Lagos____ ln his usual ways in speaking truth to power to provide good governance for the common man in the society, the renowned Nigeria human and environmental rights activst who doubles as the National Coordinator for ljaw Monitoring Group, Comrade Joseph Evah has led over two hundred Niger Delta mothers to fervently pray for the deliverance of South-South governors in order to wake up from their slumber for economic growth, security of lives, properties and development of the region.
The historic deliverance service was held on Saturday at the Nigeria Hall of Fame, Jeco College Plot 720, Owode Onirin, Ikorodu, Lagos State attracted over two hundred mothers from the major Niger Delta states across the Southern part of Nigeria.
The event tagged "Niger Delta Governors Spiritual Deliverance Service Day" was hosted by the former Publicity Secretary of lNC, Comrade Joseph Evah who believes that the problem of the Niger Delta governors has grown beyond physical, hence he appealed to the mothers of the region to pray for them seeking God's divine guidance and direction for the governors to provide good leadership, especially senator Douye Diri (Bayelsa State), Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State), Monday Okpebholo (Edo State), Umo Eno (Akwa-lbom State), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo State), Bassey Otu (Cross Rivers State) and Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State respectively.
Comrade Evah used the medium to called on the governors to revitalize the once booming Asaba Textile company established by late former governor Ogbemudia of old Bendel state, Beta glass company ughelli, plastic companies among others in order to provide employment opportunities for our teeming unemployed youths in the Niger Delta.
According to Joseph Evah, said:
" Instead of our Niger Delta governors to revived our region industries, especially Asaba Textile company, Beta Glass company ughelli, fishing and plastic company's to boost our economy and meaningfully engaged our children rather they came to Lagos to buy Ankara wrappers leaving the Niger Delta once booming industries dead, thereby exposing our youths to abject poverty".
" Godbless Niger Delta region with crude oil, fishes and raw materials to harness but our bad leaders mismanaging the wealth of the region. Asaba textile company was built by late former governor of Bendel state Ogbemudia. Our present governors needs to emulate late Ogbemudia footsteps rather they solely depends on the 13% derivation funds from Abuja, thereby abandoning our raw materials untapped."
Speaking further, Evah noted that the Chinese and Lebanese companies have taken over Niger Delta peoples fishing occupation in the Atlantic oceans, thereby render us to be importers of ice fishes instead of exporters.
He said the Niger Delta region is contributing the largest revenue for Nigeria survival yet the South-South governors are confused in their recent signed communique while the South-West, South-East and Northern Governors are demanding for the rights of their people in the Tinubu Tax Reform Bill.
Reacting on the insecurity, Evah lamented that the unchecked increase in bandits and herdsmen attacks on our mothers in their farmland in the Niger Delta will result into a catastrophic situation if drastic action is not taken by our governors to curb the situation. He said All South West governors met and set up a regional security outfit called AMOTEKUN to protect Yoruba people. Why are Niger Delta governors are afraid to rise to the challenge. The governors needs to wake up to save our people from the unbearable suffering.
Evah reiterated that prayer is the only answer because all our cries and appeals to our governors to save the situation in our homeland (Niger Delta) are falling on deaf ears, he asserted.
Meanwhile, in their numbers, the mothers pray God to have mercy on the governors of their shortfalls and forgive them to wake up from their slumber to do the right thing for the people of Niger Delta. They invoke the Holy Spirit of God to fall upon them in order to awaken their consciousness to provide good governance for the people.
Climax of the day was distribution of the holy bible and handkerchiefs to over two thousand participants including women, men and gentlemen of press.
