Kagbala Applauds Tantita Security, Urges FG for Legal Backing

Kagbala Applauds Tantita Security, Urges FG for Legal Backing

The Publisher and CEO of FocalPoint Reports, Comrade Ezekiel Kagbala has called on the Federal Government to consider legislative backing for Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited besides the funding in order to expand its frontiers not only within the Niger Delta region but across the nation.

Comrade Kagbala who stated this recently, while speaking with newsmen, note that, he was prompted to make this call after embarking on an assessment tour around the Niger Delta creeks in Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers state to ascertain the level of positive environmental input made by the surveillance company as regards implementation of its major goals, geared towards the reduction of illegal local crude oil refining.

To this, he however commended the Federal Government for awarding the pipeline surveillance contract to High Chief Ekpemupolo's company to track down on the massive oil theft in the region, adding that, so far, so well, the Tantita and it's team have done well by involving and engaging the services of the media and stakeholders.
"He furthermore applauded, through his media firm, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Engr. Kestin Pondi for massively employing the services of stakeholders as earlier stated, whom they have empowered across Niger Delta.

According to him, illegal oil refining operations, pipeline vandalism and theft have posed a severe threat and concern in the Niger Delta region due to its hazardous effect on the ecosystem and others inclusive.

"Emissions of dark smoke into the atmosphere as a result of bush burning and gas flaring including other harmful activities that has led to destruction of coastal lines.
"Crude oil fire, pouring its contents into the creeks has compounded our environmental woes, as many kilometers of our coastal areas has been condemned including our farmlands as tidal waves washing it's polluted content along the coast thereby resulting to different forms of ailments".

He posited that, the pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tantita has yielded great results, as pollution and cases of vandalism of oil facilities have reduced to its barest minimum noting that, small scale fish farmers in affected communities are recording progressive gains currently.

"Presently, there are also improved ocean-based commercial activities indicating that, there is an unexpected fast recovery of our damaged environment and ecosystem. These are enough proof that, Tantita Security is not out to ruin the people's businesses but to create a better marine base business through security and preservative approach to the environment.

"It is worthy to note that, Tantita Security outfit had been able to combat and effect necessary decisive measures to achieve it's objectives and gradually restore the bastardized coastal areas and should be applauded for their brevity of daring those who would rather adopt the illegal way at the expense of the people's well-being".
"I strongly advocate and further enjoined the youths, traditional rulers and community leaders to pledge their support and embrace the new opportunities put in place by Tantita Security project".

Yenagoa__ Governorship Candidate of the APC in Bayelsa and former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, H.E Chief Timipre Sylva was on Monday dubbed a Hero of The Ijaw Nation by the Heroes of Ijaw Nation Research Centre.

The Author of the book Heroes of Ijaw Nation, and Group President HINREC (Heroes of Ijaw Nation Research Centre), Gesikeme Akparakata presented to His Excellency Chief ( Dr) Timipre Sylva the Historic King Frederick William Koko War boat, fortifying him for the political battle ahead. In his words, the prolific author Gesikeme Akparakata described the former minister as 'the future of Bayelsa state and one of the Ijaw Nation's finest politicians...'
'Honestly we need him to save Bayelsa State, we  need him to bring his expertise as former Minister to transform the State from the forest as being described by one of our former Governors'

The Center commended Sylva for the noble roles he has played over the years in improving and promoting the Ijaw nation, especially in protection of heritage and deepening of the intellectual pool of the Ijaw nation.

An elated but somewhat emotional Sylva talked about his first run as Governor of Bayelsa State and lectured the center on how he conceptualised the amnesty program, which, ultimately settled restiveness in the Niger Delta region in a screeching stop.
Sylva declared the passage of the PIA ACT 2021 as the highlight of his time as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.

The once knotty PIB had defied passage for more than two decades and three presidencies.

In his acceptance, Sylva thanked the HINREC for the commendable job they have been doing and posited that it was about time Ijaw Heroes were celebrated.

