Just-ln: How ljaw youths exposes international oil thieves blackmail campaign against Tompolo, Kyari and Otuaro in New York

Just-ln: How ljaw youths exposes international oil thieves blackmail campaign against Tompolo, Kyari and Otuaro in New York

The Ijaw Youths Network has raised the alarm over the intensified blackmail of huge international proportion against the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited, Mr Mele Kyari, and the Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro.

The IYN, in a statement by its President, Frank Ebikabo, and the Secretary, Federal Ebiaridor, on Sunday called attention to a well-funded blackmail by a venomous cabal of oil thieves who are uncomfortable with gains of the campaign against oil theft being spearheaded by Tantita Security Services and the security outfits.

The IYN leadership was reacting to a video of a sponsored protest in front of the UN headquarters in New York, United States by a rogue group making outright false criminal allegations against Tompolo, Kyari and Otuaro.

The IYN called on the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and others entrusted with the nation’s security to ensure a thorough investigation of those behind the blackmail and bring them to justice in the interest of national security.

Ebikabo and Ebiaridor also urged the President, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu to be resolute in sustaining the reversal of the evils of oil theft against Nigeria and her citizens.

The IYN stressed that oil thieves and their operatives who are armed with billions of ill-gotten resources are funding this recurrent attack on the Tompolo, Kyari and Otuaro.

The duo insisted that a virulent cabal of oil thieves with a vast network across international boundaries is on the  rampage to orchestrate this campaign which attacks the economy of the country and its leadership.

The IYN stated further that the oil thieves are pulling resources together with their international collaborators to undermine the President, national security and the nation’s economy.
The group said that it is not unexpected that the deadly cabal that almost ruined the economy of the country by stealing billions of petro dollars from the country would not give up their lucrative crime without a fight.

The IYN said that the achievement of the Tinubu Administration which has been able to attain 1.8m barrels of crude oil per day, after serious efforts into the battle against oil thieves should be protected from this influential, deadly gang.

The IYN added further some of those fighting Tompolo, Kyari and Otuaro are those who pressed to be appointed Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme without success.

The Ijaw youths groups said that the antecedents of Otuaro and his capacity to deepen consultations and sustenance of peace in the Niger Delta might be hurting those behind the campaign of calumny in the region.

The group called on all sister organizations in the Niger Delta to support the campaign against oil theft, Tantita Security Service Limited, the NNPCL and the PAP leadership.

“We are shocked at the extent to which this deadly cabal of oil thieves can go to orchestrate a campaign of calumny against hardworking people carrying out their lawful responsibilities in the Niger Delta.

Of course, nobody expects a group of extremely wealthy, connected and influential people who has been involved in oil theft, stealing billions for years to go away without resistance.

“The show of shame in front of the UN headquarters is a most reprehensible attack on the country image, the President, national security and our economy.

The unpatriotic characters are conniving with enemies of Nigeria in their criminal bid to bring back the dark days of oil theft and its impact on the nation’s economy.

We call on the President, to be firm in sustaining what is good for Nigeria. Tompolo, and Tantita have shown that it is not impossible to stop the menace of oil theft as shown by the daily production of oil to 1.8 million barrels per day,
We also urge the Mr Kyari and Dr Otuaro to be firm in carrying out their official responsibilities to this great country. That oil thieves are focusing attacks on the, shows in clear terms that their actions are suffocating their evil activities in the region.”

Just-ln: IPF Issued a Powerful Communique, Tasks ljaw People to Play Politics in the lnterest of ljaw Nation

Just-ln: IPF Issued a Powerful Communique, Tasks ljaw People to Play Politics in the lnterest of ljaw Nation

*COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE MAIDEN EDITION OF THE IJAW PUBLISHERS' FORUM (IPF) MEDIA CONFERENCE*

The Ijaw Publishers' Forum (IPF) held its maiden Media Conference and Annual Dialogue with the theme 'Advancing the Quest for Economic and Political Justice' at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Memorial Banquet Hall in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, where sundry issues as they affect the Ijaw Nation were extensively discussed. The conference was attended by media practitioners, environmental activists, top government officials, among others.

