Just-ln: Burutu New PDP to Meet 30th April, Urges Defecting Excos to Handover Party Properties, Says PDP Much Alive

The People's Democratic Party, PDP, under new PDP in Burutu local government Area has scheduled a meeting on Wednesday April 30th following the recent defection of Exco members, leaders and political appointees to the All Progressives Congress, APC in Burutu LGA.

In a statement signed by concerned stakeholders of Burutu representing all the 20 wards in said the People's Democratic Party (PDP) is not only alive in Burutu, but is also undergoing an inspiring renaissance.

The emerging new leaders and stakeholders led by Comrd. Austin Ozobo, Mr Anthony Mulu, Rtn Dr. Pigha Ofogbor, Comrd. Tamaramiebi, Comrd Oyinbi Onduku and others unequivocally refuted all rumors and baseless speculations that PDP is dead in Burutu LGA, adding that the presence and influence of the PDP in Burutu remained strong and enduring, contrary to misguided claims, not all members of the party have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the new leaders, a resolute team of loyal members had remained steadfast, upholding the core values, vision, and mission of the PDP, and working diligently to sustain its legacy while steering the party towards a vibrant future.

The statement titled, "The New face of Burutu PDP" said "This is an official declaration to the good people of Burutu Local Government Area and the general public: The People's Democratic Party (PDP) is not only alive in Burutu, but is also undergoing an inspiring renaissance. We unequivocally refute all rumors and baseless speculations—let it be known that the presence and influence of the PDP in Burutu remain strong and enduring. Contrary to misguided claims, not all members have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). A resolute team of loyal members has remained steadfast, upholding the core values, vision, and mission of the PDP, and working diligently to sustain its legacy while steering the party towards a vibrant future.

"At this pivotal time, our top priority is the revival, reorganization, and consolidation of the PDP, further strengthening its foundation across Burutu. Through broad-based consultations and collaborative efforts, we are currently setting up an interim working committee to oversee the affairs of the party pending the emergence of a substantive leadership. Both veteran members and dynamic new entrants are bringing renewed energy and unwavering commitment to this noble cause. Our dedication is beyond question: to re-energize the party, rebuild trust amongst our supporters, and reclaim our position as the credible vanguard of progress in Burutu politics.

"Let there be no doubt or confusion: The new PDP is here to stay. We are ushering in a new era driven by transparent leadership, unity of purpose, and fresh vision. We invite all sons and daughters of Burutu who believe in justice, fairness, and genuine democracy, to join hands with this renewed movement. The road before us is bright and full of promise, and together, we shall unleash the full potential of our land and its people.

"Nevertheless, we find it necessary to address a grave concern. It has come to our attention that some individuals who have publicly aligned themselves with the APC are attempting to retain PDP offices, privileges, and assets. Such actions are completely unacceptable—constituting a violation of both the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the principles of ethical political practice. No statute or party constitution recognizes dual allegiance to two political parties. We call on all those who have openly defected to the APC to withdraw immediately and permanently from all matters concerning the PDP. Any further interference from defectors will be regarded as an attack on the integrity and unity of our party, and such acts will not be tolerated.

"To these individuals, let this serve as an unambiguous and final warning: You cannot enjoy the advantages of two parties at once. Your defection has been recognized and affirmed by party leadership, with full acknowledgement at the recent Canwood Hotel, Ekpan meeting. The final formalization of your move to the APC will be concluded soon in Asaba. The authentic PDP structure is currently being rebuilt by loyal members, and all defectors are hereby directed to promptly return all party documents, properties, and materials. Failure to comply will force us to initiate every legal and political measure necessary to reclaim our rightful assets.

"This is a moment of great transition and promise for the PDP in Burutu. We are pleased to announce that a comprehensive, expanded consultative meeting of the new Burutu PDP is scheduled for Wednesday. This vital gathering will provide an opportunity for open dialogue, strategic planning, and collective visioning. It is an open call to all genuine PDP faithful to join us in laying the foundation for a stronger, progressive, and people-driven party that truly embodies the aspirations of Burutu.