Sylva extolled some Ijaw leaders of blessed memories whose strides helped shape and preserved the Ijaw nation of today.

Sylva also mentioned the late Nationalist Ernest Sissei Ikoli who was the pioneer editor of Daily Times and later became a parliamentarian in Lagos.
'Ijaw nation is blessed with ready examples of virtue for the upcoming generations to follow. We have an enviable pantheon of great men and women in our history and it is time to celebrate and honour them because it is they who have set the pace for us'

'I thank the HINREC for this honour, this will spur me to do even more and I am certain, as an Ijaw man, I will live up to the trajectories you have graciously set for me'

IYC Writes OKowa, Accuses Jite of Aladja Plot to Attack Ogbe-ljoh

IYC Writes OKowa, Accuses Jite of Aladja Plot to Attack Ogbe-ljoh

The people of Ogbe-Ijoh community in Warri South-West Local Government Council of Delta State, have raised an alarm over a looming fresh inter-communal clash between the kingdom and neighbouring Aladja community, an Urhobo ethnic group in Udu Local Government Area of the state.

The Ogbe-Ijoh wing of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC in a letter, addressed to the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on May 2, 2023 accused the Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Chief Jite Brown  planning to attack Ogbe-Ijoh Community, headquarters of Warri South West Local Government council.
In an open letter entitled, "On the plan attack by the people of Aladja community", and signed by the Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Amb. Victor E. Akemotubo said, "Aladja people have dugged the only major access road leading to Ogbe-Ijoh, so as to prevent the military and other passerby to access Ogbe-Ijoh community when there is any attack from Aladja".

Below is the Letter from Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom...

AN OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY SENATOR ARTHUR IFEANYI OKOWA: ON THE PLAN ATTACK BY THE PEOPLE OF ALADJA COMMUNITY

The leadership of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Ogbe-Ijoh Warri kingdom write to inform the general public and the Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa that the leadership of Aladja community, through their son Jite Brown who failed his house of assembly election during the last election has concluded plans to attack Ogbe-Ijoh Community,  headquarters of Warri South West
It has come to our notice that  Aladja people have dugged the only major access road leading to Ogbe-Ijoh, so as to prevent the military and other passerby to access Ogbe-Ijoh community when there is any attack from Aladja.

It is on note that the Aladja community has toll gate at the extreme end of Aladja community leading to Ogbe-Ijoh for easy access to attack the innocent people of Ogbe-Ijoh, and they have concluded plans to destroy the buildings on Ogbe-Ijoh GRA which they always do over time, unnecessary and senseless firing of guns at their convenient time, causing of havoc on Aladja Ogbe-Ijoh road, And threats to life of innocent road users.

As a peace loving people, we call on the entire Urhobo  nation to note that Ogbe-Ijoh Warri kingdom voted massively for their son. Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP, despite Okowa's inability to settle  Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh crisis for the past seven years, the Aladja people deliberately wants to bring disunity among the Ijaws and the Urhobos

We call on Rt Hon. Sheriff  Oborevwori to take note of this, as he will assume office as Governor of the state in less than 26 days from now. We also call on the Executive governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to note and correct the deviance of Jite Brown chairman of Udu local government council who claimed to be the adopted son of the out-going Governor, Senator Okowa to stop his planned last attack as he promised.

The Urhobo nation should be aware and hold Jite Brown responsible for break down of law and order of this two communities, and that Ogbe-Ijoh community do not have any fight with the entire Urhobo nation, it is Jite Brown who is using the council money meant to develop Udu local government to buy arms and animations for Aladja people to attack Ogbe-Ijoh over time.

For the past one week the Aladja people have been coming to Ogbe-Ijoh end to shoot indiscriminately at Ogbe-Ijoh at their will, which the DSS, the Nigeria army, the police and other security agencies are aware of.

To this end, Governor Okowa should call on his adopted political son Jite Brown to order.