The conference deliberated on the division in the Ijaw Nation caused by partisan politics, and consequently decried such an act.
The conference also looked at the attitude of some Ijaw political office holders towards their Ijaw brothers and sisters. The conference was specific on instances of some Ijaw political office holders shutting their doors to their Ijaw brothers and sisters; and more so preferring outsiders to their Ijaw brothers and/or sisters in terms of assistance.

The conference expressed worry on some national issues as they affect the Ijaw Nation. The conference was specific on the ongoing debate on the tax reform bills before the National Assembly, and the apparent silence by the Ijaw people.

The 2024 Media Conference and Annual Dialogue at the end of the deliberation resolved as follows:

That the persistent marginalisation and oppression of the Niger Delta people by the Nigerian Federal Government has led to a growing demand for resource control and self-determination.
That, as a region and Ijaw people who continue to bear the burden of the nation's oil wealth, its people are increasingly seeking greater autonomy and control over their natural resources.

That the Federal Government and other stakeholders must take immediate action to address the pressing issues such as environmental degradation, economic marginalization, and political exclusion, etc. facing the Niger Delta region.

That the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta at large must be united and determined to challenge the continuous marginalisation and demand a better future for themselves and their children.

That the Ijaw Nation and Niger Delta region have long been plagued by issues such as environmental degradation, economic marginalization, and political exclusion, yet, despite these challenges, the region particularly Ijaw Nation must remain resilient and determined to fight for their rights.
That the Ijaw people must continue to rise up against economic, environmental, and political injustice, until their voices are heard, and their rights are respected.

The conference demanded for greater investment in infrastructure, education, and healthcare, as well as the need for more inclusive and representative governance.

That Ijaw people must come together and take a common position on the ongoing debate on the tax reform bills  before the National Assembly, and that the Ijaw Nation must gather its best brain particular in the law profession to critically look into the Bill and take an anonymous position even as the NASS prepares for the public hearing.

That Ijaw leaders particularly political office holders must play an open door policy, keep their office doors open to their Ijaw brothers and sisters, and must rise to their assistance when such need arises.

That if the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta region fails to stand in unison and fight as one, the region and the Ijaw would be the loser.

That the unity of the Ijaw people depends on the Ijaw themselves who have always constituted themselves as their own hindrance.

That despite the struggles of the Ijaw people for political, environmental, social and economic emancipation, the Ijaw Nation is yet to make any progress because of the selfish interests from some leaders who always put their interests first. As such, those politicians representing the Ijaw people or the Nation at the organs of government should put the interest of the Ijaw Nation first.

That the Ijaw people need to reflect deeply on what they define as fairness, and need to put Ijaw Nation first inorder to move it forward.

That the Ijaw people must hold accountable their sons and daughters, likewise institutions who have betrayed the interests of the Ijaw people.

That the armed struggle which started with the birth of the INC and the IYC against the Federal Government and multinationals is now different, lamenting that it has become a personal struggle compounding the neglect of the Ijaw people, poverty, environmental genocide and general unrest in Ijaw Nation, thereby defying the dividends of democracy, justice and development, which has been dethroned by personal interest.

That if the Ijaw Nation must thrive, the Ijaw people must ensure to preserve their cultural identity, languages, traditions and values for the future generations, as well as promote social cohesion throughout the Ijaw Nation regardless of zonal differences, so as to overcome internal divisions.

The conference also addressed the issue of poverty in the Niger Delta despite being an oil and gas producing region especially within Ijaw communities.

That the governors of the Niger Delta region particularly those from the Ijaw extraction should promote entrepreneurship and educational opportunities for the people through the Ministry of the Niger Delta, the Niger Delta Development Commission, and the Amnesty Programme.

That the Ijaw people must play politics that is in the interest of the Ijaw people. Its leaders should rise up and form their own political parties if they are to break away from political slavery.
That Ijaw leaders and all well-to-do Ijaw sons and daughters should give support in terms of finance to Ijaw media practitioners who are telling the Ijaw story from the right perspective.

