Tantita Releases Press Statement on MT PRAISEL Vessel lntercepted

Tantita Releases Press Statement on MT PRAISEL Vessel lntercepted

PRESS RELEASE BY TANTITA SECURITY SERVICES NIGERIA LIMITED:

On the 3rd of August 2023, news of a vessel the MT PRAISEL intercepted by Tantita broke on a news channel, while investigation were still ongoing, contrary to our corporate practices as would be noted, no official statement from Tantita or any of her directors or top management accompanied the
news story.

While Tantita was investigating the source of the news, on the 4th of August 2023, Naval Headquarters issued a press statement.

We at Tantita have continued our investigation undeterred by press reports, careful not to jeopardize our investigations while conscious of our responsibilities to the public.

The fight against oil theft has been grueling but successful in the last one year and the biggest secret of that success is the extent of collaboration between the community based private surveillance companies particularly, TANTITA and the Government Security Agencies.

Therefore, this is to affirm the partnership with hundreds and thousands of Government Security Agents, officers and men of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps as well as the intelligence agencies who have put their lives at risk in the service of the nation.

For example, barely three weeks ago there was an ambush by oil thieves along the Ahoada axis of
Rivers State where private surveillance personnel and GSAs came under deadly fire and a Nigerian
Army soldier paid the ultimate price, amidst frantic efforts by our private security operations to rush him to medical care. This goes to show the close working relationship between private surveillance operatives and the security agencies.
However on the 1st of August 2023, Tantita received credible intelligence that a vessel which had obtained NMDPRA approval to deliver HPFO from Koko to LAGOS OFFSHORE would be proceeding in the opposite direction. On the 2nd of August 2023 Tantita operatives approached the MT PRAISEL as it made its way through a creek in Delta State off Benin River. On board the vessel were naval personnel, while the Tantita inspection crew included officers and men from the Operation Delta Safe (the inter service task force for fighting crude oil theft, amongst other things in the Niger delta).
The intelligence suggested that the vessel ought to be sailing to Lagos, but the Master of the vessel indicated he was sailing to Bonny.

Tantita requested for the naval clearance and the documentation showed by the Master of the vessel indicated Koko as port of discharge for storage only, there was nothing indicating Bonny as port of discharge in that document. In line with standard procedure, Tantita requested for further clarification from the crew as to the discrepancy between NMDPRA
permit and the naval clearance and permission to take samples of cargo on board. Understandably,
this infuriated the naval personnel on board who requested Tantita personnel to immediately disembark from the vessel. Tantita had no option but to escalate the issue to higher authorities who mandated that the vessel be anchored off Escravos roads for further investigation.
Tantita dispatched her personnel to collect samples from the vessel on the 3rd of August 2023.

Those present at the Dme of collection on the 3rd of August 2023 were the Nigerian Navy, Tantita and the NSCDC. Tantita personnel were still on board the vessel collecting samples when the news broke in the media.

The following day Tantita woke up to the Naval Headquarters’ press statement which appears to indicate that the NMDPRA gave approval to the MT PRAISEL to proceed to Bonny for discharge. We are yet to see that documentation, and as we noted above the Nigerian Navy clearance we saw did not also state Bonny as port of discharge. There are many vessels plying this area but Tantita does not board them, intelligence has to be credible.
In the circumstances, there were reasonable grounds to be suspicious of the movement of MT PRAISEL in the opposite direction from the NMDPRA clearance seen. Contrary to the Naval Headquarters’ press release on the issue of who was present on Thursday the 3rd of August 2023, it was on Friday the 4th of August 2023 that a staff of NMDPRA first came on board to take samples from the cargo holds for laboratory analysis.
While it is our honest belief that the Naval Headquarters’ press statement was actuated by the best moves, clearly there are questions which beg for answers. For example, why is NMDPRA approved port of discharge (Lagos Offshore) different from the Navy clearance (Koko as storage) and why are both different from the port of discharge indicated in the Naval press statement (Bonny)?

In the course of several joint meetngs we have consistently asked for a single clearing house for all approvals so that each agency of government can see what the other is approving/has approved.
We are all aware that unscrupulous elements can take advantage of existng gaps in procedures to clandestinely transport and sell stolen crude and illegally refined products. For example, a truck can load legitimate products at a licensed depot and pass on its papers and license plates to another truck carrying illegal products at a side road and if we rely on the papers alone the illegal cargo with the legitimate papers would beat the system. Same for motor tanker vessels.

At Tantita, it is our resolve that we will not allow a situation where the small fish is chased out of the illegal business only for the big fish to remain in business. A single 10 tonner vessel will do more damage to our economy in a single voyage than 1000 dugout canoes carrying jerrycans. And while the illegality with the dugout canoe is a crime of need, the illegality with the 10 tonner vessel is a crime of greed. Please find attached,

(1) NMDPRA Approval
(2) Naval Clearance.

