follow button for more interesting articles.

2020 IYC Election: ljaw Group Calls For Bekeowei Immediate Replacement, Says He Lacks Experience And Competent To Conduct Credible Election

2020 IYC Election: ljaw Group Calls For Bekeowei Immediate Replacement, Says He Lacks Experience And Competent To Conduct Credible Election

Francis Tayor

Warri______ An ljaw interest group under the auspices of Concerned Citizens For Izon-ebe Development (CCFID) has called for the immediate replacement of the 2020 IYC election ELECO Chairman, Barr. Bekeowei Ajuwa on the ground that he lacks the experience and competency to conduct a free, fair and credible election.

The group noted that Mr. Bekeowei is strange to the activities of ljaw youth council, stressing that he lacks the experience and capacity to address issues amicably, as well as to protect ljaw interest as regards to the election.

In a communique issued on Sunday at Warri after emergency meeting, the group said Bekeowei has compromised his integrity to some powers in order to truncate the sacrifices and progresses made so far by some patriotic ljaw youth leaders to unite Council.

According to the group President, Comrade Oyinbi Onduku said: " l want to first appreciate Barr. Oweilaemi Pereotubo, Barr. Eric Omare and other notable ljaw leaders for their sacrifices to harmonize and resolve lYC factional crisis.

The current ELECO Chairman and the Committee members are expected to widely consult past leaders of Council in order to know the modus operandi of the system before fixing election date."

" It is outright disgrace that, two days to election, Bekeowei led ELECO Committee could not resolve delegate issues despite raises of alarm by aggrieved persons from various clans.

The same Ajuwa refuses to make public the authentic delegate list for aspirants in order to save them from unnecessary spending, as well as to identify with the authentic delegates before the eve to the election.

As result of that, many aspirants where defrauded of their scarce resources by fraudulent persons in the name of claiming lYC delegate."

Onduku reiterated that a competent ELECO Chairman is expected to source for fund and put every logistics in place before the eve to the election, but unfortunately the reverse is the case for Bekeowei Ajuwa.

In the area of media coverage, Bekeowei engages foreign media houses to cover the forthcoming election, but deliberately sidelined ljaw media organizations of their right to cover their own election.

Finally, Onduku said lt is obvious that Ajuwa is unpatriotic and strange to the happenings in ljaw Nation.

He noted that if Ajuwa cannot feel the positive impacts made so far by the ljaw media organizations to the ljaw course over the years, meaning he is sleeping and not conversant on ljaw matters for a very long time.

" Therefore, it signifies that, Bekeowei is alien to the ljaw course, hence his immediate replacement is necessary since he cannot protect ljaw interest in the forthcoming IYC election, Comr. Onduku stated."

Why Comrade Sammy George Should Be Allowed To Contest The Forthcoming IYC National Election__King Zubri

Why Comrade Sammy George Should Be Allowed To Contest The Forthcoming IYC National Election__King Zubri

My name is Markson Kingsley A.K.A King Zubri, I am an Ijaw highlife artist and I've never been involved in IYC politics. Although I'm a firm believer in the Ijaw Traditional Belief System.

For sometime now, I've been having dreams and ministrations concerning Comrade Sammy George and that's what inspired the music which I did on his behalf.

I've never known or met Comrade Sammy George before and even though he has stepped down from the Presidential Race yet I kept getting ministerial messages concerning him.

That Ijaw Leaders should allow him to contest him to exercise his franchise in the IYC National Election, that what God wants to use him achieve for the Ijaw Nation is best known to God, Our Ancestors and the Gods of the Ijaw Nation.

These persistent repetition of these messages and ministrations is what prompts me to do this write up. Though I do not know why anyone will ask Comrade Sammy George to step down considering the efficacy of the messages I'm getting and that has refused to go away.

What am been shown is glorious hence, there is the need for the leaders and major stakeholders of the IYC to jettison certain sentimentalities that will only land the IYC in another round of setbacks and allow for the will of God to take effect in order to reposition the Ijaw Nation through the IYC for greatness and sustainable development and growth.

The message I got, is what I'm passing to the Ijaw Nation. I cannot say what I've not seen because I have no interest in the outcome of the forthcoming election but to bring to the minds of Ijaw People that they should not make the mistake of disregarding this message and acting accordingly. I've given my message and those who have ears should hear and or leave it.

Long live the IYC

Long live the Ijaw Nation

God should guide us right.

Delta Govt commences state-wide demolition of illegal structures

Delta Govt commences state-wide demolition of illegal structures

Delta State government has commenced a state-wide demolition of illegal structures, reading a riot act to defaulters of building codes and those who have encroached on government property to remove their structures or face dire consequences.