Signed for: Ijaw Youth Council (IYC)

How Tompolo Tantita Security Company Boost Oil Production for FG

How Tompolo Tantita Security Company Boost Oil Production for FG

By Kagbala Ezekiel

Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd is currently the reference point to boost Nigeria's oil economy. The company's recent activities have resulted in increased volume of crude oil production and biggest gain for the Federal and States Government of Nigeria.

The Federal Government, Nigeria Navy and Tompolo’s company Tantita security service Nigeria Ltd deserve unreserved accolades for taking the bull by the horns and answering the clarion call to tackle offshore oil theft, thus saving the environment from further pollution and degradation.

Successes recorded in the crude oil production is sequel to the signing of the pipeline surveillance contract with Tantita. This has continued to  promote the development of both human capital and infrastructure of this country.

Initially, Oil companies have complained about spending so much money to fix pipelines when they are vandalized, this has added to the cost of production and reduces what gets to the Federal Government for development.
Currently oil companies are enjoying increased and improved oil production and related services with support from communities who are now beneficiaries of the security job across the Niger Delta region.

Sustained Security of Oil Facilities in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria through Tantita is the only productive means of ensuring improvement in the nation’s capacity to earn income to fund development, and reducing borrowing, in all our oil wealth should be harnessed to uplift the nation and unite the people.

The government should as a matter of utmost importance set-up a legislative instruments and policies that will sustain the gains recorded so far.

Tantita security beyond supporting the nation’s capacity to earn income to funding development,  Nigerians, fishermen, women farmers in the Niger Delta can now enjoy a remediated environment with oil pollution being reduced to the barest minimum.

Chairman of Tantita Security Service Nigeria Ltd, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo and the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Limited, Chief Kestin Pondi, deserve a national award for galvanizing the security contract to benefit and empower youths, women, civil society, communities, media organisations, traditional rulers and stakeholders in the Niger Delta.

For the first time in Nigeria history, all Niger Delta people are ready to support the protection of oil installations in the Niger Delta.

23-Yr- Old Lady Dies, 4 Days after Hip Surgery in Lagos

23-Yr- Old Lady Dies, 4 Days after Hip Surgery in Lagos

Lagos _____ A 23-years old girl, Destiny Benjamin, has been reported dead four days after a botched hip surgery popularly known as Brazilian Butt Lift, BBL, at Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Lagos.

Various social media platforms have been awash with the viral video of the unsuccessful surgery procedure since her death.

Confirming the development, the owner of the Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Dr Ogbe Omoruyi, where the surgery took place, denied the allegation that the lady died in the hospital during the surgery.

Omoruyi, who spoke to Vanguard, explained that the deceased underwent the surgery on 8th, March 2023, and had complained of difficulty in breathing before she was referred to the Genesis Specialists hospital, Ikeja GRA, Lagos State, where she gave up the ghost.

Omoruyi who is also a Plastic surgeon and owner of the facility further told Vanguard that the deceased was 23 years old and not 20 years.
He said: “She is a 23-years old girl according to what she wrote on the document. She had a surgery and after that, she was fine, her surgery went well. I can show you in our case note to show that everything was fine, however, after days, she was having difficulty breathing. We placed her on oxygen and she was stabilised before we referred her to an Intensive care unit, which is 10 minutes away from our facility.

“Unfortunately as we all know, surgery has its own risk, and if you ask any professional doctor or surgeon who knows about life consumptions and tractions, it is very easy to think that she could have fat embolism or clot embolism, but she has difficulty breathing.

“A very important investigation was done, and that was how the investigation was called CT pulmonary angiogram this can detect any clot that is present within the pulmonary system unfortunately, she suffered this condition but she was not pulmonary assort and that makes us begin to wonder what it could have been, because from the findings of the investigation, a different diagnosis was raised after the embolism, and the results came out based after she did the test.

“The test was done in the facility where she was referred to, when she got there and went for the test, the investigation was done and the report, I didn’t even get to know about the report. It was done at a different facility, however, we maintained a relationship with the facility and when I was informed and showed the results, it was said that she didn’t have an embolism.

“Her cousin, Sunset, was with her after her surgery.

