2023: PDP May Loose Delta as Ward Chairmen Sue Okowa, Party over Ad-hoc delegates

2023: PDP May Loose Delta as Ward Chairmen Sue Okowa, Party over Ad-hoc delegates

Francis Tayor

Asaba_____ Trouble looms in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State as aggrieved ward Chairmen and members of the five Working Committee are already collating signatures in order to institute legal action against leadership of the party (National Working Committee), the governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, over alleged plot to shortchange their constitutional rights to vote in the forthcoming party primaries, stressing that it is the five men working Committee of the party at the ward level and 3 elected Ad-hoc delegates that have the constitutional right to vote in the PDP party primaries as stipulated in the party constitution.

In a statement released on Saturday morning in Asaba and signed by Prince Kelvin Perekeme, Chairman PDP Ward 7 Ayakoromo in Burutu local government area on behalf of the party Working Committee across the state, boldly stated that there is a looming earthquake to hit PDP that will result for the party to loose Delta State to the opposition if the right thing is not done immediately by the party leadership.

Prince Kelvin stated that the National Working Committee and Governor Okowa does not have the power and legal backing to decide on who to vote in the party primaries, adding that only the constitution of the country and that of PDP have the moral justification to do that.

In backing his statement with the constitution, Prince Kelvin said:

"Section 84(8) of the Electoral Act 2022 provides that: "A political party that adopts the system of indirect primaries for the choice of its candidate shall clearly outline in its constitution and rule the procedure for the democratic election of delegates to vote at the convention, congress or meeting.

By the provisions of the Electoral Act as quoted above, it means that only the elected party executive members that will vote at the party primaries. The elected delegates in the PDP are: National Working Committee members, Zonal Party Executive members, State Working Committee members, LGA Party Executive members, five Ward Party Executive members (Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary, Women and Youth Leaders as well as the three ad hoc delegates from each Ward.

Some people want to give blanket interpretation to Electoral Act in order to exclude all other delegates aside the ad hoc delegates. Any attempt to unlawfully exclude any of the qualified delegates will spell doom for the party. Those who want to use only ad hoc delegates to vote at the party primaries should be ready to go court as the delegates will sue the PDP to nullify the elections."

Speaking further, he said: " Already, delegates are collating signatures in Delta State in preparation for any eventuality. The Electoral Act is very clear on who is qualified to vote. Some persons are planning to take advantage of the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 to unlawfully disenfranchised many delegates who they feel will not do their bidding. If these selfish party stalwarts temper with the clear provisions of the Act then PDP will loose Delta State to the opposition in 2023. We hope that these political players know the dangerous implications of their evil plan to impose candidate on the people."

Therefore, as a matter of urgency and for the general interest of the umbrella party, he urged the National Working Committee and Governor Okowa of Delta State to make a U-turn immediately in their purported plan to use only A-dhoc delegates to vote or risk losing Delta to the opposition party in coming 2023 general elections, the statement added.

' l Withdrew my Presidential Bid to Support President Buhari ', says Sylva

Abuja____ Chief Timipre Sylva, Minister of State for Petroleum, has withdrawn from the presidential race in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has returned to work.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who monitored development at the ministry in Abuja on Monday reports that Sylva withdrew having considered the enormous work at hand at the ministry.

NAN reports that the Northern Solidarity Group had on May 9, presented the APC’s Expression of Interest and Nomination form to the minister to enable him to contest the party’s 2023 presidential primaries.

An official at the ministry who chose to remain anonymous said Sylva withdrew from the race to support President Muhammadu Buhari in his quest to achieve a robust oil sector.

“He promised to consult the leader of the country and his political leaders the day he was presented with the form.

“He believes that concentrating on his work will attract more investments for the oil and gas sector.

“He has consulted and he believes that the challenges at the ministry and oil and gas sector are enough issues for him to begin to deal with now than going to pursue presidential ambition at the expense of the nation.

“The oil and gas sector is the mainstay of the economy and it is not like any other ministry somebody can just come in and take over.

“It requires some measures of time for the person to understand what is happening in the system.

“For the interest of the industry and the nation, he has decided to wave that personal ambition to see what he can contribute in the remaining part of President Buhari’s administration.

