Rivers: Political Gimmicks to Abridge Fubara’s Tenure Will Be Resisted

The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide is using this medium to inform everyone in the Nigerian State that the Ijaws will not stand idly by and watch political gimmicks unfold in Rivers State with the sole intent of truncating the administration of His Excellency, Siminalaye Fubara, Executive Governor of Rivers State, an illustrious son of the Ijaw nation.

While we are not interfering with the judiciary and the ongoing political events, we are issuing a stern warning that the Ijaw people will not tolerate any move to impeach Governor Fubara.  He must be allowed to complete his tenure.

For the Ijaw people, this goes beyond mere politics; it has taken an ethnic dimension. We will not allow any ethnic group in Rivers State to hijack and truncate our Ijaw tenure. This is a fight we are prepared to wage with every fiber of our being. The Ijaw Youth Council stands fully in line with the Ijaw National Congress (INC) on this matter.
The Ijaw struggle for liberation in the Nigerian State led to the creation of Rivers State in 1967. It is no secret that the economic viability of the state is entirely dependent on Ijaw areas. Our people have sacrificed by uniting everyone in the state, supporting governors from other ethnic groups until this moment, when an Ijaw son, Governor Fubara, now leads.

It is important to acknowledge the 24 years of political dominance in Rivers State, from Peter Odili to Celestin Omehia to Rotimi Amaechi to Wike. It is unjustifiable to fight a man for developing his state.  The Ijaws are both the political and economic lifeblood of Rivers State. Throughout these past years of political dominance by the Ikwerre people, the Ijaws have consistently supported each governor. The Ijaws will not compromise on Fubara's Governorship in Rivers.

There is no way the Ijaw people can view this as anything but an ethnic battle when each governor from other ethnic groups in Rivers State has ruled peacefully for the past 24 years without this kind of conspiracy, fighting, and political manipulation. This is our turn, and we will not allow anyone or a group of persons to abridge our tenure.

People cannot hide under the guise of the judiciary or politics to undermine democracy and punish perceived political enemies. Rivers State is a multi-ethnic state, and what was not done when other ethnic groups were in power cannot be allowed to happen when an Ijaw, a major ethnic group, is in charge. As Ijaw people, we are unfazed by any consequences if anyone attempts to impeach Governor Fubara.

Why is it so difficult for undemocratic elements to allow Fubara to continue his uncommon progressive transformational administration in Rivers State? It is high time people realize that Governor Fubara is not alone in this fight.
Finally, let President Bola Ahmed Tinubu be aware that whatever that happens in Rivers State is not the fault of the Ijaw people. We have been preaching peace since the beginning of this political battle. Fubara has yet to complete two years in office and has already been subjected to unnecessary political battles and distractions.  A word to the wise is sufficient.

Signed

A LEGACY THAT WILL NEVER FADE AS WE GATHER TO MOURN
As we gather to mourn the passing of Chief Yeigagha, we also gather to celebrate the profound and lasting impact of his life. He was not merely a lawyer, a leader, or an educator; he was a husband to two wives, father, a brother, a son, and a friend. We Are Giving Presidential Amnesty Programme Human Face- Otuaro

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro, has said that his reforms at the PAP are aimed at giving the programme a human face and to help develop the people of the Niger Delta for a better future.

He explained that this formed part of his resolve to add value to the programme beyond the N65,000 monthly stipends paid to the ex-agitators.

Otuaro stated this at a closed-door meeting in Yenagoa on Saturday with the leaders of ex-agitators from Bayelsa State led by His Royal Highness, Selky Kile Torughedi alias General Young Shall Grow, with the President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Jonathan Lokpobiri, in attendance.

The PAP boss said his determination was boosted by the strong support of President Bola Tinubu, who understood the challenges of the region, and was ready to do more for the programme.

He, however, said that Ijaw and indeed the Niger Delta people must be united and encourage the president to create more opportunities of growth and development for the region.
Otuaro said, "As soon as my leadership came on board, we started our reforms to add value to the programme beyond the monthly N65,000 stipends paid to the ex-agitators. If we don't add value to the programme, then we will not be developing the future of our people.

