THE BRUISERS AND THE BRUISED ON THE JUDGEMENT DAY

THE BRUISERS AND THE BRUISED ON THE JUDGEMENT DAY

BY: Ekanpou Enewaridideke

In every struggle there are bruises and blessings as are bruisers and brutes.
The bruised are not only those bruised by bruisers
The bruisers and the brutes are as well the bruised.
The bruised are the losers but the bruised are not the only losers.

The true losers are those who sold and lost their integrity in the game.
The circle of the bruised is a treeless ocean, wide and multi-coloured in look; yet, echoed here are not the bruised of Achebe's Anthills of the Savannah.
Only the bruised known to the bruisers and the brutes are echoed here.

You may not like it.
You may like it, but
there must be judgement after everything.
So we went and waited for the first judgement,
Minds more on the held waiting second sacred judgement.

Like everyone we parroted our passion for you ,good-intentioned.
Only bruises and brutes came for us on the harvest day, the blessings waiting nearby with lips hermetically sealed, awaiting the second sacred judgement.

A loser always a brother of bruises and brutes - brutes that bring bombs to brutalise the bruised even after the claimed harvest.
It pays karmically when bruises and brutes are held at bay after the harvest.
The bruised, bruisers and the brutes must be partners in the politics of smiles after success and loss because tomorrow is befogged ...

The loser a brother of bruises and brutalities on the boat in the brook.
The loser bombarded by mouth-bombs bundled to denigrate the diminished.

The loser deafened into  a dance of denial of the denigration brought by the diminishment.
For the loser bombs begin a dance of denial detonated from dawn to dusk until the cycle ends its orbital journey when joys lose their charm in cycle-cessation.

It is always the story of denigratory dance whenever a manatee goes upland.
It is always the story of denigratory dance whenever a whale goes aground.
It is always the story of denigratory dance whenever a forester is stung by wasps.
It is always the story that denigratory dancers do dance but only once and no more, waiting for another song yet to be encored and played.

Bruises bring brutes who bomb the bruised with mouth-bombs fluttering triumphal wings.
Bruises bring brightness and benediction too because the loser is the bridegroom of bruises, brutes and blessings

Too blind to the cosmic bell we parroted our way into bruises
Too blind the brutes and the mouth-bombers bite the bruised with claims of tomorrow already claimed
The bruised and the brutal bruisers are all blind in this game only ruled by the cosmic bell.
So the bruised and the bruisers must be the watchmen over their words denied a seat in the cosmic kingdom
Still it must be cast like stone that a loser is a bridegroom of bruises and blessings hung cosmically until it is another dawn...

Barricaded the bruised now  stands.
For the bruised, barricade is the barricade to new paths beyond barricade.
The awaited second sacred judgement is the supreme for the bruised so vilely  barricaded in a world that holds its inhabitants no malice .

Even in a world that holds its inhabitants no malice...
The true losers are those who sold and lost their integrity in the game, not the bruised, the bruisers and the loser.

Don't play politics with Amnesty office, lYC cautions president Tinubu

Don't play politics with Amnesty office, lYC caution president Tinubu

Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide

Press Statement

13/02/2024

Coordinator Of The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), IYC Accuses Tinubu Over  Political Alienation Of Ijaws In His Government

1. The Ijaw Youth (IYC) Worldwide has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of suffocating the Ijaw people in his Government.

2. It is no longer a news that the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) that was established in 2009 by late President Umaru Musa Yara'Adua as a panacea for peace in the region comes with a heavy burden and huge sacrifice made by the Ijaw people.

3. Ijaw communities and Kingdoms were leveled to the ground, precious lives that could have become pillars in Ijaw, Niger Delta and Nigeria at large were lost, properties worth billions of naira were also destroyed and both the old and young spent days in the deep forests of our villages which later comes with a lot of health challenges.
4. While the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide will not join issues with other  tribes in the Niger Delta region as neighbours, we must state that our underdevelopment as a region is being faced by all ethnic groups in Niger Delta and the foundation of the IYC via the Kaiama Declaration in December 11th 1998 clearly state our commitment to work with other ethnic nationalities in the region, the Ijaws have relentlessly championed this cause even at the detriment of our lives.

5. Today, the Ijaws constitute about 98% of the Presidential Amnesty Programme just as ijaw communities occupy almost 70% of all oil and  gas resources within and no other tribe in the Niger Delta region can ever claim to be more accommodating,  patriotic to other ethnic groups than the Ijaw people in the Niger Delta struggle for liberation of the whole region bearing in mind our development is collective and challenges similar.

6. However, the Ijaws have overtime championed minority rights movement in Nigeria. In 1966 our late hero Maj. Gen. Jasper Adaka Boro declared the Niger Delta republic for whose sake he laid his life, till date Boro is regarded as champion of minority rights movement in Nigeria. Boro fought for a united Nigeria until he was killed during the Nigeria Civil war in May 9th 1968.

7. The Ijaws also fought for the establishment of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), as we speak, every tribe in Niger Delta is enjoying the NDDC.