"Let it be proclaimed with strength and clarity: The PDP is not only surviving in Burutu—it is thriving, evolving, and moving forward. Our flag flies higher than ever, as we embark on this new era of committed leadership and resolute service to our community.

"PDP – Power to the People!

Long Live the New Burutu PDP!

Long Live Burutu Local Government Area!

The Tompolo Dancer and the Amaseikumor Festival-By: Enewaridideke Ekanpou

Calculated stately steps counted in measured stately stages announce the arrival of the Tompolo dancer.
Feet nimbly moved in stately steps are echoes of the Tompolo dancer telling tales with legwork  at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival .

Attired in immaculate
white clothes, hand-fan flexibly held, heralds the Tompolo dancer in prefatory outlines telling tales with legwork at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival.

The echoes of the Tompolo dancer are often different.
Barefooted, hand-fan moved stately, a stately step a little forward, bent fractionally, stationary state kept within a circle, shoulders shaken stately, appreciatory  gaze cast both left and right of the watching arena, are all echoes of the Tompolo dancer at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival.
Within a mentally marked spot, bending beautifully in intermittent steps, moving the hand-fan here and there 'yinke yinke', gently stepping on the dancing arena, body shaken stately like butterfly wings, are all stately echoes of the Tompolo dancer telling tales with legwork at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival.

Like sandbank crabs with spread tentacles raised and cut smartly, carrying semblance of a synchronised unity of homage to a senior military officer , the  hand-fan often fanning the dancer in a stately state, are all echoes of the Tompolo dancer telling ancient tales with legwork at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor festival in Oporoza.
The nimble moves of the hand-fan matching the stately steps in skillful synchronised unity are all echoes of the Tompolo dancer telling tales with legwork built skillfully from steps of 'agene' and 'owigiri'  dances at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival.

Bending stately and forming a circle, yet working out beautiful steps in a mentally marked stationary spot, are all echoes  of the Tompolo dancer mystically telling tales with legwork at the grand finale of Amaseikumor Festival.

Lips carrying the folk song on cue and breaking into stately steps without muscular exertion, sometimes stately  blowing a whistle, are all echoes of the Tompolo dancer telling tales with legwork at the grand finale of Amaseikumor Festival.
Suddenly breaking into stately steps built from 'agene'  and 'owigiri' dances within the radius of a stationary circle, are all echoes of the Tompolo dancer telling tales with legwork at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival

A skillful stately dancer at work without beads of sweat, head stately skyward in reverence to the cosmic, yet a white handkerchief stately wipes imaginary beads of sweat on the face at calculated moments, are all echoes of the Tompolo dancer telling tales with legwork at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival at Oporoza.

When a dancer suddenly breaks into stately steps, hand-fan held flexibly, a smiling  face  manned by white handkerchief to lay siege to imaginary beads of sweat, know that the  Tompolo dancer is on the dancing arena telling ancient tales with legwork at the grand finale of the Amaseikumor Festival annually held in Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Gripped by the muse, Izonebi Alfred the originator of the 'wabu' and 'ozigizaga' dances, has just fashioned out another dance named Tompolo dance using his musical tentacles hooked to the ten teetotaler tentacles of Tompolo at the grand finale of the 2025 Amaseikumor Festival.
The Tompolo dance is a stately dance of happiness and appreciation...

Mulade urges Gov Oborevwori to industrialize Delta State through Agriculture, Aquaculture

Delta State born environmentalist and development advocate, Comrade Mulade Sheriff has called on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to adopt a pragramatic approach towards industrializing Delta state.

While stating that leaders all over the world now adopt strategies to harness the resources of their countries for more infrastructural development, job creation and economic growth, translating to wealth creation, Comrade Mulade said Delta State cannot be an exception, especially as the State is richly endowed with human capital and natural resources which are the keys to unlocking the greatness of the State.

The development advocate and the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-west LGA called on the State Governor to industrialise the State using its agricultural and aqua-cultural endowments. He said "Delta State is greatly endowed with arable land and marine resources that can turn the State into a food basket for local consumption and create revenues via exports while also achieving the aim of diversifying from an oil-dependent economy in the long run."