Amnesty: Otuaro Entrenching Enduring Peace in The Niger Delta _By Fidelis Soriwei

Amnesty: Otuaro Entrenching Enduring Peace in The Niger Delta _By Fidelis Soriwei

In March 2024, President Bola Tinubu left nobody in doubt  about his plans to entrench enduring peace in the oil rich Niger Delta. He made the deliberate bold step to break away from the tradition of getting retired military personnel to preside over the affairs  of the Presidential Amnesty Presidential, considered a strategic agency for peace sustenance in the Niger.

After a seemingly long process of consultations he came up with a  decision many have described as a masterstroke. He appointed a young dynamic and vibrant advocate for peace and development in the Niger Delta, Dr Dennis Otuaro, to oversee the affair of the office.

With his appointment, President Tinubu also displayed his position to ensure that the Amnesty Office was given the deserved place of priority as a Federal Agency of serious relevant. In what many considered rightly to be a reassuring break from the practice of the past, he appointed Dr Otuaro as the administrator of the programme with an obvious intent to stabilize the office and allay earlier fears.

Those who were privileged to lead the office under the former Administration of President Mohammdu Buhari, Col Dixon Dikio and Gen Barry Ndiomu had the clausal uncertainty of ‘interim administrator’ to their position because of the then moves to scrap the agency which was roundly condemned accross the Niger Delta and by all lovers of Nigeria.

President Tinubu was emphatic about his quest for lasting peace in the Niger Delta when he announced Dr Otuaro as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Office.

The President’s decision was greeted with widespread celebration as the keen observers of the Niger Delta and its recent history of development go to town to assert the strong optimism that Dr Otuaro’s antecedents are too strong to fail the President and the Nigeria Delta. The hope of success was widespread.

First, Dr Otuaro is one leader who does not require any briefing about the agitations in the Niger Delta and events that built up to the granting Presidential Amnesty by the late Yar’Adua Administration and establishment of the agency. His passion for peace and development in the Niger Delta are beyond the realm of doubt. That he would do his best and make the region proud was not in contest.

On assumption of office in March 2024, he made it clear that his motivation was not to make money at the Amnesty Office but to ensure that the programme was made effective and returned to the people of the region in line with its founding objectives.

As a man with a burning desire to sustain a tradition of impact for which he is reputed, he opted to explore the vast advantages of stakeholders consultations for optimum benefits. This was expected as it was contained in his opening remarks while taking over the office in March. “I need everybody’s cooperation here to take this programme to greatness. As from today we should back the crowd and face the job. I need everyone’s cooperation so we don’t disappoint the President, the NSA, the people of the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.”
He opened the effective consultation process with the visits to six partnering universities of the PAP  in Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa States from May 7th to 11th, 2024. These universities are the Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State; Benson Idahosa University, Edwin Clark University, Western Delta University, Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, and Bayelsa Medical University. His mission was to hear directly from the students under the PAP scholarship scheme with a view to addressing emergent issues and exploring new areas of cooperation to the benefit of the region. He was the first Administrator to take the initiative to visit the students in person in all the partnering institutions.

In June, he had productive consultative meetings with ex agitators and all the stakeholders of the Niger Delta in Warri Delta State. His gospel of peace resonated in the summit held with the theme"Fostering, Consolidating, and Collaborating for the Peace, Security, Stability, and Development of the Niger Delta."

He urged the stakeholders to unite in the pursuit of peace, consolidate the success of the Amnesty Programme to prevent the Niger Delta from relapsing into the pre-amnesty years of serious conflicts and violence, and its negative impacts on the region and the country.

In September, Otuaro expanded the frontiers of consultations by  engaging women across the Niger Delta in a summit in Warri with the theme “Niger Delta Women Empowerment: A Panacea for Peace, Stability and Economic Growth in The Region."

He seized the opportunity to assure the women folks of his administration resolve to include more Niger Delta women who are an integral part of the consultation process, in the implementation of the PAP mandate. The meeting, the first of its kind, was part of an expanded Niger Delta stakeholders' engagement by the PAP office with traditional rulers, opinion leaders, women group and youth bodies, among others.