Just-ln: Tantita security intercepts vessel with suspected stolen crude in Delta

Just-ln: Tantita security intercepts vessel with suspected stolen crude in Delta

Warri _____ Operatives of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited has intercepted a vessel carrying suspected stolen crude in the waters of Delta State.

The interception happened on Wednesday while the 1, 117 tons vessel carrying about 8,100 barrels of crude, was being escorted by some naval officers.

Tanita Security outfit is a private security company owned by Government Ekpemupolo, popularly called Tompolo, an ex-Niger Delta agitator who recently got a contract from the Federal Government to protect oil pipelines.
Operatives of the Tanita Security say the vessel, tagged MT Praisel, was flying a Togolese flag and was being escorted by a Navy boat led by a senior naval commander.

The Tanita operatives said they were met with resistance from the navy boat escorting the vessel and that the naval commander threatened to deal decisively with them. But the private operatives said they refused to back down.

But they eventually contacted the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu and the Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla who authorised them to inspect the vessel.

Upon entrance into the ship, the security company says they noticed that the vessel was authorised to carry products by the navy but did not have any approvals from Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the authority responsible for the regulation of the midstream and downstream petroleum operations in Nigeria, for this said voyage.

The incident comes on the heels of the outcry by the Federal Government that the illegal trade of stolen crude oil inflicts significant economic losses on Nigeria to the tune of N2.3 trillion in 12 months.
It is a loss experts say could impact up to 25% of the nation’s crude oil production. The recent removal of the petrol subsidy has caused nationwide demonstrations by workers’ unions.

Recently, another ex-Niger Delta agitator Asari Dokubo told journalists at the State House after meeting with President Bola Tinubu that some corrupt military officers are involved in the stealing of Nigeria’s crude.

Mulade Hails Gov. Oborevwori for Teachers Recruitment approval

Mulade Hails Gov. Oborevwori for Teachers Recruitment Order

........ Calls for special attention to rural/riverine areas

Warri______ Following the recent approval given by the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for recruitment of teachers, health workers and others into the state’s civil service, a foremost Delta state born human and development advocate, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has commended the decision of the governor as “a right step in the right direction” while also appealing for special attention to rural areas, especially the riverine communities of the state.

Chief Mulade, who is the Ibe Sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in the Warri South-West Local Government Area of the state, made this known on Friday, July 29, 2023, to news men during a chat over the development.

In his words, he said “I want to sincerely commend the executive governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for creating the avenue for employment, which is one of the right steps in the right direction. Asides creating jobs, investing in education is key and one of the best ways to bring development to any society and the governor has shown his commitment to the educational sector through this action, which is very commendable.”

However, the renowned peace ambassador, strongly appeal to those in authorities, "especially the ministry of education and the committees that will be saddled with the responsibilities of executing the decision of the governor to be fair to all qualified Deltans."
He added further that, "The order given by the governor for employment should not be used as a political compensation, neither should it be on ethnic basis, nor constituency project. Rather, it should be done transparently, openly and fairly to all interested Deltans as it dwells on the local government areas according to their needs."

On the area of employment to be based on the needs of local government, Chief Mulade, who is also the National Coordinator of the Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, noted that the rural and riverine areas of the state are really lacking teachers because of the nature of the terrain, and so special attention should be paid to the affected areas, not only in recruiting more teachers there but modalities should be worked out for additional incentive to encourage them for the huge cost of living and transportation in the riverine areas.

“A special attention should be paid to rural areas of the state, especially riverine communities that have been shortchanged from this engagement process. Now that this opportunity has come, we want to strongly appeal that a special attention should be given, particularly to the riverine area that have been starved of teachers," Chief Mulade counseled.

Speaking further he said, “I also urge the people in the rural and riverine areas to apply for this employment opportunity given by our amiable Governor as they are more conversant with the nature of the riverine environment."

Furthermore, the  Environmentalist appeal "to the state government because of the terrain in the rural and riverine areas, that a special incentive should be earmarked to encourage the people in those areas in order to cushion the high level of cost, because that is the only thing that will help and encourage people to take up such engagement."

Thanksgiving: Aguariavwodo appreciate Sheriff, Otuaro, Guwor, others for celebrating with him

......As Gov. Oborevwori describes Aguariavwodo as a rare gem, prophet who predicted his governorship in 10yrs ago

Francis Tayor

Warri _____ The Senior Political Adviser (SPA) Delta State, distinguished Senator Sir. Emmanuel Edesiri Aguariavwodo, has extended his heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Delta State Government, especially His Excellency, Rt Hon. Kingsley Esiso, Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi and former Minister of lnformation, Prof. Sam Oyovbaire for the honour and joining him to thank God for his recent appointment.
He made the appreciation on Sunday 30th July, 2023 at Okpare-Olomu in Ughelli South LGA, during the reception party immediately after the Thanksgiving Church Service held at the All Saints Cathedral, Ughelli.