They went around because they were together. She came here to see her and they took pictures together, moving around the clinic compound two days later. This is to let you know that she was fine after the surgery.

“ Unfortunately, an autopsy hasn’t been done; I don’t know if the family is going to consent to that, I mean the autopsy to see the exact cause of her death.”

Contrary to social media reports that the medical clinic recorded five deaths in a year, Ogbe said only two deaths have been recorded in the clinic, noting that it happened in the year 2018 and 2021.

He said: “This can be verified under the Local Government because all Local governments have Primary Health centres where practitioners give reports on the death toll. So, we have only two recorded deaths.”

When the Lagos State spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin was contacted, he said: “To the best of my knowledge, I am not aware of the incident, the families of the bereaved have neither reported to the police authority.”

However, efforts to contact the Genesis Specialist Hospital, proved abortive as the person who answered Vanguard’s call at press time said he did not know what happened.

PAP Partners with NIMASA to Engage Amnesty Delegates_Ndiomu

PAP Partners with NIMASA to Engage Amnesty Delegates_Ndiomu

Lagos—Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Major General Barry Ndiomu (rtd), has implored the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for a workable and sustained partnership towards creating opportunities for teeming youths in the Niger Delta region.

Ndiomu who made the request on Tuesday in Lagos when he visited the Director-General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh at the Maritime House, Apapa, called for more assistance and cooperation from international stakeholders.

He commended the DG and his team for redefining the safety and security of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

“I’m aware of your outstanding achievements, particularly in the obvious reduction of piracy on the Gulf of Guinea,” Ndiomu said.

Informing the NIMASA DG of his agenda for the Amnesty Programme, he said, “my vision is to chart a new path for the Amnesty Programme by upholding the principal objectives of government.”
He continued, “As well as bringing innovative ideas, setting a new management structure of wealth creation for the teeming youths, instead of depending on monthly stipends, to pave way for a more prosperous future.”

Ndiomu noted that in the maritime domain, the PAP has trained a large number of youths across institutions in the world in various specializations, some of which include deep sea diving, underwater welding, marine engineering and many more professional training.

He regretted that after these trainings, many of them remain unemployed.

The PAP boss further sought the possibility of the establishment of a Coordinating Secretariat between PAP and NIMASA to drive further conversations.

“We are looking at technical support from NIMASA, job placement opportunities in NIMASA for our qualified delegates,” he added.

In his response, Dr. Jamoh stated that the maritime industry in Nigeria is large enough to sustainably engage the teeming youths, noting that there are enormous opportunities in the industry that youths can take advantage of to generate foreign earnings.

The DG stated that the meeting between both agencies is apt and remains a wakeup call on the need to collaborate efforts, as both agencies are closely related.

He recalled that in 2021 when he visited the Amnesty Office in Abuja, there was an agreement to form a Joint Board Meeting to drive more conversations for collaboration.

He equally noted that this is a critical time for NIMASA and PAP to have a robust relationship, adding that “the international community is already commending Nigeria for the successes recorded in addressing maritime insecurity in the country”.

“Both the Nigerian government and international committee are watching to see if the tempo can be sustained,” he said.

Jamoh thus suggested that to sustain the current tempo, it is important to fully empower and reintegrate beneficiaries of the Amnesty Programme into the society.

He informed that NIMASA has trained over 4,000 Nigerians internationally under the Nigerian Seafarers Development Programme, majority of whom are from the Niger Delta region

President-elect, Tinubu to Returns to Nigeria on Monday after a month rest

President-elect, Tinubu to Returns to Nigeria on Monday after a month rest

Exactly 35 days to his inauguration on May 29, the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, will arrive in Nigeria tomorrow, Monday April 24, after a one-month rest in France.

Tinubu left the country for France on Tuesday, March 21 to rest and plan the transition programme ahead of his inauguration on May 29.

One of his loyalists confirmed that the president-elect would arrive in the country on Monday evening, barring any unforeseen circumstances. “Asiwaju is coming back on Monday. He will arrive Monday evening.”