The Conference was attended by frontline activist, AnnKio Briggs, former CNN African Reporter of the Year, Ibiba Don-Pedro, Beauty Warizowei, Primrose Kpokposei, Madam Godfrey Bebenimibo, Caroline Ene, Vero Smooth, Ghana Pondi, Rosemary Naingba-Oduone, Philomena Onukpuvie, Dr Beauty Agbaiboror, Tonbra Kilopirite, Dr Lolo Fubara Sax-Hailsham, and Rosebella Jackson.

Otuaro did not exclude the traditional institutions in the consultation process. He met with respected traditional rulers in the Niger Delta in a conference with the titled
‘Working Together for the Sustainable Peace, Security, Stability and Development in the Niger Delta’ where the royal fathers assured the President of their support with Otuaro’s style and administration.

The top monarchs expressed the hope that the Niger Delta would benefit from the President administration which appointed Otuaro and had shown positive signals of support to the region.

"We need to appreciate the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for finding our son worthy of that office and putting a square peg in a square hole. He (the president) should be rest assured of our full support.

"Having listened to the plans he has for us, from our own end, we will do everything necessary to ensure that Mr President succeeds. The developmental plan he has for the Niger Delta will be given the necessary support to ensure that it is executed, and our people will be the beneficiaries in the long run.

"We want to also assure you that you have our full support and the message should also be taken to Mr President we are in full support of all his developmental plans for the Niger Delta",

These were the  unanimous thought of the royal fathers of Tuomo kingdom, HRM King Justice F. F Tabai (retd); Kabowei kingdom, HRM King Peremobowei Erebulu; Agbon kingdom, HRM King Ogurimerime Ukori, CON; Akugebene-Mein kingdom, HRM King S.P Luke; and Ogulagha kingdom, HRM King Joseph Timiyan, and others.

In addition, Otuaro has had several private meetings with the top political leadership including the Ijaw  National Leader, Pa Edwin Clark, former  President Goodluck Jonathan, National Assembly members, governors, former Governors, ministers and other stakeholders to deepen the process of consultation.

Apart from the elaborate efforts at stakeholders enlistment in the affairs of the PAP, Otuaro has made a bold statement in pursuing his treasured area of priority - improvement of the manpower base of the Niger Delta through quality vocational training education, skills acquisition and empowerment, agriculture, among others.

Between March and December, Otuaro has ensured deployment of deserving beneficiaries in diverse areas of vocation including aviation training, acquisition of relevant skills in the maritime sector where 98 trainees were certified, and the granting of 1700 undergraduate scholarships painstakingly executed without controversy accross the region.

Otuaro believes that the most effective way to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President is the entrenchment of peace and security in the Niger Delta. It is without contestation that he has shown character and determination in pursuing this objective with clear results.

Tantita: Pondi hails Tinubu, NSA, N'Deltans for their support against oil theft, remembers staff lost at duty

Warri ____ The Chief Executive officer of Tantita Security services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Kestin Pondi has revealed that the organization had lost some workers in the war against oil theft, and they would not be forgotten, just as he hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for their relentless support and encouragement which enabled Tantita to excel in its mandate.

Pondi, in his speech at the company’s end of the year party on Saturday, also gave kudos to all security agencies and host communities for their uncommon support since Tantita was hired by the Federal authorities to compliment the war against criminality associated with petroleum products.
He also remembered those who lost their lives in the course of the war against crude oil theft, noting that rapid increase in crude oil production showed that their death was not in vain. Pondi said they would continue to be remembered for paying the supreme sacrifice in the national interest.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we (Tantita) won’t be where we are today if not for the unparalleled support and encouragement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, all arms of the security agencies and our various communities in the Niger Delta. We are eternally grateful to Mr. President, NSA, security agencies and our communities.”
“We must also recognise the roles played by our fallen heroes, I mean our workers and other stakeholders who lost their lives in the course of the struggle to totally eliminate crude oil theft in the nooks and crannies of the Niger Delta. They would not die in vain and indeed, the steady increase in crude oil production has shown that they didn’t die in vain,” the statement added.
