Amnesty Office Distances Self from Alleged Fraudulent Demobilisation Exercise for Pipeline Protection

Amnesty Office Distances Self from Alleged Fraudulent Demobilisation Exercise for Pipeline Protection

Abuja ___The Presidential Amnesty Programme has dissociated itself from a purported ‘demobilisation exercise’ being bandied in the Niger Delta by unscrupulous elements who are going about collecting money from unsuspecting members of the public  for pipeline surveillance and other vocational trades.

A statement signed by Mr Igoniko Oduma, the Special Assistant on Media to the PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Otuaro, on Tuesday, said the clarification became necessary after the Office was inundated with inquiries from concerned stakeholders over the fraudulent exercise.

It stated that the PAP Office under the leadership of Otuaro does not collect money or solicit favours from Niger Deltans in order for them to become beneficiaries of its educational scholarship scheme and vocational training programmes.

The Office urged the members of the public to be vigilant and report such characters to security agencies so that they are apprehended for prosecution.

The statement read, "It has come to the attention of the Presidential Amnesty Programme that some unscrupulous elements are going about collecting money from unsuspecting Niger Deltans for a purported demobilisation exercise by the PAP Office.

"These unpatriotic elements claim that the PAP Office will use the demobilisation exercise to recruit people for training in pipeline surveillance and other vocational trades.

"Our findings show that these dishonest persons have deceived their targets into believing that the exercise will take place at designated centres in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo and Ondo states etc.
"The PAP office states categorically that it is not organising or carrying out any demobilisation exercise in any part of the Niger Delta.

"The presidential amnesty office does not collect money or solicit favours from Niger Deltans to be beneficiaries of its educational scholarship scheme and vocational training programmes.

"The office therefore advises the youths and indeed the people of the Niger Delta not to fall victim to the criminal activities of these unpatriotic characters. No Niger Deltan should be hoodwinked into taking part in the criminal enterprise.

"The PAP Administrator, Dr Dennis Otuaro, frowns at the brazen attempt by these unpatriotic characters to tarnish the image of the office with their fraudulent activities.

"The PAP helmsman urges security agencies to arrest and prosecute those involved in the fake demobilisation programme to serve as deterrent to others."

Hardship: Rights Group Canvasses for subsidized Mass Transport Scheme in Delta

Hardship: Rights Group Canvasses for subsidized Mass Transport Scheme in Delta

A human rights group, the Organisations for Human and Peoples Rights Protection and Humanitarian (OHPRPH), has called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration in Delta State to provide a subsidized mass transport scheme for the people of the State to cushion their economic hardship.
This was contained in a statement signed by the national president of the organisation, Comrade Ezekiel Kagbala, an investigative journalist and publisher of FocalPoint Reports.
In the statement made available to newsmen in Warri on Tuesday, the organization appealed to Governor Obovrevwori to "initiate a 50% fare subsidy to enable Deltans to move around at ease despite the current economic hardship being experienced in the country".
The organization suggested that "if possible, the state government should acquire buses for mass transit and also establish partnerships with private transporters as was done in the era of former Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in Delta, who acquired over 130 Mass-Transit Buses, thus ensuring that Deltans moved around in comfortable vehicles at affordable cost".
The organization also advised the State Governor to establish a committee to explore the possibilities of acquiring electric vehicles for mass transit since fuel subsidy removal had grossly escalated fuel costs, thus leading to increased transportation expenses for workers.
The statement partly reads, "Currently, Deltans are experiencing high cost of transportation, though the primary cause was the fuel subsidy removal and the noninvestment of the state government into the transport sector to ease commuting and small-scale business.
"The other factor is that the state government has no regulatory measures in place to check excessive increment of transportation costs and activities of 'agberos' who encourage transporters to increase transport fares at impulse.
"Governor Sheriff Obovrevwori should know better that Deltans are experiencing Multi-dimensional hardship, the worst of its kind. Delta State will not feel it this hard if the state governments had initiated micro projects geared towards addressing basic needs of Deltans.
There is no doubt that the state governor had good intentions for, prioritizing mega projects such as bridges and road construction, building universities in the state.
"Governor Sheriff Obovrevwori should, as a matter of urgency, direct the Ministry of Housing, Economic Planning, Transport, and Agriculture to embark on micro community-based projects to regulate and provide affordable housing schemes that will decongest the cities and ensure that residents have some space for farming. Economic planning should get out of their office and get usable data that will enable the state government to plan economically viable micro-scale projects.
"Ministry of Transport should provide and regulate affordable, decent transport means and flush out the garage touts who unleash terror on private transports over refusal to dance to their tune.
"The Ministry of Agriculture has no business enjoying air conditioned offices; they should get into the field and even ensure that every civil servant is encouraged to have their farms. They should deploy agricultural extension workers to tour farms and provide instant support to boost cropping and life-stocking activities.
"As we speak, most cities in Delta State are battling with this high cost of living, mostly transportation and high cost of housing. Ughelli Agbor, Abraka, Asaba, Ogwashi-Uku Ozoro, Warri, Sapele, and a whole lot of other developing towns are suffering from this menace.
"Delta State government will be indecently encouraging street boys economy by indiscriminately empowering them with appointments as SSA and SA's and thereby allowing civil servants and petty traders to wallow in penury and agony of excruciating hardship.
"The state government will be performing poorly by doing nothing about the high costs of house rent with its extortionist charges notably caution fees, Agent fees, landlord drink, etc.
"There is absolutely nothing productive about the cities that made it so expensive. The few small scale factories are barely surviving while the noticeable most vibrant business currently done by young people is 70% Yahoo/ hookup just at a time that the rate of kidnapping and armed rubbery are also advancing from bad to worst.
"All the above highlighted challenges are pointers to Government to intervene  strongly, without any further delay, for posterity as a stitch in time saves nine".