“The implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 is very critical and he wants to continue to make his own contribution to the day-to-day running of the country and support Mr President for robust achievements,” the official said.

Meanwhile, Mr Horatius Egua, Senior Adviser, Media and Communications to the minister, when contacted, confirmed to NAN that the minister was back to work.

Featured Article: The 'Political Lucifers'_By Ekanpou Enewaridideke

Strategically placed from the North to the South and from the East to the West of the universe and vice-versa are political haulers by whom adamantine followers and defenders of political leaders/political office holders are hauled willy-nilly into pitiable dungeon-like living conditions established as the centres for the production and supply of the survival and sustenance ration for political office holders who are the originators of the politics of economic attrition as the sworn political 'Lucifers' of this manipulated generation of dedicated followers and inveterate political Lucifers though there are political leaders and political office holders who are exceptions to this by their acts of commitment to the politics of development and empowerment irrigation.Deep as the stinging sensation from this deliberate reduction is, the unyielding followers feel currently opiated by the sure eventual visitation of corresponding karma upon the political Lucifers at the appointed time.Could the waiting karma therefore be the opium of followership-servility in this manipulated generation?

The politics of economic attrition is the theatricalised obsessional dance of some designated political actors. Those are the heartless murderers of the transformational ideals of politics. To these ideologised promoters of economic attrition, the economic retrogression of their followers is the ritualised medication for their psychological, economic and political stability and advancement in their calibrated political careers. Sadly, the ideologised promoters of economic attrition do not even care to know that this disgusting thing called economic attrition has become such an archaism in this digital age that selfishly holding unto it for eternity could only produce devastating karmic results in seasonal electoral communications.

Carrying no burden like the burden of a pachydermatous skin found in pangolin, for victims of economic attrition their hope lies in the seasonal electoral communication because it is the ideal time to release the sound bite that the advocates of economic attrition have become such excrement nobody is willing to transact political business with. Yet the virus of political attrition shamelessly traverses the world without the knowledge that its karmic season of great harvest is May 2022 and May 2023.

Lest I forget, the directional echoes are still everywhere – the directional echoes of that great philosopher called Timiebi Maika who contends that when political actors are intimidated and disgusted by the economic and political advancement of their ‘mumu’ followers and engineer the framework and mechanism to end the advancement and reduce the mumu followers to puppets subject to be drawn theatrically to attain the targeted political objective of the political actors in every electoral cycle, using the systematic pauperisation of their created puppets as the raw material for their own unimpeded growth, it is called the birth of the politics of economic attrition.

Politics anywhere on earth – Greece, Brazil, America, Singapore, Akparemogbene, Sokebulou, Akugbene, Egodor, Agbodobiri, Okerenkoko, Obotebe etc – has a propelling force. Politics droops like ‘Baafun’ leaves in the heat of the sun and dies without this propelling force. Developmental transformation is the propelling force of politics; it is this charm of transformation resident in politics that accounts for the gravitation towards politics. Over the years developmental transformation of individuals, communities, infrastructure and even the superstructure had long been firmly established as the opium of politics. Yet some very old politicians have institutionalised a politics of calibrated pauperisation targeted at the people they rely on every electoral season for electoral victories. This is sadly the paradox of politics when juxtaposed with the primary purpose of politics which is basically developmental transformation.

Dedicated practitioners who practise the politics of economic attrition like diligent legal practitioners are traceable in every political space in a democratic environment. For the political actors who are the dedicated practitioners of the politics of deliberate progressive impoverishment, they have a covert mechanism perfected over twenty years ago though unknown to their core believers/supporters. They had either a governorship or presidential ambition nursed twenty years ago. Towards the actual birth of this so-called ambition, they had to swear to an oath in the privacy of their shrine that none of their supporters would be given an opportunity to grow politically and economically above their political bosses. This dangerous resolve of the political actors is an emanation from the proverb that the Okra plant can never grow above the owner or the planter who planted it – a proverb that is at odds with the realities of existence on earth.