The Gbaramatu Chief noted that adopting an agro-based industrialisation strategy would go a long way to creating wealth for the State's teeming unemployed youths and women. "By engaging them, it will reduce the rate of unemployment and food scarcity, while boosting food sufficiency and its affordability, a key to reducing the poverty index of the State," he asserted.

He stated that the industrialisation of the State through agriculture and aqua-culture would create opportunities for youths and women, and curtail the wastage of idle human resources and turn them into assets that can contribute their quota to the growth and development of the State.

According to Mulade, "agro-based industrialisation will help to reduce the insecurity challenges and criminal tendencies and immorality prevalent in the society. As the saying goes, an idle mind is the devil's workshop. When the youths and women are meaningful engaged, this will improve peace and reduce anti-social behaviors like armed robbery, prostitution amongst others, and in the long run attract more investors into the State."

He said apart from crude oil, "the many resources in the riverine areas of the State are greatly untapped especially in the aquacultural sector. The potentials of unemployed youths in the creeks can be tapped thereby turning the coastal areas into exporting zones of seafoods and revenue generation."

He stated that failure of the State government to meaningfully engage the next generation would amount to societal devastation that would be difficult to recover from as the negative impact would be disastrous.

He, therefore, appealed to the Oborevwori Administration to prioritize the industrialisation of the State through agriculture and aquaculture, as Delta has a lot to benefit in the long run. "This poor areas should be strategically looked into, devoid of politics, for the interest of the future of our dear Delta State."

Francis Tayor

The competitive 2025 Amaseimokumo football tournament has come to an end on Thursday 24th April, as Gbaramatu Urban team trashed Ogbe-ljoh United FC 1-0 to clinched the trophy.
As part of activities to mark the 2025 Amaseikumor Festival in Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom of Delta State, the Gbaramatu Youth Council organised a football tourney amongst youths from various Ijaw kingdoms and neighbouring Urhobo and Isoko kingdoms.
The idea is to promote love, unity and peaceful coexistence among the different ethnic groups in Delta State, as well as to develop raw talents at the grassroot level.

The first prize of Two million naira (N2,000 000, 00) goes to Gbaramatu Urban Team while the second prize of 1.2million naira went to Ogbe-ljoh United. And the third prize of Seven hundred thousand naira (N700, 000 00) goes to Oporoza Ward team which emerged third position after beating Ovwie united 1-0.
Giving brief details of the final match between Gbaramatu Urban Team and Ogbe-ljoh United, the centre referee awarded a penalty shootout in favour of the Gbaramatu Urban Team in the 66 minutes of the game which led to controversy, and Ogbe-Ijoh United walked out of the pitch.

However, after over 35 minutes of the controversy about the penalty awarded, normalcy was restored and the centre referee insisted the penalty shootout stands, which the Gbaramatu Urban Team utilised and scored the penalty shootout.
Ogbe-Ijoh United fought fearlessly to equalise the 1 goal but to no avail, thereby relegating them to the second position.

However, Presley Friday of Gbaramatu Urban Team won the golden boot while Pere Joseph of Ogbe-Ijoh United emerged highest goal scorer of the tournament. Gideon Blankson from Ogbe-Ijoh United also clinched the best goalkeeper of the tourney.

Reacting to the development, the National President of Gbaramatu Kingdom Youth Council, Comrade Kingsley Egbejule Arerebo appreciated God for the successful tournament in an atmosphere of peace, unity and love.

Amaseikumor's Rain in Gbaramatu Kingdom_By: Enewaridideke Ekanpou

The journey to Amaseikumor is a yearly one Carriers of purity race to Oporoza every year to cement the bond of blessing in the temple of Amaseikumor in Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Bond of blessings reigns in the root and rain of Amaseikumor.
Racing to relate to receive the rain of blessings from Amaseikumor is the yearly ritual  every April.

At the roots of Amaseikumor lies the rain of radiance.
Amaseikumor's  rain of radiance returns radiations of lighr, love and happiness wreathed in wealth and long life.
Before Amaseikumor the forest rope of life often  vindictively cut by enemies claims powers beyond targeted penetration.
The rain rhythm of Amaseikumor echoes everywhere, bringing only the calm of love and happiness rooted in man's pure-hearted relation to the god's 'rainful' radiance every April of the year.