Warri ____ The Chief Executive Officer, CEO/Publisher of Niger Delta Mirror Newspaper Online, Comrade Charlse Oyinbi Onduku who also doubled as the Vice President of the revered ljaw Publishers Forum (lPF) has petitioned the Nigerian police force, especially the Divisional Police Officer Ovwian over unlawful abduction, brutality and alleged extortion by members of the Ovwian anti-cult group on saturday the 4th of October, 2024 in Udu LGA, Delta State.
In a statement released on monday in Warri by the victim through his lawyer, Omes Ogedegbe (Esq.), called on the Commissioner of police Delta State to as a matter of urgency unravel the culprits of the dastardly act in a view of bringing justice to the victim.

In the cause of the abduction, Onduku and his female visitor were tortured after shooting a teargas canister into their eyes and were threatened to be killed if they refused to cooperate and follow them to the Ovwian police station.

Onduku further collapsed after his left eye which was operated due to a medical challenge was hit and teargas and ever since he couldn't sleep and was on medication due to the serious pains of the eye.
Meanwhile, due to the intimidation and brutality by members of the anti-cult vigilantes, Onduku was not allowed to lock up his shop, hence upon his return from the station, the sum of Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N450,000) kept in his shop for his Point of Sales (POS) business was looted.

Actress Ayo Mogaji urges Nigerian single women at 35 to start getting pregnant for any man, gives reason

Actress Ayo Mogaji urges Nigerian single women at 35 to start getting pregnant for any man, gives reason

Veteran Yoruba actress Ayo Mogaji recently shared her thoughts on the struggles women face with marriage, especially as they approach 35. In an interview on Oyinmomo TV’s YouTube channel, she gave advice to women who are still single by that age.

Mogaji suggested that women who aren’t married by 35 should consider having a child, even if the man isn’t ready to be a father. She stressed the importance of becoming a mother and encouraged women to follow their desire for a family instead of waiting for the perfect moment.

She also pointed out that many women focus too much on their careers and personal achievements, which can delay marriage. While success is important, Mogaji warned that time moves fast, and women may later feel unfulfilled in their personal lives.

Additionally, she mentioned how some men view women between 35 and 40, which can make dating even harder for women in this age group, adding more pressure as they try to balance their choices and wishes.
Mogaji said, "A woman who can't find a husband at age 35 should get pregnant for any man to have a child. If the woman can find any man she is close to, even if he isn't ready to take responsibility, she should go ahead and have a child."

HRH King-Jerry Lauds Otuaro Reform Policy's in the Amnesty Program, Calls for N'Deltans Support

HRH King-Jerry Lauds Otuaro Reform Policy's in the Amnesty Program, Calls for N'Deltans Support

Francis Tayor

Warri _____ Following the laudable reform initiatives introduced to reposition the Presidential Amnesty Programme for the general interest of the ex-agitators of the Niger Delta region, the Amanana-owei ll of Meinbutus Federated Communities Worldwide, HRH. King-Jerry James Nakpose Pere-ela Prebor Snr, has commended the administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, High Chief (Dr.) Dennis Burutu Otuaro for his laudable reforms ongoing in the amnesty office.
King Jerry make the commendation on Thursday at his palace in Olabrakonpre Community Warri kingdom, while playing host to the press noted that he was overwhelmed by the sterling leadership acumen of Dennis Otuaro, especially the rehabilitation program he introduced to save the lives of our youths from drug abuse which had already sent most of them to early grave and rendered others useless in the society.

