KING OPOROMO'S APPOINTMENT: AN EFFORT TO RUBBISH AND DIMINISH HIM AND THE KEREBIRI-MEIN KINGDOM-By: Fun-ororo Narebor

KING OPOROMO'S APPOINTMENT: AN EFFORT TO RUBBISH AND DIMINISH HIM AND THE KEREBIRI-MEIN KINGDOM-By: Fun-ororo Narebor

The Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency Sen. Douye Diri in nominating the traditional ruler of Kerebiri-Mein Kingdom as a commissioner in the nomenclature of Chief Godspower Oporomo is derogatory and a calculated attempt to rubbish and diminish our traditional kingdom and king.

This appointment is not only shameful but also a clear sabotaging of the greater interests of Kerebiri-Mein Kingdom. Would our King now bow before the members of the House of Assembly in the screening? If yes, then the whole Kerebiri-Mein Kingdom would be subjected to the loyalty of members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. What an irony?

I wish to advise the nominee, HRM Godspower Oporomo, who is well known for his integrity and royal tendencies, to reject and/or recommend a capable person to the Governor for such appointment.

We cannot allow our kingdom to be ridiculed because of a mere commissioner appointment. No sentiment attached. This is my personal opinion though.

Delta Party Politics: Itsekiri Delegation Meet Ijaw PDP Leaders Over State Chairmanship

Delta Party Politics: Itsekiri Delegation Meet Ijaw PDP Leaders Over State Chairmanship

.... As the ljaws declined their plea for support, insists to produce the next state party chairman

By: Johnson Atoukudu

Warri ____ ln a significant political gathering held at the residence of former Minister for Police Affairs, Alawei Bozimo, top politicians from the Ijaw and Itsekiri ethnic groups met to discuss the upcoming PDP State Chairmanship. Despite cordial exchanges and traditional presentations, the meeting ended in disagreement.

Dr. Oritshejafor, leading the Itsekiri delegation, emphasised their intention to recognise and collaborate with the Ijaws, acknowledging their shared political heritage and challenges in the riverine area.

The crux of the discussion was the candidacy for the PDP State Chairman, recently zoned to Delta South by the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sherrif Oborevwori, without specifying the exact ethnic group. This ambiguity led the Itsekiri delegation to visit various groups, including the Ijaws and Isokos, to garner support.

However, responding on behalf of the Ijaw PDP leaders, Rt. Hon. Franc Enekorogha said the Ijaws have already gotten a candidate whose name they won’t share at the moment and expressed their inability to support the Itsekiri request due to their commitment to having the next Party Chairman, who had received unanimous backing from the Ijaws.

But he concluded by thanking the Itsekiris for their visit and promising they would hear from the Ijaws.

But, after much investigation, it reveals that Chief Emman Amgbaduba, a former PDP Delta South Senatorial District Chairman and the immediate past Commissioner for Oil and Gas, might likely be chosen by the Ijaw PDP Leaders as one who can guide the party and advance the interests of Ijaw

The Itsekiri delegation, confronted with this united front, departed without securing the desired support, resulting in a deadlock. The Ijaws consolidated position contrasts sharply with the Itsekiri’s multiple candidates, highlighting internal divisions within the latter.

PAP: ljaw National Leader, Pa E.K.Clark Urges IPF to Standby Otuaro

Abuja____ Elder statesman, Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, National leader of the Pan Niger Delta Development Forum, PANDEF, has tasked the Ijaw Publishers Forum  (IPF) with a mandate to protect and defend Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the Presidential Amnesty Programme, administrator, to ensure the successful implementation of his initiatives.

Pa Clark, a respected leader in the Niger Delta region and Ijaw national leader urged the IPF to safeguard Dr. Otuaro from distractions and enemies of the region, who may seek to hinder his progress.

The Niger Delta foremost leader gave the charge when a delegation of the Ijaw Publishers' Forum visited him in his Abuja residence to discuss burning issues in the Ijaw nation and Niger Delta region.

Clark emphasised the importance of Dr. Otuaro's good initiatives in advancing the Presidential Amnesty Programme, which has brought hope and transformation to the lives of many beneficiaries in the region.

The elder statesman also gave reason why he opposed the appointment of non-Ijaw as the coordinator of the amnesty programme.

He stated emphatically that 95% of the beneficiaries of the amnesty programme are from Ijaw extraction and being the fact that Ijaws were the reason for the establishment of the programme, he would not allow non- indigene to be appointed as a coordinator of the presidential amnesty programme.

While speaking, Clark reiterated that this was the only time Nigerian government had gotten it right by appointing a core member of the struggle from the Delta State to oversaw the presidential amnesty programme since inception of the programme.
He further commended president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for doing what is noble by appointing Dr Otuaro as the PAP administrator, urging him to ignore all blackmails and mischief against Dr Otuaro, describing such blackmailers as not patriotic sons of Niger Delta.

The statement reads, "IPF as Ijaw editors-in-Chief and Publishers, you have a mandate to protect, defend and watch over Dr Otuaro against all detractors and mischievous attacks. Be close to him and support his good polices and programmes to enable him discharge his duty unhindered"

Following this mandate, the IPF has reaffirmed its commitment to the protection and support for Dr. Otuaro, who is dedicated to improving the lives of the beneficiaries of the amnesty programme and advancing the Niger Delta region.