Illegal attachments at Sapele Central hospital were early hours on Friday morning demolished. At Sapele market road, the structures illegally built on the walkways, drainages were removed.

The State Taskforce Chairman on Environment Honourable Sylvester Oromoni, said demolition of illegal structures became imperative as defaulters and violators had failed to heed several notices served on them. "To some persons, it's an act of wickedness but what the government actually stand to achieve is to bring sanity to urban areas and restore already defaced aesthetics.

"The demolition of buildings and structures that do not conform to the existing urban rules and regulations here in Delta will not be overlooked any longer Oromoni stressed.. "The flagrant disregards of building codes and respect for extant laws guarding property development needed to be checked, hence the exercise.

“The process has commenced in earnest in different parts of the state and those with structures on unapproved sites or without necessary building plans are hereby put on notice. "We warn all those who have built on roads, Right of Way, school property and on Federal and State governments’ land to remove their properties immediately as demolition of such buildings statewide has commenced."

Oromoni called on the local Government Council Chairmen to collaborate with the Taskforce on Environment to achieve this without hiccups. He added that the state notices served on the defaulters still subsists, noting that whoever is caught violating the law will face the dire consequences. Sylvanus Aguguo, an Imo state indigene who hailed from Isu local Government said that in his 39 years here in Sapele local Government, he has never seen a clinical demonstration such as this.

2020 IYC Election: Any Further Postponement Of The National Election By The Electoral Committee Will Not Be Tolerated, Says Olorogun

IYC Press Statement

9th July, 2020

2020 IYC Election: Any Further Postponement Of The National Election By The Electoral Committee Will Not Be Tolerated, Says Olorogun

0.1. The forum of Zonal and Chapter Chairmen of the revered Ijaw Youth Council ( IYC) Worldwide rose from a crucial meeting on Thursday, July 9, 2020 with a clear resolve that any further postponement of the IYC National Elections by the Electoral Committee would be stoutly rejected.

It noted that the obvious disunity and the seemingly discordant tunes arising from the activities of the Electoral Umpire, underscores the unpreparedness and luckwarm attitude of its members to the onerous responsibility given to them by the Ijaw nation.

The forum urged the Chairman and Members of the Electoral Committee to put their act together and ensure that they deliver on their promise of conducting a credible election that meets both local and International standards.

0.2. Arising from the meeting the forum had with members of the Electoral Committee and some past leaders of Council, it was observed that the Electoral umpire was not prepared for the election scheduled for 10th and 11th of July, 2020. In this vain, the forum regrets any inconveniences the postponement of the elections might have caused the aspirants and other critical stakeholders of Council.

The forum urged the aspirants, delegates and other stakeholders that had already arrived for the elections to see the postponement of the  elections to the 18th and 19th of July, 2020 as a necessary sacrifice needed to maintain the cohesiveness and non fragmentation of the Council.

0.3. Following, the forum has resolved that; if the Electoral Committee fails in its commitment to conduct the election on the new date as agreed  by former leaders of Council and other critical stakeholders. The forum, alongside other leaders of Council would convene a National Convention that will   dissolve the Electoral Committee.

0.4. In line with the resolve to ensure that, if the Electoral Umpire fails to conduct the election, the forum would react swiftly and decisively. The forum holds strongly that any Kobo spent in the process of the elections would be duly accounted for by every member of the Electoral Committee. Even if it requires the involvement of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) to recover the money, the forum would not hesitate to involve the anti-graft agency.

0.5. In order to ensure that the electoral process moves smoothly without any hitch or inhibition, the forum is requesting members of the Electoral Committee to isolate and insulate themselves from the delegate list generating process from the Zones and Chapters. And that, they should forthwith desist from any attempt to manipulate or influence the delegate list that has gone through the mill to the Electoral Committee for publication; to assist  the aspirants in their campaigns and consultations.

0.6. In solidarity with one  of  the pillars of the forum, the Zonal and Chapter Chairmen of the Council heartily felicitates with Comr. ( Chief) Frank Akiefa for the safe delivery of his lovely Wife. The forum further wishes the family,   God's blessings and continuous protection and the enablement to raise the child in the fear of God with sound moral values.

0.7. The forum is urging everyone in the Council and Ijaw nation to close ranks and work closely for the growth and development of the Ijaw nation, bearing in mind that the survival and progress of Ijaw nation rest squarely on our shoulders.

Signed:

Comr. Kennedy Olorogun,
Chairman of the Forum,
For and Unbehalf of All The Members