His Media Office had in a statement in March, explained that he travelled to France to rest and plan his transition programme after a very exhaustive campaign and election season. The president-elect had left the country through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

According to the statement, the president-elect decided to take a break after the hectic campaign and election season to rest in Paris and London, preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and the Ramadan Fasting.

The statement also added that while away, the president-elect would also use the opportunity to plan his transition programme. “He has directed all the senior aides and campaign staff to also go and observe a short rest. He is expected back in the country soon. We enjoin the media to stop publishing rumours and unsubstantiated claims and to always seek clarifications from our office,” his media office reportedly said.

On his return to the country, the president-elect is expected to hit the ground running to address certain issues that would ensure effective take-off of his government on inauguration on May 29.

One of such issues is the zoning of National Assembly leadership which has polarised the two chambers of the parliament along regional and religious lines.

While the South-west will emerge as the new kingmaker, the current kingmaker, the North-west, is seeking compensation in the new dispensation for delivering the highest votes to the president-elect.

To this end, the incoming lawmakers from the zone have eyes on the Senate President, a development, which is bringing them on a collision with their colleagues from both the South-east, who are crying due to perceived marginalisation, and the South-south that lays the golden egg.
Both the South-east and South-south are laying claim to the Senate Presidency to ensure the emergence of a Christian Senate President and balance the same-faith presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The emergence of a Senate President from the North-west would create a Muslim Senate President, which would be unacceptable to the South-east and the South-south, given the fact that both the president-elect and the vice president-elect are Muslims.

The position of the Speaker of the House of Representatives is also in contention. Tinubu is expected to rally the leaders of his party and the members-elect of the two chambers of the National Assembly to resolve these issues by zoning the positions of the principal officers of the parliament to balance regional and religious interests.

The president-elect is also expected to use the next 35 days to assembly a competent team that will form his cabinet to ensure smooth takeoff after his inauguration.

It took President Muhammadu Buhari roughly six months to form a cabinet after his inauguration on May 29, 2015 and it is expected that Tinubu will not make the same mistake.

Another major challenge facing Tinubu on his return is how to handle the removal of petrol subsidy, which is long overdue, without hurting the organised labour, which had given stringent conditions for the removal of subsidy.

The Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), which came into effect in 2022, provides for the removal of subsidy but the implementation of this aspect of the legislation was suspended for 18 months, which expires in June.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, had on Friday, stated that a lot of consideration was ongoing to ensure that the subsidy removal is given human face.

Tinubu had also vowed to remove subsidy as part of his campaign promises and how he handles it without creating labour crisis is a task he will map out in the coming weeks before his inauguration.

The president-elect will also face the task of ensuring that there is social cohesion by initiating a healing process that will unify Nigerians. Currently, Nigerians are bitterly divided along tribal and religions lines.

One of the ways he will start the healing process is by ensuring that there is equity and fairness in the zoning of the principal offices in the National Assembly. Tinubu will also have to clear himself of the grievous allegations made against him at the election petition court by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, among others.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the APC presidential candidate as the winner of the February 25 presidential election, having polled 8,794,726 votes.

He defeated his closest rivals, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku, and his counterpart in the Labour Party, Obi, who polled 6,984,520 votes and 6,101,533 votes, respectively.

Tinubu had last week submitted 13 names of eminent Nigerians that would make up the Presidential Inauguration Committee ahead of the May 29 inauguration. But the PDP has knocked Tinubu for not appointing anybody from the South-east to his 13-man transition committee.

The submission of the 13 names was in response to a letter by the Presidential Transition Committee (PTC), headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, asking for nominations into the 13 sub-committees under the Inauguration Committee of the council.

The committee was saddled with the task of planning the week-long inauguration activities that will usher in Tinubu and the Vice President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, as president and vice-president of the country, respectively, on May 29.

Tinubu had earlier submitted the names of the Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, and a former Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State, Wale Edun, to the council.