Amaseikumor's rain of rhythm and radiance is the harvest of the believers whose purity is the road to the home of Amaseikumor.
The bond and bundles of blessings know no defilement in the holy home of Amaseikumor except the believers bury their heads in tainted pleasures and miss the narrow road to the home of Amaseikumor.
The rain of Amaseikumor uproots impurities and plants purities and pieties that fertilise happiness for man's radiance;
Amaseikumor rains for the reign of happiness to rain upon the believers.
The yearly rain of Amaseikumor is beyond man's dark dance.

Ekanpou writes from Akparemogbene, Delta State.

DELTA SOUTH SENATORIAL SEAT: A CALL FOR EQUITY AND FAIRNESS_By Austin Edumogiren

Nigeria stands as a tapestry woven from various ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. Since gaining independence in 1960, the nation has navigated a myriad of political experiments, often with limited success. Nevertheless, the citizenry has actively sought a political framework that fosters both national and regional unity. A significant stride in this direction has been the establishment of power rotation between the northern and southern regions for the presidency, as well as among the three senatorial districts for governorship in many states. This principle, embraced by the two dominant political parties, the APC and PDP, has been particularly observed in Delta State since the Fourth Republic began in 1999. While this achievement has substantially alleviated political tensions, there remains an urgent need for further progress!

This discourse , "Delta South Senatorial Seat: a call for equity and fairness" aims to refine the widely acknowledged power-sharing formula that has been utilized for the presidency and governorship, extending it to roles that resonate more deeply with the communities, such as the Senate seat for Delta South. This discussion encapsulates the various political complexities that have emerged over time, including notions like “they have the Governor, so cannot get the Senate Seat,” “he is not from my local government area/federal constituency, hence I won’t vote for him,” and issues of “tribal/dialectical sentiments” and “vote buying,” all of which have hindered the genuine rotation of the Senate seat.

The discourse also revisits the history of representatives from Delta South in the National Assembly, tracing the lineage of the seat from the defunct Second Republic through the tumultuous Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida transition programme known as the Third Republic to the current Fourth Republic. It calls on all Delta Southerners to recognize what must be done to foster regional unity and integration, ultimately nurturing the essential trust, respect, love, and peace that make heartfelt communication possible, thus contributing to genuine happiness and understanding within our communities.
Historically, the Warri and Burutu Federal Constituencies enjoyed brief representation in the Senate during the Second Republic, with Franklin Oritse-Mueyiwa Atake serving from 1979 to 1983 for a term of four years, followed by Edwin Kiagbodo Clark's brief stint of just three months from October 1983 to December 1983, before Muhammadu Buhari and his military consortium brought the Second Republic to a sudden halt through a bloodless coup.

The Third Republic featured Francis Spanner Okpozo, who was elected from the Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency to the Senate for a mere ten-month tenure before Sani Abacha abruptly dismantled that republic through a palace coup.

However, since the dawn of the Fourth Republic in 1999 - a span of 26 years - the Senate seat has become the exclusive domain of representatives from just two federal constituencies: Bomadi/Patani and Isoko North/Isoko South. This has effectively sidelined Burutu and Warri Federal Constituencies, which have been entirely shut out from Senate representation for this entire duration, extending to an alarming 28 years by 2027, when the current Senate term concludes.

Reflecting on the past: Stella Omu of Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency held the Senate seat from 1999 to 2003, a term of four years. Subsequently, James Ebiowou Manager from Bomadi/Patani held the seat from 2003 to 2023, achieving an unprecedented five terms or twenty years in total. Currently, Joel Onowakpo Thomas from Isoko North/Isoko South Federal Constituency occupies the Senate chair, having been elected in 2023 for a four-year term. Signs are converging to suggest that he is poised to seek re-election come 2027, further perpetuating this pattern.

This narrative provides a sobering reminder of the significant imbalance perpetuated by the systematic exclusion of Burutu and Warri Federal Constituencies from the Senate since 1999. This situation, reflecting a gravely unfair status quo, stands in stark contrast to the ideals of regional cohesion and integration professed by political leaders in Abuja and Asaba, particularly when members from the marginalized constituencies have also aspired for the seat. Such treatment is, without a doubt, oppressive and unacceptable.