Towards creating a semblance of sensitivity to the plight of the supporters of the so-called insensitive political actors, the devoted supporters are deservedly rewarded with low political appointments; for others they are grouped and given a single contract – a contract they are too financially incapacitated to execute and so they end up selling it to a full-time contractor to buy. After the sale of the so-called contract, each goes home with one million naira or less. Even with the one million naira each has been entitled to, they have to contribute money and give to their OGA Political head who made it possible for the contract to come as a reciprocal appreciation from the believers. Beaming with smiles of reciprocal recognition from his systematically pauperised mumu followers, the so-called Oga political head would claim it without a prick of conscience – but rather disgustingly full of self-congratulations on his seasonal systematic contractual magnanimity!

Few months after the contractual largesse or even in the freshness of the low political appointments their political boss has been radiantly magnanimous to create for them with a visible high proportion of self-exhibitionism, they are seen running to the boss for financial boost and assistance because what they have is not enough for them to attain reasonable amount of economic independence. The political bosses are silently excited in their hearts that they have economically turned their own undying supporters into puppets they can draw from time to time for theatrical entertainment in politics. The support base for the political boss is always full and strong as long as the believers are systematically kept hungry and economically rootless.

The politics of economic and political rootlessness of the supporters has to be sustained until the election season arrives. In the full flush of the election season the political boss becomes the only aspirant for his desired elective office office because there is nobody to challenge the boss however the dismal performance history in the past years. Even if it is the office of the governor or president that is desired, the road carries no barricade or encumbrances because the anticipated obstacles had long been futurologically cleared through the politics of calibrated pauperization, progressive impoverishment, economic rootlessness and political rootlessness.

With a Buddhist enlightenment or knowledge full as the full moon seated in the sky, for the apostles and advocates of this retrogressive political philosophy of followership-management, they are quick to plug or clog any opportunity where their supporters are likely to be given either a juicy contract or juicy political appointment carrying the probabilities of rapid economic transformation of the individuals. Such political bosses are the political Lucifers of our time. Again, for the advocates of this retrogressive politics, they are so professionally pretentious in their public persona that you can hardly identify them as the political Lucifers of our time.

A danger hangs perpetually on the necks of the political Lucifers who prioritise the economic and political rootlessness of their supporters. For these political Lucifers none of their core supporter or family member can give them one million naira as a supportive donation for their senatorial, governorship or presidential drive/ambition. Because none of their supporters or family members had been radiantly empowered long before the election, the boss aspirant will have to rely on his pocket alone for sponsorship of his electoral ambition, and the campaign ship of the boss becomes becalmed and runs the risk of political shipwreck where the purse of the boss gets depleted midway. For advocates of the economic and political impoverishment of their supporters, let it be known that they equally run the risk of electoral failure and political oblivion the moment they lose the power to fuel their political boat from their individual pockets because their deliberately impoverished supporters and family members are too poor to rescue them.

Actually, the political Lucifers whose world revolves around the sustainability of the politics of progressive impoverishment of their supporters in both economic and political terms are electorally awaited by a death-knell karmically built. The operational duration of the satanic politics of economic and political rootlessness often covers decades without detection but bound to be discovered someday. The day the deliberate economic and political rootlessness covertly created by the political bosses is known, he or she becomes excrement to the hitherto undying supporters. Before the supporters the once inspiring cant of the boss loses its charm. This becomes the road to political oblivion and ‘DEKOOR’ because the believers have turned owls on  tree branches in the forest, now ominously hooting at their once respected political bosses for the economic and political deprivation covertly let loose on them over the years while they followed their political bosses slavishly. To the hitherto mumu followers whose benevolent mumu has attained the enough-status in their moment of wakefulness, the boss becomes the leader of the coven who should be hooted at publicly and isolated.

Everything on this earth is timed. There is a time to economically and politically pauperise people so that elective political spaces will  always be accessible like umbrella unfurled for you to monopolise as many times as you want because the people with the potential to give the needed correctional caution are too economically and politically disadvantaged and weak to challenge you. There is time for this retrogressive politics to rule without detection. There is also a time for the political Lucifers to be discovered and told a karmic tale in reciprocal language.