Analysis While Northern Precious Stones are for Few, Southern Oil for All ?

Analysis While Northern Precious Stones are for Few, Southern Oil for All ?

An issue many so called public affairs analysts hardly look at has been the way and manner the exploration of certain minerals are being handled by the Federal Government.

Whereas the lion eyes of the government had always been on oil without catching the so called oil thieves, the same government has continued to look sideways on the exploration of precious stones in many parts of the north.

There was a foreign report few years ago that revealed that foreign currency earnings by precious stones thieves in parts of the north are over enough to settle all the nation’s debts both local and international, but due to where the crime is being committed, government has remained adamant to act for the interest of the entire nation.
Another revelation of the report was that majority of the endless insurgency and banditry are domiciled in areas where these stones are being mined as a strategic security structure to perpetuate the criminality of illegal mining endlessly.

While in the South, people stealing oil are branded oil thieves, in the north, government never agreed that there are illegal mining operations going on not to talk of precious stone thieves.
For instance, Californium, one of the costliest precious stones is currently mined in Gwoza area of Borno State, but the Federal Government has continued to give blind eyes to it. The same thing is happening to illegal gold mining in parts of Zamfara State.
However, the bobble seemed to have burst few days ago as the controversy on whether precious stones are being illegally mined in Zamfara may have been finally laid to rest following arrests of three truckloads of the solid minerals. Otherwise, the Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), reportedly impounded three trucks loaded with precious stones.

The Commandant, Muhammed Muazu who confirmed this at a news briefing in Gusau on Monday, stated that the trucks, carrying precious stones, were intercepted in Gusau on their way to Sokoto as the drivers had no legal documents for security clearance.

The Commandant said: “We have no problem with the drivers or vehicles, rather the owners were to provide the necessary evidence that will permit them to engage in the business.”
According to him, for every person or cooperate body to take part in the transaction of any mineral deposits must meet up with following requirements:

License to possess and purchase minerals, Evidence of Royalty payment, Mineral Title if the Solid mineral is coming from a legal source, Agent movement permit and Mineral buying center certificate.
Muazu maintained that if those documents are not presented, the drivers and whosoever involved would be prosecuted while the truck and its content impounded by the Federal Government as the law stipulates.

He said the trucks impounded and their drivers have an ultimatum of seven days to provide legal documents for engaging in the act else they would be prosecuted.

The commandant warned truck drivers to avoid conveying any mineral resources, except if the owner provides legal documents to them.

He called on the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to sensitize their members on the danger and legal implications of moving mineral resources without necessary documents of the law by the Federal Ministry of Mining and Solid Minerals.

Upon these revelations that translate to pure economic sabotage, there had not been any federal response to the development, quite unlike when oil thieves are caught in Niger Delta.

Gen. Ndiomu Visits EU Office, Seeks Collaboration With PAP

Gen. Ndiomu Visits EU Office, Seeks Collaboration With PAP

As part of more efforts to reposition the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) and improve the lives of ex-agitators in the Niger Delta Region, the PAP Interim Administrator, Major General Barry Ndiomu (rtd) on Wednesday visited the Office of the European Union (EU) in Abuja.

Ndiomu who had a strategic meeting with the EU, solicited institutional and technical support from the EU, especially in the PAP’s proposed Cooperative Scheme that is set to commence.

The Interim Administrator while highlighting how the Cooperative will create sustainable livelihoods for youths in the Niger Delta and make them more self-reliant, recalled that the persistent problem since the laying down of arms which has been how to meaningfully engage the ex-agitators, is the cardinal focus of his administration.

He informed the EU that the figure of existing beneficiaries was reviewed upwards to cover indigenes of impacted communities, adding that over five vocational training centers have been established across the Niger Delta Region, with some at various completion stages of completion.
He noted that the Cooperative Scheme, once fully operational, will discourage ex-agitators from continuously depending on the monthly N65,000 stipends, and look to more sustainable ways of living.

Ndiomu regretted that successive leaderships in the region appear to have applied short-term measures in their approach to tackle the problem of youth restiveness.