"My concern is that we must give the programme a human face so that tomorrow it will actually be seen to have made impact on the people, and helped them.

"We must ensure that we develop our people, especially now that we have a President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, who understands our problems and has been supporting the programme massively. The president will do more if we are united. We must be united, but if we are not, nobody will take us seriously."

He told the stakeholders that the office, last year, trained 98 beneficiaries for maritime-skills acquisition, four pilot trainees graduated from training in South Africa, 45 persons deployed for aviation engineering training in Lagos would graduate this March, among other laudable initiatives.

On the deployment of scholarship beneficiaries for the 2024/2025 academic session in various partnering universities, Otuaro said he deliberately ensured a thorough and transparent process because it was the right thing to do.

He said he took responsibility for the outcome of the deployment process which had the number of beneficiaries increased from the initial 1,700 to 2,500 for the academic session, vowing not to allow the scheme to be hijacked.

He also said the office was fine-tuning plans to carry out an economic empowerment programme for the region's women and leadership training for ex-agitators' leaders and other critical stakeholders in the coming months.

Otuaro maintained that he was in office to render service to the people of the region, and appealed for support and cooperation from all stakeholders who love the area.

In their separate remarks, a former leader of ex-agitators, Paul Eris alias General Ogunboss; Bony Ayah alias General Don Inikio, who is a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly; and Lokpobiri commended the PAP helmsman for restoring the programme to the people and called on stakeholders to support him.

They also extolled the visionary leadership of the chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, noting that his commitment to the liberation of the Niger Delta was unmatched.

Also present at the meeting were General Africa Ukparasia, General Pius, General Darikoro, Elaye Slabo, Iziri Lucky alias General Lucky 7, Hon. Gibson, among others.

Oporoza House writes Tinubu, says media attacks against Otuaro unfounded, malicious, lauds reforms

Oporoza House, a coalition of distinguished elders, leaders, and stakeholders from the Niger Delta, has formally written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to disregard unfounded media attacks against Dr. Brutu Dennis Otuaro, the administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

In a letter signed by prominent figures, including Mr. Kime Engozu, Elder Kennedy Orubebe, and Felix Tuodolo, the group expressed their concern over a series of baseless allegations aimed at discrediting Dr. Otuaro and the progress of the PAP. They described these allegations as a "calculated attempt" to derail the achievements made by the program, which has been instrumental in promoting peace and development in the region.

Others who signed the letter included Hendricks Opukeme, Ari Sylvester Ari, Welman Warri, Cooler Hart, Ibiba Don Pedro, Felix Tuodolo, Elfrida Olungwe, Emmanuel  Bristol Alagbarigha, Tonbra Kasikoro, Chief Ben Donyegha, Chief David Reje Imole, Rosebella Jackson, Dr Lolo Fubara Sax Hailsham, comrade Anaye-Kio Akintunde, Alaowei Dr Oyeinfie E. Jonjon, Chief Tina Tobusi, Chief Dan Ekpebide,  Madam Primrose Oringeriya-Kpokposei, Arc. Sylvester Adowei and Comrade Morris Alagoa.
The letter contends that the claims of financial misappropriation against Dr. Otuaro are completely unfounded. The signatories insisted that all payments made under his administration were legitimate, adhering to federal accounting standards, and intended to bolster stakeholder engagement and regional stability.

The letter also copied the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Director General NFIU and the Chairman Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Commission, ICPC, adding that Niger Delta people are satisfied with the reforms of the administrator of the presidential amnesty programme, PAP.

"It is evident that these malicious allegations stem from ex-agitators who failed to secure appointments as Administrator of the PAP and are now seeking revenge," the letter stated. "Their actions represent a campaign of calumny aimed at tarnishing the reputation of Dr. Otuaro and the program.", they added.

"Under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership, Oporoza House praises the significant reforms introduced to promote transparency and accountability within the PAP. They noted that the reduction of fraudulent activities and illicit patronage has been a major achievement of his administration, allowing for more effective utilization of funds intended for the reintegration of ex-agitators.