He lamented that his heart bleeds whenever he sees most of the promising youth lives cut short as result of hard drug intake in Meinbutus Federated Communities.
King Jerry maintained that with the setting up of rehabilitation centers by the Otuaro led amnesty program, the youths of Niger Delta, especially victims of the ljaw liberation struggle would be reintegrated back to the society to live a fulfilled life with their family and loved ones.

He however, called on Niger Delta leaders, critical stakeholders and the youths to support Dr. Dennis Otuaro led amnesty program so as to enable him deliver on the mandate given to him by Mr President, His Excellency, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu in sustaining the existing peace in the region in order to fastrack infrastructural development to the coastal areas of the Niger Delta, the statement added.

Refrain from Peddling Lies Against Otuaro, Tompolo, ljaw Group Cautions Gbaboyor

Refrain from Peddling Lies Against Otuaro, Tompolo, ljaw Group Cautions Gbaboyor

Press release
2nd October, 2024.

PAP: Refrain from spreading falsehoods against Otuaro, Tompolo -Group lambasts unguided Jude Gbaboyor

The Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) has strongly condemned the recent video posted by one Jude Gbaboyor, suspected to have been an apologist of an ex-agitator Ben Ebikabowei, alias Boyloaf, accusing Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro PhD of revealing a sensitive document that allegedly saved former President Goodluck Jonathan. The video also attempted to discredit High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, a highly respected advocate for the freedom of Niger Delta region.

This was contained in a statement signed by the group's national secretary Comrade Peter Luke, and BoT chairman , Cletus Itari where a copy was sent to newsmen on Wednesday.

The IPDI described Gbaboyor's actions as a desperate attempt to seek cheap fame by maligning reputable individuals. They emphasised that Dr. Otuaro has no connection to the purported document and that these accusations are merely a smear campaign.
"Gbaboyor's malicious campaign will only tarnish his boss Boyloaf's reputation. His divisive propaganda will ultimately backfire. It's misguided to accuse Dr. Otuaro of being involved in a document he knew nothing about. Instead, Gbaboyor should direct his concerns to the DSS or previous amnesty program administrators who might have valuable insights.

"It's shameful that while others celebrate Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro's appointment as an administrator of the presidential Amnesty Programme, Gbaboyor and his paymaster continue to plot against their own brother for selfish gains. This destructive behavior is not only shameful but it exposes the evil intentions of Gbaboyor and his boss towards Dr. Otuaro.

"Dr. Otuaro is a distinguished leader in the Niger Delta struggle, and it's shameful for Gbaboyor to suggest otherwise," the IPDI stated. "His actions expose a secret agenda to tarnish the reputation of Dr. Otuaro and Tompolo.", the group reiterated.

"We will not tolerate reckless misinformation and character assassination," the IPDI concluded. "We stand solidly behind Dr. Otuaro and Tompolo, who have tirelessly worked for the betterment of our people."

"The accusation is baseless and unfounded, you don't accuse someone of what he doesn't know just because you merely saw Otuaro's photos in the DM of the person who posted the alleged document.

"We want to outrightly let the insane Gbaboyor know that Otuaro was a key player in the Niger Delta struggle, and it is only a poor student of history that will erroneously say that Otuaro is enjoying the efforts of Boyloaf. This is shameful and childish".

The IPDI urged the mischievous Gbaboyor to refrain from spreading falsehoods and to focus on constructive contributions to unite Ijaw leaders rather than divisive ploys. They strongly emphasised that Dr. Otuaro and Tompolo remain unfazed by these baseless accusations.
The IPDI's statement served as a call to action, promoting fact-based discourse and respect for leaders working towards positive change in the Niger Delta region.

Hon. Andaye made call against the backdrop of the proposed nationwide protest organized by aggrieved Nigerians over the nation's current economic situation, noting that his administration had put the machinery in motion to transform the locality into an urban centre.

In a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the council chairman, Chancel Bomadi Sunday, which was made available to newsmen, yesterday, the council boss was quoted to have said that he would do all within his executive powers to rewrite the narrative of Bomadi Council area to a place to be reckoned with in the Niger Delta.
The statement reads: "In the spirit of freedom, peace and development, I joined together with my people of Bomadi local government area and Nigerians in general to celebrate our 64th anniversary marking our freedom and self-determination as a nation.