Senator Aguariavwodo further appreciated the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon Johnson Erijo; Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon; Special Adviser on Transportation, Olorogun Jaro Egbo; Chairman Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata; Managing Director DESOPADEC, Chief Festus Ochonogor; members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioner designates, Local Government Council Chairmen, traditional rulers and other  dignitaries too numerous to mention, praying God to cause people to honour and celebrate with them when the need arises, the statement added.
While eulogizing the personality of senator Aguariavwodo, the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has described Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo as a rare gem and a prophet who prophesied his governorship dream in one decade ago.

Oborevwori noted that the celebrant, Aguariavwodo prophesied to him he could run for Governor when he buried his mother in Osubi.

“Senator Aguariavwodo is someone I knew many years ago, and sometimes there are things you say and it will come to pass.

“When I was burying my mother at Osubi Trade Fair complex some years ago, he came and saw the crowd and he said with this crowd you are qualified to contest for Governor.

“He said it over ten years ago in 2013 and that prophesy has come to pass. So when he decided to support me, it is because God wants to fulfil what he has said.”

Oborevwori described Senator Aguariavwodo as a rare gem, who had the opportunity of serving both in the Green and Red Chambers of the National Assembly.

“Not many politicians have the privilege of serving in the Red Chamber and also in the Green Chamber and decided to come down to his State to serve.
“Senator Aguariavwodo belongs to that rare elite group. I congratulate you on this appointment because you are a very humble and respected man and it is my prayer that God will grant you the wisdom to succeed in your new role.”
,
The Governor frowned at the protest by Ewu Community over appointments to the kingdom, noting that appointments were at the discretion of the Governor.

He urged Deltans to join hands with his administration to consolidate the tempo of sustainable development in the State.

He emphasises that some people who are desirous of securing political appointments in his administration may have taken his name to many altars for prayers, adding however, that he was also praying to God for divine direction in giving appointments to people.

“Ughelli South has gotten a Senior Political Adviser, Executive Director DESOPADEC and Commissioner. After giving you a project of over N20bn, you are still coming to protest?

“As Governor, my local government has gotten just one appointment which is the Commissioner-designate because I have promised Deltans I want to be Governor for all,” he stated.

He appreciated Archbishop Cyril Odutemu and the church for their support during the elections and called for continuous prayers for his administration to succeed.

Earlier in his sermon, Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Bendel and Bishop of Ughelli Diocese (Anglican Communion), The Most Rev’d Cyril Odutemu in his sermon titled “Be strong in the Lord,” said Christians were confronted with several spiritual warfares and charged leaders to be strong “as leadership is a constant struggle to get things right in the interest of the people.”

The Cleric said leaders must demonstrate strength and uncommon courage in the face of daunting challenges.

“Whatever you do in offering advice to the Governor, you should be adequately guided by the truth; don’t allow your garment of righteousness to be stained,” the highly celebrated Anglican cleric said, even as he urged the Governor to keep to his promises and to always stick to the truth.
The thanksgiving service was attended by the immediate past Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; his Deputy, Rt Hon. Arthur Akpowowo; State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Kingsley Esiso; Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. NNPCL discovers another illegal pipelines, 162 refineries in N/Delta

NNPCL discovers another illegal pipelines, 162 refineries in N/Delta

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has said it discovered 162 illegal pipeline connections and illegal refineries in the Niger Delta, mostly in Bayelsa in the past week.

In a documentary by the oil company shared via its social media ‘X’ handle on Wednesday,  NNPCL said 93 illegal pipeline connections and 69 illegal refineries were discovered from Aboa and Gbokoda between July 15 and 21, and had been destroyed.
It noted this as part of its fight against crude oil theft in the country.

“War on crude oil theft: 93 illegal pipeline connections discovered and 69 illegal refineries destroyed in the Niger Delta in the past week,” the company wrote.

According to NNPCL, the illegalities were discovered using its maritime intelligence system.

“30 wooden boats used in carrying stolen crude oil were confiscated in the past week, with some in Gbokodo, and five cases of oil spill recorded in the deep blue waters,” it said.
The PUNCH had reported how a militant group, a self-acclaimed Niger Delta militant group, Creek Reform Warriors threatened to resume attacks on major oil facilities in the region.

In a statement, the group particularly threatened to attack facilities operated by the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, over alleged unjust sacking of some workers in Forcados terminal.

Leader of the group, General Igbokuro Tinowei had demanded reinstatement of all workers from Ogulagha and Odimodi communities, who according to him, were sacked unjustly by SPDC in 2019.

He claimed that the IOC had promised to recall the sacked workers immediately after the COVID-19 pandemic, but serially defaulted; while warning the management of SPDC to reinstate the said workers within two weeks or face dire consequences of brutal attacks.

Amidst the uproar, the NNPCL said the Federal Government would renegotiate the country’s production quota in the ongoing OPEC+ cuts by November.