While the next election cycle in 2027 may seem distant, it remains crucial to continually highlight the injustices faced by the citizens of Burutu and Warri Federal Constituencies. The call for equity and fairness must be at the forefront of our discussions, serving as a prerequisite for nurturing unity and a genuine sense of belonging in Delta South.

This call for equity and fairness concerning the Delta South Senatorial Seat is not merely an appeal for political reform; it is a clarion call for justice and inclusivity in our democratic processes. The historical context laid out in this discourse serves as a stark reminder of the imbalance that has plagued our representation for far too long. The deliberate exclusion of Burutu and Warri Federal Constituencies from the Senate, particularly the age-long politically oppressed Warri Ijaws, undermines the principles of fairness, equity, and equal opportunity that should underpin our political landscape. This significant oversight has not only perpetuated feelings of disenfranchisement but has also stifled the potential for collaborative governance that is essential for comprehensive community development.

As we stand on the precipice of the next election in 2027, it is imperative for all; stakeholders, politicians, community leaders, and citizens alike, to come together and advocate for a more equitable distribution of political power. The time has come for a concerted effort to ensure that every voice is heard, every concern is addressed, and every constituency is represented. By acknowledging and addressing the injustices of the past, we can pave the way for a more inclusive political environment where Burutu, Warri, and other marginalized constituencies share equally in the governance of Delta South.

This call to action compels us to engage in earnest dialogue, fostering mutual understanding and respect among diverse groups within the region. We must commit to collaborative strategies aimed at breaking down the barriers that have historically divided us - barriers rooted in tribal/dialectical sentiments, voting patterns, and political affiliations. By doing so, we not only promote political equity but also enhance social cohesion, ensuring that all constituents feel valued and invested in the democratic process.

The journey towards true equity requires a united front, and it starts with community engagement and education. It is vital for every citizen to be informed about their rights and the importance of their vote, as well as to understand the broader implications of their electoral choices. Empowering each individual with knowledge creates a more active and responsible electorate, which is a cornerstone for political transformation.

Through these collective actions - rooted in dialogue, understanding, and empowerment - we can foster a politically empowered Delta South, built on the tenets of trust, respect, love, and peace. Let us envision a future where our diversity is celebrated as a strength, and where all constituents, regardless of their federal constituency, feel a sense of ownership and pride in our shared governance. Together, we can transform Delta South into a beacon of hope and unity, not just for its inhabitants but as a model for inclusive governance throughout Nigeria.

World Leaders Pay Tributes to Pope Francis Who Passes on Easter Monday at Age 88

Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber, at exactly 9:45 AM today, solemnly announced the death of His Holiness, Pope Francis, from the Casa Santa Marta.

“Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father,” the Camerlengo declared. “His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church… especially in favor of the poorest and most marginalized.”
The 87-year-old Pontiff had been battling serious respiratory issues and was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic Hospital on February 14 after several days of bronchitis. By February 18, doctors confirmed bilateral pneumonia, and after 38 days of hospitalization, Pope Francis was transferred to continue his recovery at the Vatican.

Pope Francis, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Argentina, had a long history of respiratory complications stemming from a partial lung removal in 1957. In recent years, he faced recurring illnesses, including the cancellation of his November 2023 trip to the UAE due to lung inflammation.

In a symbolic move just a year before his passing, Pope Francis approved a revised edition of the Ordo Exsequiarum Romani Pontificis, introducing a simpler, more pastorally focused papal funeral liturgy. His request: that the funeral reflect his lifelong humility and faith in the Risen Christ, not the pomp of worldly power.

Archbishop Diego Ravelli confirmed the Pope’s wishes will be honored, saying:
“The funeral of the Roman Pontiff is that of a pastor and disciple of Christ.”
Funeral arrangements and public ceremonies are expected to be announced shortly.

Pope Francis made history as the first Jesuit Pope, the first from the Americas, and a transformative figure in modern Catholicism. He will be remembered for his compassionate outreach, reformist tone, and deep concern for the marginalized.

May his soul rest in peace.