"Since taking office, Dr. Otuaro has implemented innovative strategies, including vocational training and economic empowerment initiatives, which have led to an increase in the number of beneficiaries participating in educational programs. Oporoza House encourages the public and all stakeholders to focus on these positive contributions rather than be swayed by detractors", the Oporoza house added.

The group concluded their letter by reiterating their commitment to the goals of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and called for unity among Nigerians in support of the efforts to promote peace and development in the Niger Delta region. They urged the President to remain steadfast against efforts aimed at undermining the progress attained under Dr. Otuaro’s administration.

CAMPAIGN OF COLUMNY AGAINST THE PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY PROGRAMME

We are an assemblage of revered elders, leaders, and veterans of the Niger Delta self-determination agitation and esteemed stakeholders in the Presidential Amnesty Programme. Our collective experience and wisdom, forged through years of advocacy and struggle, have been instrumental in shaping the trajectory of the Niger Delta region.
We proudly recall our pivotal role in constituting the mobile resource team that championed the roadmap to resolving the Niger Delta hostilities. Our tireless efforts set the stage for the proclamation of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in 2009, a watershed moment that marked a new era of peace and development in the region.
As stakeholders, we have remained committed to the ideals of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, working tirelessly behind the scene to ensure its success and sustainability. We have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of the programme on the lives of former agitators and the region as a whole.

In the light of the recent malicious allegations against Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, we feel compelled to set the records straight. As stakeholders, we can attest to the programme's transparency, accountability, and commitment to its stated objectives. We urge you and the public to disregard these baseless allegations and instead focus on the programme's numerous achievements and contributions to peace and development in the Niger Delta region.

We write to express our utmost disappointment and outrage at the recent spurious allegations made by the Niger Delta Liberators and Ex-Agitators Forum. These baseless accusations are nothing short of a calculated attempt to discredit and undermine the recent progress made by the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

The Facts: A Programme of Reintegration and Development

The Presidential Amnesty Programme is a complex initiative aimed at reintegrating former agitators into society and promoting sustainable development in the Niger Delta region. Since its inception, the programme has made significant strides in providing education, vocational training, and economic empowerment to its beneficiaries. Dr. Otuaro's leadership has been instrumental in revitalizing the programme and ensuring its effectiveness.

Addressing the Allegations: Transparency and Accountability

We can state categorically that the allegations of misappropriation and financial impropriety made against Dr. Otuaro are unfounded. The payments made to stakeholders were legitimate and in accordance with standard accounting principles and practices of the Federal Government, which you can verify. These payments were part of the Administrator's efforts to engage with stakeholders and promote peace and stability in the region.

The Real Motive: A Desperate Attempt to Discredit

It is evident that the allegations are motivated by a desire to discredit Dr. Otuaro and the programme. Certain ex-agitators who failed to secure appointments as Administrator of the PAP are now seeking to exact revenge and undermine the progress made by the programme. Their actions are nothing short of a campaign of calumny, aimed at destroying the reputation of Dr. Otuaro and the programme.

Reforms and Accountability: A New Era of Transparency

Under Dr. Otuaro's leadership, the programme has introduced significant reforms aimed at promoting transparency and accountability. These reforms have drastically reduced the illicit and fraudulent patronage extended to certain ex-agitators, who had almost grounded the programme. The cessation of fraudulent payments has also been a major achievement, ensuring that funds are utilized effectively and efficiently.

Aborted Expectations: The Role of Disgruntled Ex-Agitators

Some ex-agitators, who had expected to be appointed as Administrator, are now seeking to discredit the programme and its leadership. Their actions are driven by a sense of entitlement and a desire for revenge.
We urge you and the general public to see through their motives and reject their baseless allegations.

The Impact of Dr. Otuaro's Leadership

Since his assumption of office, Dr. Otuaro's leadership has had a significant impact on the programme. He has introduced innovative approaches to reintegration, including vocational training and economic empowerment. His efforts have also led to an increase in the number of beneficiaries enrolled in education and training programmes.

