President Bola Tinubu has sacked General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff, along with other service chiefs, in a major shake-up of Nigeria’s military leadership.
The announcement was made on Friday by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Public Communication. General Musa has been replaced by General Olufemi Oluyede, who previously served as Chief of Army Staff.
The new appointments are as follows:
●Chief of Defence Staff: General Olufemi Oluyede
●Chief of Army Staff: Major-General W. Shaibu
●Chief of Air Staff: Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke
●Chief of Naval Staff: Rear Admiral I. Abbas
●Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye retains his position as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
According to the statement, President Tinubu made the changes to strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture. He expressed appreciation to the outgoing chiefs for their service and leadership and charged the newly appointed service chiefs to uphold professionalism, vigilance, and the spirit of camaraderie that define the Nigerian Armed Forces.
