...Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Unlike the Tompolo, Otuaro, Emomotimi, Tonlagha who are determined to collect whatever Itsekiri have to develop where they call home, Itsekiri chiefs, politicians and leaders are only determined to trade whatever Itsekiri have to give their children the best of life outside this country.
The passion, commitment, determination doggedness and sacrifice with which the Ijaw leaders put in to develop their communities in Warri south west and north is producing visible results for their people.
These Itsekiri leaders have no atom of Itsekiri interest in them. Whenever they come together to discuss about Itsekiri issues, their personal interest comes first before any other thing. That is why they have all relocated their families abroad.
The Ijaw leaders will hire barges to carry their cars to their villages in Warri south west when they have burial or any other ceremony. They will even use luxury speed boats to carry their immediate families to their villages for such occasion. But these Itsekiri leaders will never allow their immediate families to come to their villages because they don't even own a zink nor tash house there.
To the Itsekiri leaders, carrying your car to your village through barge for just a weekend occasion is the highest stupidity, they prefer to compete who owns a house in London, Canada and the US. They prefer to compete who's family is in abroad and which country.
They have right to give the best to their immediate families but the source with which they do that is through taking what rightly belongs to their Communities to sustain their families abroad and live a luxury life.
How the people are being treated by the companies operating in the community is not their concern.
How to attract development to the community is not their concern.
How to unite the community is not their concern.
They all have a common and permanent interest.... To collect what belongs to the people and the community to sustain their luxury lifestyle.
In Gbaramatu for instance , Tompolo is paying the elderly women under his TANTITA SECURITY job, something that none of these leaders will try even if their community money is times two of that of TANTITA SECURITY. They will rather share it among themselves and stage unending faction fight so that nobody will have chance to question them.
Same Itsekiri leaders who formed factions fighting themselves in the community enter same flights to abroad, their children attend same school abroad and their wives do shopping together abroad.
But back home, Tompolo have brought a Federal University to his domain, he has brought a Federal Hospital to his domain and he is still pushing for more.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, Chevron invited Ijaw and Itsekiri leaders to a meeting for a plan to lay off workers. During the meeting, George Timinimi who spoke for the Ijaw leaders told Chevron that none of the Ijaw workers should be lay off because if you drop any of our people, they will go and burst your pipeline, so just leave them. The Itsekiri leaders on the other hand agreed with Chevron to lay off Itsekiri workers in exchange for huge compensation attached in the same meeting with Ijaw leaders. Chevron management was amazed with the position of the Ijaw leaders because they put aside personal interest by rejecting their compensation.
Just this year, Chevron recruited new staff without any consideration to host community and these set of leaders kept quiet because they can't afford to lose their contracts with Chevron because of your employment but whenever they want to do casual community employment, same Chevron management will insist on their 50% slots for their relatives and these same leaders will be silent to the detriment of their people.
The bible said in Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
But it still depends on what you are asking. It's becoming clearer that what the Ijaw leaders are asking God for is different from what Itsekiri leaders are asking God for. While the Ijaw leaders are asking government and multinationals for development of their Communities, Itsekiri leaders are asking government and multinationals for money and contracts to take care of their immediate families abroad and live a luxury life.
It's hard to believe that Tompolo is actually Itsekiri problem.