The Rise in Crude Oil Production:
The recent rise in crude oil production could be partly attributed to Dr. Otuaro's leadership and his efforts to engage with stakeholders and promote peace and stability in the region. His approach has been instrumental in reducing tensions and promoting cooperation among stakeholders.

Conclusion:
We urge you and the general public to disregard the malicious allegations made against the Presidential Amnesty Programme and its leadership. The programme remains committed to its mission of promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development in the Niger Delta region. We will continue to
work tirelessly with other stakeholders to ensure that the programme's objectives are achieved, despite the attempts by detractors to undermine its progress.
Mr. President, we want to equally use this medium to call on you and all well-meaning Nigerians to support the Presidential Amnesty Programme and its efforts to promote peace and development in the Niger Delta region. Together, we can build a brighter future for our nation and ensure that the programme's objectives are achieved.

Se-Alabo Nengi James mourns death of pa Clark, calls on FG, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta State Governments to lmmortalize the Elder Statesman

*PRESS STATEMENT*

February 26, 2025.

*Building Legacies in Stone: A call for Pa Edwin Clark OFR, CON Immortalization*

As the former National Youth Leader of the South-South People’s Conference (SSOPEC), under the esteemed leadership of the late Harold Dappa Biriye and Chief Edwin Clark as Vice, I had the privilege of working closely with these two irrepressible leaders.

I gained invaluable knowledge from these nationalist figures, tireless advocates for the Niger Delta people and their true identity, who relentlessly championed equity and justice for the indigenous communities inhabiting the coastal territories and beyond, where Nigeria's abundant oil and gas resources are deposited.
The recent passing of Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, OFR, CON, my advisor, mentor, and father figure for many years, was a profound and unexpected shock, both personally and globally.

I deeply missed Chief Edwin Clark, our national leader, on emotional, psychological, physical, and personal levels. I extend my heartfelt condolences to everyone, particularly the immediate family, on the demise of my father figure, who I accompanied on numerous journeys across the North and other regions.

Pa Clark was an institution in himself, an exemplary leader, and a true national figure for the Ijaw-Niger Delta people. He also served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) worldwide.

Undoubtedly, Pa Clark deserves a monumental and befitting immortalization. No sacrifice is too great to properly honor his legacy. Therefore, I recommend the following:
 1. National Recognition: The Nigerian state should immortalize his image alongside that of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe on the five hundred naira note, mirroring the dual-image format of the one thousand naira note.

2. Local Content Tower: The Local Content Tower headquarters in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, should be renamed in his honor, recognizing his tireless advocacy for the rights of the oil-producing region.

3. Edwin Clark Foundation and Lecture Series: The Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers State governments, in collaboration with the BRACED Commission and the Nigerian government, should establish and support the Edwin Clark Foundation.

This foundation should organize an annual lecture series, the Edwin Clark Award and Lecture, to recognize distinguished leaders with leadership awards and to perpetuate the memory of his life and contributions.
4. Clark University Monuments: Already the late sage established an existing university in Kiagbodo, his home town, so the Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers State governments should each construct structures, such as hostels, at the University, serving as enduring monuments to his recognition by these states.

5. NDDC Support: The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) should conduct a needs assessment of Edwin Clark University and provide essential amenities to the institution, considering Pa Clark's pivotal role, alongside the late Harold Dappa Biriye, in the establishment of the NDDC.

In conclusion, while a befitting burial is essential, it is not sufficient to truly honor Pa Clark's legacy. These recommendations are crucial to ensure his tireless and fearless advocacy for the region and the nation, and his unwavering commitment to speaking truth to power, are permanently memorialized. Without such monumental immortalization, his immense contributions risk being diminished over time.