Responding, Agnieszka Torres De Oliveira, Politics, Press and Information Officer of the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, acknowledged that the initiatives of the PAP falls in line with the Pillars of the EU, which includes Security, Peace Building and Human Development.

The EU further commended the Ndiomu-led PAP for “seeing through the weaknesses” of the PAP and coming up with innovative measures to address them.

While thanking Ndiomu and his team for a very robust conversation and detailed insights into issues of the Niger Delta, the EU expressed commitment to engage and provide more accessible avenues that will enable the PAP achieve its objectives.

The Interim Administrator of the PAP was accompanied by retired Supreme Court Justice, HRM Francis Tabai, the Ebenanaowei of Tuomo Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, and other senior Officials of the PAP.

The current PAP leadership is rigorously working with other stakeholders to rejuvenate and support the accomplishment of the objectives for which it was established. It has also been engaging a broader political approach to achieving these objectives.

37 Yrs Old Man Discovers Anti-Aging Drug, to be Used 2028

ChatGPT boss Sam Altman has invested $180 million in anti-aging biotech firm

Jeff Bezos invested $3 billion in anti-aging start-up

Pills that can help a person reverse the effects of aging could be on the market in the next five years, according to an expert.

Sam Altman, 37, was revealed to have funded biotech startup Retro BioScience to the tune of $180million last month. He is the latest in a long line of Silicon Valley billionaires to throw their considerable wealth behind the science of aging.

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is reported to have invested $3billion in life-extension startup Altos Labs. PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel invested in the Methuselah Foundation, which has the goal of making ’90 the new 50′.

With all these resources being thrown at curing aging, Andrew Steele, the author of the 2020 book ‘Ageless: The new science of getting older without getting old’, believes pills to prevent aging may be on pharmacy shelves within five years.

He points to existing medications — such as the diabetes tablet metformin – that could be retooled as anti-aging treatments in the ‘very, very near term’.

Steele said: ‘With these billionaires, I’m sure some of them are doing it purely for personal gain — they’ve got all this money and they can’t possibly spend it in a single human lifetime.

‘But… if you’re a savvy investor, you can see that anti-aging medication is a huge business opportunity because the potential market is every living human.

‘I think it’s going to be the biggest revolution in medicine since the discovery of antibiotics — and as a savvy business person, you want to be on the leading edge of that revolution.’
While aging does not directly kill people, older people are at risk of many deadly diseases such as Alzheimer’s, heart disease and cancer.

Has the elixir of youth been sitting on medicine cabinet shelves all this time?

Researchers might have found a way to teach someone’s body to refresh their old blood

Around 100,000 people die from age-related diseases every day, according to the World Health Organization.

Mr Steele says: ‘Aging is the greatest humanitarian challenge of all time.

There are ’20 to 30’ companies developing new drugs known as ‘senolytics’ which kill aging cells in the body, he explained.

In mice, these drugs cause elderly animals to become lively and healthy suddenly.

‘Many of these drugs are drugs that we already understand and use for different purposes, so we don’t have to develop new medications,’ Mr Steele said.

An example of a senolytic treatment is the combination of datasinib, used for chemotherapy, and quercetin, a molecule found in fruits and vegetables.

Used together, they remove aged ‘senescent’ cells responsible for many of the problems associated with aging.

Another potential general anti-aging drug is metformin. First approved in 1994 for type 2 diabetes, the drug has shown promise extending lifespans by improving blood vessel health.

‘Some of those companies are trying to develop new and more effective drugs that could do the same thing better,’ the author said.

‘That’s the sort of thing that’s very, very close to clinical realization. And I’d be shocked if in five years we don’t have some senolytics in the clinic.

‘It probably won’t be for aging at first. It’ll be for a specific disease – and maybe in 10 years, we’ll use it for aging.

‘These things are very, very near term.’

Jeff Bezos’s investment in Altos Labs — the biggest biotechnology company launch of all time — is a longer shot, Steele believes.