8. However, the 2009 agitation of the Ijaws also gave birth to the establishment of the Niger Delta Ministry under late President Umaru Musa Yara'Adua that is now benefiting all tribes in the region.

9. In view of all these, if we are to check, in all of these, it is the Ijaw areas considering our predominantly riverine terrain are the least people to have benefitted from these Ministry and Commissions compared to our sister tribes which we are not against in any way.

10. It is at the risk of repetition that we are reiterating that while we will not banter words with our sister tribes that are suffering same issues of deprivation and neocolonization owing to our minority status in Nigeria, we are reiterating our call to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to make the mistake of appointing non-Ijaw as the Amnesty Programme Coordinator.

11. The Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) is not like any other Ministry or Commission like the NDDC or Niger Delta Ministry, the price the Ijaws solely paid for the establishment of the PAP is too big a price for a people to pay. The Ijaws have been magnanimous in accommodating other tribes in the  Programme so far, hence we are confident that President Bola Tinubu will not do the mistake of appointing Non-Ijaw as its coordinator.

12. The Ijaw Youth Council have been keenly following political developments of the Tinubu led Federal Government and so far we are beginning to see that the government is exhibiting high level of hatred against the Ijaw people and we will not continue to keep quiet forever, we cannot continue to talk about peace when the necessary ingredients of peace such as fairness, equity and justice is not there.

13. Before our very eyes, Adokiye Tombomieye was removed from NNPCL and was replaced with someone from another tribe in Niger Delta, similar thing happened in the Local Content Development Board.

14. Few months ago, the Tinubu led Federal Government of Nigeria surreptitiously sold NIGERIAN AGIP OIL COMPANY to its crony Oando without following the normal processes. Our people are not holding any key offices in any of the MDAs.
15. Again they are trying to collaborate with the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria to sell the company to a Consortium owned by cronies of the Federal Government of Nigeria without cleaning our environment, an evil the IYC has spoken against and will follow up to the later until the Ijaws and Niger Deltans are given the rights of first refusal. Our people must be included otherwise this purported sale will not work.

16. Meanwhile, the IYC is sounding a note of warning to some elements masquerading as ethnic bigots to choose their words wisely while addressing the press. You can quietly make your points while agitating for your ethnic groups, we don't have a problem with them but talking out of point is what the IYC is taking exception from. What has the IYC call on Tinubu to thread carefully in the PAP matter got to do with former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, INC, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited that some Youth leaders are talking about? The reference to the above is not in tandem and a complete deviation from the subject matter.

17. There is no connection between the Amnesty Programme and that of the Pipeline Surveillance Security Contract, maybe perhaps some people don't have sufficient knowledge about the Surveillance contract that Tantita is not the only firm handling the Surveillance job in the Niger Delta region. There were other companies before Tantita and even now, other companies are still there Securing facilities in designated areas, so why always mentioning Tantita?. Only misinformed elements will not be aware that Tantita has perfectly done a clean job by improving the oil revenue of the federation.

18. Finally, the Ijaw Youth Council hope that this critical message from the  Ijaw  people gets to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other critical stakeholders in the polity. Whilst we are committed for a peaceful and united Nigeria, the Government of the day must be fair to our people.

Signed:

Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill, Spokesman Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide.

Mulade calls for Traditional Rulers Engagement to Fight lnsecurity

Mulade calls for Traditional Rulers Engagement to Fight lnsecurity

...... Says insecurity is a Threat to Nigeria's corporate existence

Abuja_____ A renowned Nigeria global peace ambassador Comrade Mulade Sheriff has proffer solutions to the insecurity challenges in Nigeria. Read below full text of the press briefing held on 7th February, 2024 at FCT, Abuja.

*PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE SECURITY CHALLENGES AND THE NEED FOR GOVERNMENT TO INVOLVE THE TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST INSECURITY, AND TO FOSTER ECONOMIC STABILITY IN NIGERIA*

Good day ladies and gentlemen.

All protocols observed.

In view of the high level of insecurity in Nigeria in recent time, accentuated by the spate of killings and kidnappings across the country. I, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff, the National Coordinator of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, hereby call on the Government at all levels, and state apparatuses to consider the role of traditional institutions in the nation's security architecture, in the fight against insecurity, so as to foster national economic growth and stability.
As the National Coordinator of CEPEJ, a foremost civil society organization with over twenty years experience and impeccable track record across the nation on peacebuilding and peaceful coexistence, human rights protection, effective security intelligence gathering, and environmental justice advocacy, I dare say that one of the sure means to fight and end insecurity in Nigeria is to engage the traditional rulers with the responsibility of ensuring that their respective domains are totally free from insecurity issues.

It is important to note here that traditional rulers, as custodians of culture and traditions in their kingdoms, are more familiar and abreast with their domains and environments. This places them in a strategic position as leaders that can effectively take charge and control of their areas. Therefore, they should be given the responsibility  to protect lives and property in their domains in collaboration with security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

I strongly believe that such collaboration will go a long way towards bringing the security challenges under control. It is also worthy of note that bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements hide in a locality/place, within the domain of a traditional ruler, where they carry out their nefarious activities which have become an international embarrassment to Nigeria. The insecurity issue equally affects the country's economic growth.
In the fight against insecurity, traditional rulers, as stakeholders, should be given the authority to also secure their kingdoms against political violence. This means that security votes should be allocated to them, as they are in better positions to fight against insecurity in their kingdoms if the country's leadership truly wants to end insecurity in the country. In other words, traditional institutions in the country should be strengthened if Nigeria must be insecurity-free so as to achieve a stable economy that will attract international and local investors.

The Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, should take proactive steps to ensure that traditional rulers are at the forefront of the fight against insecurity nationwide. Efforts should be made to bring them on board and give them the opportunity to play their parts towards rescuing our dear country from criminals, and restoring peace in line with Mr. President's Renewed Hope Agenda. No price is too much to pay for peace.

Beside giving traditional rulers the power to fight insecurity, if the country must progress economically, all hands must be on deck because security is a collective responsibility and everyone's business. Ensuring security should not be left for only security agencies. The good thing here is that empowering the traditional rulers makes it easier to involve everybody since almost all Nigerians respect their traditional rulers. Our traditional institutions have long been the custodians of our cultural heritage and the guardians of community cohesion. Their wisdom, authority, and grassroots presence uniquely position them to play a pivotal role in addressing the multifaceted challenges confronting our nation today.

The recent surge in crime, particularly kidnapping, poses a grave threat to the safety and security of our citizens. Despite the efforts of law enforcement agencies, the perpetrators continue to operate with impunity, wreaking havoc on innocent lives and instilling fear in our communities. It is evident that a holistic approach, which leverages the expertise and influence of traditional rulers, is essential to effectively combatting this scourge.
Furthermore, the issue of unemployment remains a significant obstacle to our nation's progress and development. With a large youth population facing limited job opportunities, there is a growing sense of disillusionment and frustration that can easily be exploited by nefarious elements. By empowering traditional institutions to collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders, we can devise comprehensive strategies to create employment opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, and foster economic empowerment at the grassroots level.

Additionally, the phenomenon of youth restiveness demands urgent attention and proactive intervention. Unaddressed grievances, marginalization, and a lack of avenues for meaningful engagement are fueling discontent and social unrest in various parts of the country. Traditional leaders, as trusted mediators and community influencers, possess the cultural capital and moral authority needed to engage disaffected youth, promote dialogue, and facilitate reconciliation processes that address underlying grievances and promote social cohesion.

Mr. President, I urge you to consider the invaluable contribution that traditional institutions can make in addressing these pressing challenges. By forging strong partnerships between the government and traditional rulers, we can harness the collective wisdom, resources, and legitimacy of our diverse communities to foster peace, prosperity, and progress for all Nigerians.

Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. I remain hopeful that with decisive leadership and concerted action, we can overcome these challenges and build a brighter future for our beloved nation.

Government at all levels, therefore, should adopt a strong working relationship with traditional rulers by collaborating/communicating with, as well as commending them towards ending insecurity, and stabilizing the growth of our economy to truly reflect Nigeria as the biggest economy in, and giant of Africa.

Let me reiterate that continued insecurity is an embarrassment to Nigeria on the international scene and the country is sitting on a keg of gun powder. Therefore, government must rise up and end this challenges once and for all.

Mr President, it is imperative at this critical time to draw your attention to the Five deadly monster indicators of insecurity in Nigeria which must be proactively and genuinely addressed now to save our dear Nation, Nigeria.

(a)Political Insecurity

(b) Religious Insecurity

(c) Economic Insecurity

(d) Traditional/Communal Insecurity

 (f) Criminal/Unemployment

Counstitutional Amendment :

Therefore, I propose that we consider a constitutional amendment to formally include traditional rulers in our nation's government structure. By granting them a formal role in governance,
we can harness their insights and expertise to develop more effective strategies for crime prevention and community policing.

Furthermore, empowering traditional rulers with official responsibilities can help foster greater accountability and transparency at the grassroots level, strengthening the bond between government institutions and the communities they serve.

I understand that any constitutional amendment is a complex process that requires careful consideration and deliberation between the Executive, legislative arm of government.
However, I believe that the potential benefits of integrating traditional rulers into our governance framework far outweigh the challenges.

In conclusion, Mr. President, I urge you to prioritize this matter and initiate the necessary steps to explore the inclusion of traditional rulers in our government structure. By working together with these respected leaders, we can take meaningful strides towards creating safer and more secure communities for all our citizens.

I strongly believe that traditional rulers are able to, if empowered by law and adequately provided with the necessary wherewithals, to protect their domains, in collaboration with security agencies. This will complement government's efforts at all levels to nip insecurity in the bud and end this ugly menace that has ravaged Nigeria deteriorating international reputation.

As a patriotic and peace loving Nigerian. I wish to strongly appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to as matter of national urgency to take a decisive positive action against insecurity challenges that as continually threatening our corporate existence as a Nation and if must end Political  and Religious insecurity that have ravaged our dear country. The leadership led by our indefatigable President must genuinely adopt security for all approach rather than security for one call.

Thank you for your audience.