Unto the energising embrace of native chalk my heart dances now because the politics of economic and political attrition conceived and pursued sustainably against the ordinary people who wholeheartedly support their political leaders has been detected. Detected through intelligence-gathering and intelligence-analysis, the resolve of the ordinary supporters whose growth destinies were deliberately incarcerated by their trusted political leaders for decades is to see that the efforts of those political leaders are electorally thwarted as governors, presidents, senators, House of Representative members and members of State Houses of Assembly. So for aspirants in 2023 who have been discovered as advocates of economic and political rootlessness and systematic impoverishment of their supporters, they shall be electorally wounded and taught a karmic lesson in corresponding dimension viewed as a co-ordinate degree of responsiveness to the viral rampage of the politics of economic attrition in the political space.

Even without a conscious meditation channelled by Rosicrucians, Hindus and Buddhists to God  for His specially solicited intervention, in 2023 there shall be no space for political Lucifers because the ordinary people are now totally disenchanted with the viral rampage of the politics of economic attrition – a retrogressive sustainability political strategy cunningly deployed over the decades by the political Lucifers of our time. This is incidentally the plane from which His Excellency Otuaro, the loyal and humble Deputy Governor of Delta State, will eagle into Dennis Osadebe House in 2023 as the stainless white eagle because he is an antagonist of the politics of economic attrition since the protagonists of the politics of economic attrition are the only electorally endangered species in the politics of any country.

Just-ln: EFCC writes INEC, demands APC, PDP, other aspirants’ bank details over Nomination Forms

Just-ln: EFCC writes INEC, demands APC, PDP, other aspirants’ bank details over Nomination Forms

Abuja_____The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has launched a discreet investigation into the finances of the 18 political parties in the country and their presidential aspirants.

This followed the humongous fees paid for expression of interest and nomination forms by aspirants vying for various elective offices in the parties.

The anti-graft agency has, therefore, asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to furnish it with the bank accounts and other financial details of the political parties.

It also asked the managing directors of Access Bank and Polaris Bank to provide the details of the 14 accounts operated by the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party and another organisation believed to be connected to the opposition party.

While the ruling APC sold its presidential forms for N100m, the main opposition party pegged its forms at N40m.In addition, the APC governorship aspirants paid N50m, while persons who declared for the Senate, House of Representatives and state Houses of Assembly paid N20m, N10m and N2m, respectively for their nomination and expression of interest forms.

On the other hand, the PDP sold its governorship forms for N21m; Senate, N3.5m; House of Representatives, N2.5m; and state Houses of Assembly, N600,000.

While the other parties charged lesser amounts for their forms, the exorbitant nomination fees charged by the two dominant parties angered many Nigerians with Transparency International describing the development as a form of money laundering.

The EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, last week hinted on a Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, that the commission would monitor campaign finances, including the legitimacy of the funds used to purchase nomination forms ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Bawa said the commission would be working with INEC and other election-related organisations to track the sources of the money spent on the purchase of nomination forms.

He noted, “When it comes to the issue of monitoring election funds as well as candidates’ funds that has to do with the work of INEC in this regard. But, of course, we are working hand in glove with INEC and other related agencies in that field to ensure that we follow the money.

“We want to know the source, whether it is legitimate or illegitimate, because that is what concerns us.”

Findings by Saturday PUNCH, however, indicated that the agency had begun a forensic investigation and tracking of the finances of the political organisations and interest groups.

The EFCC, in a letter to the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, dated May 9, 2022, signed by its Director of Operations, Michael Wetkas, on behalf of the chairman, demanded a list of all political parties, their designated bank accounts and any other information that could aid its investigation.

The letter, with reference number CB.3383/EFCC/HOPS/HQ/VOL.1/28, titled, ‘Investigation activities’, read, “The commission is conducting an inquiry in which the need to obtain certain information from your commission is imperative. In view of the foregoing, you are requested to kindly avail the following information: list of all registered political parties; list of designated accounts submitted by the political parties to your commission; any other information that may assist the commission in its investigation.

“This request is made pursuant to sections 38(1) and (2) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004. While thanking you immensely for your continuous cooperation and collaboration, please accept the assurances of the chairman’s esteemed regards.”

The EFCC in another letter, also signed by the Head of Operations, informed the managing directors of Access Bank and Polaris Bank in Abuja that it was investigating 14 accounts of the two dominant parties.

According to the letters, the investigation involves accounts 0692988080, 0035644896 and 0044183689 in Access Bank belonging to the APC; an account with number 0054586830 owned by the National Secretariat of the PDP, and three other accounts by Umbrella Trust Limited – 0076600091, 0066988655 and 0068595990.