The firm specializes finding and developing cell therapies that can halt and eventually reverse the process of aging.

Mr Steele says: ‘This relies on a process called cellular reprogramming. It’s been shown to work on cells in a dish, and there’s some evidence it works in mice – but it’s an incredibly complicated piece of science.

‘It’s like science that seems to have fallen through a wormhole from the future – and even if it does work, do we have the biological applied understanding in the 2020s to turn that into a workable treatment?’

When Altos Labs was announced, Elon Musk quipped on Twitter about the Amazon mogul: ‘If it doesn’t work, he’s gonna sue death!’

With labs launching in America and Cambridge, the company is reputed to pay scientists poached from the world’s top universities salaries of up to a million dollars a year.

Steele says that, realistically, treatments we are likely to see in the near term will extend ‘healthspan’ by dealing with age-related diseases — delaying the onset of problems such as dementia.

Dr Cathy Slack, a biologist from the University of Aston, in the UK, agrees, telling DailyMail.com: ‘The goal is to increase the number of years of healthy lifespan rather than extending the late-life period of poor health.’

She said there are now ‘many’ published studies that show that genetic or environmental changes can extend a healthy lifespan.

She says: ‘Many of the biological systems that have been shown to play a role in healthy aging in these animal models are also present in humans and perform similar functions – so there is every reason to believe that these same processes are impacting on human aging.

‘The ultimate goal is really to try and manipulate these systems during human aging to maintain health and quality of life.’

Dr Slack believes that successful treatments are likely to be a combination of drugs and lifestyle changes – and look holistically at all the diseases that afflict people in later life.

She says: ‘Historically, we have viewed the various diseases associated with older age as distinct entities – so research tends to focus on each one rather than looking at them more holistically together as a direct consequence of biological aging.

‘We already know that there are lifestyle changes that will help to maintain multiple aspects of heath during aging.

‘Exercise, for example. But supplementation with drugs that target multiple physiological parameters of aging could have a huge impact on quality of life for older adults;

......Blames wife In suicide note

A 42-year-old father in Utah, United States, Michael Haight, has committed suicide after killing his five children, wife, and mother-in-law, leaving his family a twisted suicide note in which he confessed he would rather ‘rot in hell’ than deal with his manipulative wife another day.

After being investigated for child abuse, Haight shot his wife, her mother, and their five children, According to DailyMail on Saturday.

The police released the footage of the shooting, showing cops padding through the family’s eerily silent home while their bodies lay inside.

In Haight’s twisted suicide note, he claims his wife, Tausha, drove him to violence. Haight did so despite the fact that investigations revealed that he was the abuser in the family and his wife was the victim.
He wrote, “ This is nonsense and I can’t handle it for one more day. We will not be a burden on society. I kept asking for help and you wouldn’t listen. ‘I would rather rot in hell than to put up with another day of this manipulation and control over me.”

How Kano court orders killing of ‘noisy’ Cock for disturbing neighbors

How Kano court orders killing of ‘noisy’ Cock for disturbing neighbors

A magistrate court in Kano State has ordered the owner of a noisy cockerel to slaughter it or face a penalty.

The court gave the order on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, after two neighbours of the owner of the bird, filed a complaint with the court.

They claimed the bird’s relentless loud crows disturbs their sleep and the peace of neighbourhood.

The court located at Gidan Murtala ordered Isyaku Shu’aibu, the owner, to slaughter his bird.
One of the plaintiffs, Yusuf Muhammed, of Ja’en quarters of Kano’s metropolis told the court that the cockerel’s relentless crowing was an infringement of his right to a restful sleep.

While admitting his cockerel’s knack for loud crows, Mr Shu’aibu prayed the court to stay the judgement until Fridayy, April 7, 2023.

He told the court that he had bought the bird to celebrate Good Friday and asked to be given until the Christian holy day before killing it for a family feast.

The magistrate, Halima Wali, hen ruled that Shu’aibu should cage and slaughter the bird on Friday or face a penalty from the court.