High Chief (Dr.) Nengi James, OON, MCArb, Mnim, Ijaw National Congress (INC) Worldwide, Vice President 2

Just-ln: N'Delta rights activist Ozobo, Bibakefie, lngo, others escape fulani herdsmen assassination in Delta

Francis Tayor

A renowned Niger Delta human/environmental rights activst, Comrade Austin Ozobo, Dr. Perez Bibakefie (CEO) lduwiniVoice Newspaper, Hon. Isaiah lngo and three others narrowly escaped death and abduction by Fulani herdsmen along the popular Orhor/Bomadi road in Delta State.

The heartbreaking terrifying experience occured on February 22, 2025 while the victims where returning from a burial ceremony in Torugbene Town, Burutu local government area of the state.
This is happening due to the inability of the state government to provide adequate security for the life and prosperity's of her citizens across the state.

It is also on record that the riverine dwellers in the state has time without number called on the state government led the His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to dualize Orhor/Bomadi road which the governor pays less attention, thereby giving room to criminal elements, especially Fulani herdsmen to laid siege on the road to carryout their nefarious activities in robbing, maiming, raping, killing and abducting residents and commuters plying the road over the years.
Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the dreaded Fulani herdsmen, Comrade Austin Ozobo who is the CEO Congress Newspaper and the President of ljaw Publishers Forum, lPF noted that the incident took place close to Agadama community at about 11:PM on the evening of February 22, 2025.

According to him, said on their way returning from a burial, their Prado Geep tyre bursted at the location. In the process of contacting a mechanic from Orhor community to fixed it, suddenly a ray of torch light shines on their eyes by the Fulani herdsmen with AK-47 riffles numbering six.
The group commander immediately ordered them to lie on the ground facing down and possessed them of their belongings including phones, money, ATM cards and other valuables. They where further asked to unlock their phones in which one of the herdsmen lashed Austin Ozobo with cutlass at his back two times due to delay in unlocking his phone.

Ozobo stated that the operation lasted for over 1hr without any sign of security patrol team, leaving them to their fate in the hands of the dreaded herdsmen." It took the grace and divine intervention of God to save our lives as the militia group commander order his men to leave us having successfully robbed us of our belongings", the statement added.
Meanwhile, they where lucky that the herdsmen refers to them as a normal street Yahoo boys who are hustling to survive, thereby spearing their lives to go and hustle for money to purchase another phones.

The Departure of a Colossus, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark_Obodo Elites Council of Ayakoromo Mourns

On February 17, 2025, the prominent leader of the Niger Delta people, Senator Dr. Chief E.K. Clark [OFR, CON], passed away at the age of 97.

Since his passing, tributes, accolades, and sorrow from individuals, groups, and organizations have flooded in. We, the OBODO ELITES COUNCIL OF AYAKOROMO, are no exception.

We extend our condolences to the people of the Niger Delta, the Ijaw nation, and especially the Bekederemo-Fuludu family of Kiagbodo in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.
What stood out to us were the heartfelt tributes from unexpected sources where he had fought for our collective cause—such as the Presidency, the Federal Legislature, and beyond the Niger Delta. This only affirms that during his lifetime, Chief E.K. Clark championed a righteous cause.

As former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan stated, “We are all saying the same thing, using different words to describe the foremost leader.” He was undoubtedly a remarkable man. Regardless of one's opinion of him, his greatness was unquestionable.

On his 90th birthday, seven years ago, Chief E.K. Clark declared that he was ready to depart, waiting in the departure hall with his luggage, but as long as the oppressors remained, he would continue to fight for justice until the end. A commitment he honoured until his passing on February 17, 2025.

Chief E.K. Clark's legacy was institutional. His remarkable memory, unmatched audibility, and versatile nature made him a revered figure. He was not only intelligent but also courageous and direct. He was willing to engage with all, including the corrupt, while exposing corruption with documented evidence. He had the rare ability to excel both in long endurance and short sprints. His death is akin to losing an Olympic gold medal for an athlete—a profound loss.

Despite never holding a political office, Chief E.K. Clark was widely recognized as the leading figure in the diverse and often fragmented Niger Delta, especially among the Ijaw people. His transformational leadership revealed the shortcomings of transactional leaders and made him a case study in leadership.