In Polaris Bank, one of the accounts belongs to the APC (1771444115), while two are operated by the PDP – 1140060876 and 1770319690 – and four by the ‘PDP Fund Raising Dinner’ – 1771643176, 177647521, 177164514 and 1771647507.

Wetkas wrote, “The commission is investigating a case in which the above-mentioned account names and numbers featured.

“In view of the above, you are kindly requested to forward the certified true copies of the following: Account opening packages/mandate cards; statement of account from January 2021 to date (hard and soft copies). The soft copy should be copied to excel format and forwarded to cagomuo@effc.gov.ng.”

The letter also requested the certificate of identification pursuant to Section 84(4) of the Evidence Act, 2011. (The certifying officer should include his full name, designation, signature and date on each page). The commission also requested the banks to furnish it with any other relevant information that could assist the investigation.

Support groups may be probed for money laundering

Saturday PUNCH also gathered that the probe might also extend to the various support groups, which bought nomination forms for aspirants.

Our correspondent learnt that the EFCC was working on signals that the interest groups were being used to carry out money laundering activities.

For instance, a group known as the Association of Fulani-Almajiri, which is a northern group comprising nomadic pastoralists and Almajiri communities, on Monday obtained the N100m APC presidential forms for former President Goodluck Jonathan.

INEC says 1.4m online registration invalid
The group said it paid the exorbitant price of the forms with funds raised from the sale of cows to ensure that Jonathan, whom it described as the best President for Nigeria, returns to Aso Rock in 2023.

Similarly, three interest groups, the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, Emefiele Support Group and Friends of Godwin, purchased the presidential nomination forms for the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele.

Also, a coalition of 28 groups, including the Youth Arise Movement, Nigerians in Diaspora, One Nigeria Group, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, as well as women groups and farmers reportedly procured the APC presidential forms for the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, last Saturday in Abuja.

Similarly, the Tinubu Support Organisation procured the N100m forms for a national leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The leadership of the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju led the groups that picked the forms for Tinubu, who was at the time in Saudi Arabia for the lesser hajj.

The Director-General, TSO, Aminu Suleiman, said the groups paid for the forms because they were sure that Tinubu would win. “I, Hon. Aminu Suleiman would like to officially state that I have signed a cheque to the tune of 100 million naira for the purchase of nomination and expression of interest forms for our leader @officialABAT. God bless,” he tweeted.

No fewer than 28 aspirants bought the APC presidential forms, which closed on Friday.

The trend of groups purchasing forms for aspirants did not start this year. In 2018, the Nigeria Consolidation Ambassadors Network purchased the N45m presidential form of the APC for the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), when he was gunning for a second term.

In the PDP, no fewer than 17 aspirants purchased the party’s N40m forms, two of whom were screened out.

They are governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State; Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State; and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; investment banker and economist, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen; and a former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi.

Others are a former Senate President, Pius Anyim; ex-President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Sam Ohuabunwa; a United States-based medical doctor, Nwachukwu Anakwenze; the Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu; former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Cosmos Ndukwe; Charles Ugwu and Chikwendu Kalu.

Also in the race are former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar; a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; a former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, and the only female presidential aspirant in the party, Teriela Oliver.

When asked to respond to the ongoing probe, the spokesman for the APC, Felix Morka, said he was in a meeting and promised to speak later. He had yet to respond to a text message sent to him on the issue as of the time of filing this report.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, declined comment, saying he was not aware of the EFCC investigation. “I’m not aware of it and I don’t want to comment on it,” he said on the telephone on Friday.

Tracking of campaign finances not a witch-hunt, says REC

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Prof Abdulganiyu Raji, has said tracking the campaign finances of political parties by the commission is not a witch-hunt against any individual or group.

Speaking in Osogbo on Friday during a sensitisation workshop for political parties on campaign finance tracking ahead of the governorship election on July 16, Raji stated, “One of the mandates of INEC, apart from the conduct of elections, is to track the finances of political parties with a view to knowing how good they are faring as far as their finances are concerned, in addition to being able to assist them in planning their activities.