"As a government, we will not rest on our oars until we set the stage for Bomadi to be reckoned with among local governments in terms of progress and development. Yes, we are determined as a government to ensure our blueprint of a better Bomadi is thoroughly implemented and achieved".
Remain calm, Peaceful

However, Hon. Andaye called on all youths of Bomadi local government area and environs to maintain the prevailing serene atmosphere and peaceful disposition, while lauding the youths for heeding his earlier call during the maiden protest that recorded destruction of both government and individual property in some parts of the country.

"I want to use this medium to once again, call on my fellow youths to maintain the serene atmosphere in Bomadi and environs while agitations and destructions may be taking place in some parts of the country.

"We have a future, we have a vision to achieve and Bomadi under my watch will see the light, we will see the illumination in no distant time.
"Please, maintain the prevailing peace in all our riverine communities as we will surely smile and have stories to tell others about our journey to greater heights as a government and people", he said.

Read The Amazing Address Delivered at the Launch of Arogbo Ibe Voice Newspaper By Dr. Dennis Otuaro

On behalf of the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Otuaro, who was a distinguished guest of honour at the Launching of Arogbo-Ibe Voice media outlet, Mr. Samuel Twatimi, Head of PAP Ondo State Liaison Office, delivered the following speech:

Distinguished elders, honored guests, esteemed members of the media, and my fellow Niger Deltans,

It is a profound privilege to stand before you today, bearing the goodwill and message of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme. We gather here not merely to celebrate the birth of a news platform, but to witness the dawn of a new era for the Arogbo Ibe Kingdom—a time when our stories, aspirations, and collective strength will resonate far beyond these shores through the lens of Arogbo Ibe Voice News.

In the annals of history, there comes a moment when a people must rise and take charge of their destiny. This moment, dear friends, is upon us. The Niger Delta has long been known for its rich cultural tapestry and the wealth of natural resources beneath our feet. Yet, it is unity, above all, that will be the key to unlocking our future potential. As the saying goes, "United we stand, divided we fall." Now is the time for us to bind our spirits together, as strands in a mighty cord, unbreakable in our shared purpose.

Since assuming office just a few months ago, Dr. Otuaro has taken swift and meaningful action to ensure that the path toward sustainable peace and development in the Niger Delta is not just imagined but realized. His tireless efforts include numerous consultations with women groups, ex-agitators, and other critical stakeholders across the region. These meetings have been vital in fostering dialogue, promoting reconciliation, and ensuring that the voices of all Niger Deltans are heard and integrated into the broader vision of lasting peace.
Under Dr. Otuaro’s ’s steady and visionary leadership, the Presidential Amnesty Programme has made significant strides toward nurturing peace and fostering development. But make no mistake, peace is not merely the absence of conflict—it is the presence of justice, opportunity, and hope. Dr. Otuaro has labored tirelessly to sow these seeds, yet it falls upon us, the people, to water them with our faith and cooperation, for only then will they bear the fruit of sustainable progress.

The media, my friends, holds the sacred responsibility of being the heartbeat of society. Platforms like Arogbo Ibe Voice News have the power not only to inform but to transform. I implore our media to be more than just spectators in this unfolding narrative. Be the champions of unity, the heralds of our victories, and the voice of the voiceless. Like a lighthouse guiding ships to safety, the media must illuminate the path forward, fostering understanding, cooperation, and solidarity among our communities.

Let us not be as reeds swayed by the wind of division, but as the oak, deeply rooted in our shared values and purpose. The Niger Delta is a land brimming with untapped potential—our youth, our culture, our resources—all waiting to be harnessed for the greater good. By uniting our hearts and minds, we can create a region where prosperity is not the exception, but the rule.

I must commend the initiators of Arogbo Ibe Voice News for their bold vision. This platform stands as a testament to the power of storytelling—a medium through which we can showcase our resilience, our culture, and our unity to the world. I have no doubt that Arogbo Ibe Voice News will serve as both the mirror and the megaphone of the Niger Delta's aspirations.

In closing, let me leave you with this: the road ahead will not be without its challenges. But as long as we stand together, in unity and cooperation, we will overcome. Let us move forward with the shared vision of peace and development, hand in hand with Dr. Otuaro's tireless commitment to a prosperous Niger Delta. The time for action is now, and the responsibility lies with us all.

Thank you, and once again, congratulations to Arogbo Ibe Voice News on this historic launch. May it shine brightly as a beacon of hope and unity for generations to come.