Given who he was and what he represented, his journey inevitably stirred controversies. That was the hallmark of an enigmatic, transformational leader—one who fought for society at large, not personal gain.

As a defender of the marginalized, the oppressed, and the Niger Delta, his adversaries should forgive him as we stand accountable for the battles he fought.

We urge the Ijaw nation to be cautious and avoid allowing opportunists or those with lesser credentials to claim his mantle, which would only diminish his legacy.

The OBODO ELITES COUNCIL stands ready to participate in any events following his burial rites.
May God grant Chief E.K. Clark eternal rest in Heaven.

Thank you, Senator Dr. Chief E.K. Clark [CFR CON], for your audacity. Dooh gha o.

Signed:

Manager Seigha, Chairman.

Engr. Yeigagha Henry, Secretary.

Dr. Francis Elaweremi, PRO.

Ijaw music maestro, Barrister Smooth laments over deplorable state of Orhor/Bomadi road, calls for action by Delta Govt, ljaw leaders

Oyinbi Onduku

Warri ______ The famous warri born ljaw highlife music maestro cum humanitarian, advocate for good governance and consistent agitator of freedom for self-determination for ljaw nation, Chief. Barrister S Smooth popularly known as the Paddle of Niger Delta has expressed displeasure and dissatisfaction over the deplorable condition of the strategic Orhor/Bomadi road that links ljaw and Urhobo riverine communities in Delta and Bayelsa States.

Smooth made the statement over the weekend while plying the road to perform at a show in Torugbene Town, Burutu local government area of the state regretted the negligence of the Delta State Government to engage a reputable construction giant companies like Julius Berger or Setraco to do a lasting standard job on the road for the people of Bomadi and others instead decided to use unknown company Niger Cat to do a substandard job on the very important project that will not last the test of time.

He expressed disappointment on the ljaw past and present political office holders for not speaking out for the people towards the dualization and speedy completion of the project rather keeping mute in their comfort zones leaving the common man to die daily on the bad Orhor/Bomadi road.

Smooth use this medium to call on ljaw traditional Rulers, political office holders in the House of Reps and Senate, State House of Assembly and local council chairmen to rise up and take drastic action by drawing the attention of the government led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori towards speedy completion of the road for the benefit of the common man in the rural areas who voted him into power, he stated.
Read below full details of the statement:

ORHOR/BOMANDI ROAD, A CALL FOR CONCERN

Let this be a wake-up call to our perceived leaders in government, that the ORHOR/BOMANDI road being handled by Niger Cat Construction Company is extremely below standard. My experience going through it recently was heartbroken. My curiosity is that, what is Niger Cat? How many roads has Niger Cat done in Delta state? What happened to the big companies like SETRACO and others known for great construction works in Delta state and beyond?

This is why I can't keep my mouth shut, for a real man dies the day he keeps quiet while his people have been enslaved? I can't be a slave to such actions at all. For this is what we see when it comes to Izon matters, always treated as second class, even here in our own state amongst our brothers in the Niger Delta.

To continue with the deception, I saw a stupid white man in the middle of the road as if all is right. Painfully this is one road linking to our rural communities, yet our leaders past and present could not speak of the injustice done to it. Even when we had our own son in the almighty Ministry of Niger Delta. In my silence I cried, who did this to us thinking of the many lives lost on that bad road.

My heart bleeds when I saw the road with the same political tactics of working without finishing. This is not right. This is wickedness on the parts of our leaders who see this wrong but decided to look the other way.

For this non- challant attitude of employing stupid companies without dignity, we have our Ayakoromo bridge lying there like a woman rejected by her husband. Close to it, is the Gbaregolo bridge cut into two, with the same careless abandoned.

It is my appeal to our leaders in the Senate, House of Reps, locl government Chairman, Kings, and Leaders of Thought to rise up to their responsibilities or history will spite on their graves.

May the spirit of Pa E. K. Clark rise among us!

Freedom is our goal!

I remain Chief Barrister S Smooth, the Paddle  of Niger Delta.