“Tracking the finances of political parties is not a witch-hunt. It is for better understanding of the financial activities of the parties. What we do is to track the campaign finances (inflow and outflow) and report to the appropriate quarters in INEC.”

The REC said the commission had earlier organised a similar training for some of its senior staff members in the state, adding, “Today, we are not tracking the finances of these political parties; we are actually taking them through the processes and procedures, and all the necessary techniques that they will need to track their own finances.

“While they are doing it on their own, we will also be doing our own independently. We at INEC submit our reports to the appropriate quarters, but for political parties, in addition to submitting their reports to us, they will also be able to use them for planning their activities. I believe that if they pay attention at the workshop, it will be of benefit to them.”

Raji added that the workshop was usually organised for political parties and candidates before every election

Just-ln: 2023 Presidency, APC Aspirants Resolve To Step Down For Jonathan

Just-ln: 2023 Presidency, APC Aspirants Resolve To Step Down For Jonathan

Abuja_____ Following the 2023 Presidency, information reaching our new desk has it that APC aspirants have resolved to step down for Jonathan.

A reliable source in Asorock reported the deal on the table for former President Goodluck Jonathan to run for President in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was learnt that some Northern decision-makers have already promised the former President the APC Presidential ticket without having to go through the arduous primaries process.

Even though Jonathan hadn’t made up his mind at the time, the offer was on the table for him to consider, as high-ranking members of the APC considered it as the best way to end Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambition.

In response to demonstrators who recently invaded his Abuja office and demanded that he run for President in 2023, Goodluck Jonathan stated he was still consulting and had not made up his mind.

It was also learnt that key figures in the All Progressives Congress, including some influential Northern governors, are doing everything they can to ensure Jonathan’s name appears on the party’s ballot during the next election, including allegedly sponsoring the above-mentioned protest and allegedly buying his Presidential nomination and expression of interest form days ago.

This medium has also learned that party leaders, including some northern governors, have already reached out to other members of the National Working Committee to ensure Jonathan’s adoption as the consensus candidate, and this topic dominated the conversation when Jonathan paid a visit to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu in Abuja on Monday night.

The Governors have also begun reaching out to some of the contestants to withdraw from the race to enable a smooth sail for Jonathan; so far, we learnt that the moves are already yielding results.

Jonathan has changed the game amid outrage
With Jonathan in the picture, some other contenders have expressed outrage, claiming that the plan would be unjust if it followed through.

For fear of the backlash and opposition he could face from already existing members of the party if he runs on the APC ticket, Jonathan is said to have asked for an open endorsement from President Muhammadu Buhari, which would provide him with a smooth ride through the process.

As of the time of filing this report, 9news Nigeria cannot confirm whether Jonathan’s demands will be met, but a source at the meeting said, “The former president would not be available for the screening because he won’t be in the country for two weeks because he is going to Dakar, Senegal for the ‘Dialogue on sustaining democratic principles in the ECOWAS sub-region organized by the West African Elders Forum.”

Only a few days ago, the Nomadic Herders and Almajiris obtained the APC N100 million nomination form for the former President.

Jonathan, however, denounced the organization in a statement issued by his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, claiming he did not authorize any organization to get the form on his behalf.

It remains to be seen where the build-up to 2023 will take us, but there are certainly more intrigues in the works.

How Chidinma Killed Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga – Witness Testifies in Court

How Chidinma Killed Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga – Witness Testifies in Court

DSP Olusegun Bamidele, a police officer with the homicide department of the State Criminal Investigating Department (SCID) Yaba, has revealed more details on his testimony on the ongoing murder case of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga.

Continuing his testimony at the Lagos High Court on Tuesday, May 10, Bamidele while answering questions from the Lagos State’s Deputy Director of Public Prosecution, Adenike Oluwafemi, said investigations revealed where the late Usifo Ataga and Chidinma might have met before arriving at the crime scene.

Bamidele told the court;

”While I was investigating into the background, I and a friend of the deceased went to Angel Villa Hotel in Lekki. The owner of the hotel was approached and the story was related to him. Luckily the hotel had a CCTV which revealed the presence of the deceased and Chidinma at the hotel.

“After we tracked her to her home in Alagomeji and brought her to the DCP’s office, she was asked about her relationship with the deceased.

“She denied initially and this prompted us to deploy the CCTV. She then agreed that she is the Chidinma Adaora Ojukwu we were looking for.

“We then took her in the company of her foster father, one Onoh Ojukwu back to the house in Alagomeji where we initially arrested her. We conducted a search of the house in their presence”.

The officer said the search uncovered a maroon-colored cloth that the suspect wore on the fateful day the late Usifo Ataga was murdered.

“The cloth was stained with blood. Then Onoh Ojukwu shouted: “Chidinma, you have killed me, you have done something wrong outside. Chidinma was also crying.

“We also recovered the black/blue long-sleeved gown she wore when she left the apartment in Lekki. This further established that she has something to do with the deceased.

“We recovered Access bank statements of the deceased, we recovered a UBA bank statement with the name Mary Johnson, an ID card with Chidinma’s picture but which carried the name Mary Johnson, an international passport with her picture, a Uniport certificate with Chidinma’s name boldly written on it, her phone and some other documents I can’t recollect. We then went back to the office.”

He testified to the Court that at the office, he provided Chidinma with some food, malt drink and water, after which he started to question her and record her statement.

“She said she knew the deceased, that they met at a hangout in Victoria Island. The deceased was introduced to her by her friend’s boyfriend. She mentioned the friend as Fiyin and the boyfriend as Tony. She said the relationship started in February and after a while, they developed sexual relations.

“I remember she mentioned a date, 12th June, 2021. She received a call from the deceased that they needed to see and go out. Based on the request, she sourced for the apartment.

“She confessed that shortly after her arrival at the apartment, on the 13th, the deceased drove in, in his Range Rover. On his arrival, she said they were both hungry and drove out to eat and returned to the apartment, watched film, conversed leading up to sex. They also engaged in smoking. On the 14th, they did the same thing.

“She said she initially came in with the loud smoke. That’s the name she called it. After they finished it, they needed more. She recollected that she made a call to the second defendant, Quadri who helped her source for the loud and another drug called Rophynol. She also mentioned that the items were brought in through a despatch rider to the apartment.”

“She described Adedapo Quadri as someone introduced to her by a friend. That Dapo supplied the drugs to her. The IPO asked her about the potency of the drugs. She responded that a tablet is enough to knock out whoever uses it while loud is a cigarette light smoke.

“She said on the 15th, after engaging in smoking, the deceased asked for more sex, which she denied him. The deceased went to the chair to relax and she thought he was no more interested in sex, only for him to return to the bed to ask for more sex. She said she pushed him away, which resulted in him knocking her head against a stool that had a glass.

“Having sustained injury on the head and knees, there was a struggle between them and she said she managed to lay hands on a kitchen knife with which she stabbed the deceased on the neck twice. She confessed that she stabbed him severally without counting and the deceased eventually fell to the floor in the room”.

The police officer also narrated to the court, Chidinma’s statement on how she met the second defendant, Adedapo Quadri.

“When we interacted with the first defendant, she mentioned the second defendant, Quadri and how they met. On the premise of this, we carried out a search on the call logs of the 1st defendant since she said she doesn’t know his house or address. The call log showed regular calls between both of them,” he said

According to Bamidele, Chidinma said;

“They spoke on phone twice on the 15th June 2021. On the 17th, there was a conversation between both of them for about 3 times. On 18th, there was conversation twice.

“On 21st of June, it is also established that they called each other and this prompted the tracking team to swing into action. Eventually he was tracked to Surulere in Lagos, arrested and brought to the office.

“During interactions with him, he confessed that he knows the Ist defendant who was introduced to him by one of his friends called Sam. The same Sam had earlier told Chidinma that Adedapo Quadri is capable and can assist her to prepare any documents she needs.

“Quadri also mentioned that Sam gave him Chidinma’s phone number after which he called Chidinma and they agreed on where to meet. He confirmed that they met at Sabo & another time at Alagomeji area.

“During their interactions, he agreed to the request of Chidinma to assist her with preparing certain documents. The documents he assisted her to procure are drivers license, an identity card, UBA statement of accounts, Access bank statement of accounts and a passport.

“The UBA statement of account carried the name Mary Johnson while the Access bank statement has Michael Usifo Ataga’s name on it.
